Battlefield 3 trailer ends with a crash, bang, drop

by on Apr 15th 2011 10:30AM

The first part of the latest Battlefield 3 trailer is an elegiac re-cut with a sprinkle of hyperbole (who says "unnervingly beautiful" anyway?). The last part is all "whooah" and "yee-hawwww" -- you'll like it.

[Captivate '11, PS3, X360, PC] Cinematic trailer for Street Fighter x Tekken

Captivate 2011 has rolled around and one of the biggest pieces of information dropped was a brand new cinematic trailer for Street Fighter x Tekken as well as a pinch of new details.

Capcom talked up a roster featuring dozens of playable characters, some of whom are Ryu, Ken, Guile, Able, Chun-Li, Kazuya, Nina, King, Marduk, and Bob. They also talked about a 'real-time tag battle' feature that will allow players to fight as a team of two and swtich between both characters strategically as required. The game will feature a control scheme that will feel familiar to fans of both franchise and the title will feature a robust online feature that will upgrade online functionality as well as include a few new surprises.

When you can expect to buy the game? Capcom are slating it for a 2012 release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Are you going to give it a chance?

[PC] "Official" Minecraft Launch on 11/11/11

[PC] "Official" Minecraft Launch on 11/11/11 [Image: game-news-image-2011-c8bace81bebf2320630...b6d8eb.png]
In is little more than a formality, Minecraft developer Mojang has announced an official release date of November 11th for the mega-popular sandbox game. However, the event will amount to little more than the dropping of the "Beta" label, as the game itself won't be much different than it is now. Not to mention that nearly 2 million people have already purchased the beta version of Minecraft. Creator Markus "Notch" Persson reassures players that new updates and features will continue to be added to the experience after the official release date.

It is also no coincidence that the game will launch alongside one of 2011's most highly anticipated titles, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Notch notes that it is one of the games he is personally most excited about, and would consider it as a reward for his own landmark occasion of officially launching Minecraft.

[PC, PS3, X360] Battlefield 3 on Consoles Lacks Visual Capabilities of PC

[PC, PS3, X360] Battlefield 3 on Consoles Lacks Visual Capabilities of PC [Image: game-news-image-2011-237f840b402a5922ed6...bdabcb.jpg]
By now most of you have probably watched at least one of the jaw-dropping videos of DICE's upcoming shooter Battlefield 3. If you've been crossing your fingers that these videos are representative of the console versions of the game, keep on wishing. Any gameplay already shown is running on PC, likely a particularly powerful PC at that.

What are console players missing out on? "The higher resolution, the higher framerate, the anti-aliasing, the motion blur, stuff like that. We can't have it to the same quality on the console," says executive producer Patrick Bach. "Most people will be very positive because they might be afraid that it won't look as good as other games and it will, and some people will of course be disappointed that it doesn't look like the PC version."

He does offer some restitution for console gamers though: "What we're showing on PC might look better than on console, but what we'll show on console doesn't look worse than any other game out there. It's probably even better than every other game out there on console." Meanwhile PC gamers looking for a title to challenge their system's capabilities should be pleased that DICE intends to set a new standard for graphics technology: "There's always competition to build not only the best game but the best technology, the best features," says Bach, "and you want to be the best at everything, of course, that's how things are being moved forward."

EA and DICE are yet to officially announce a release date for Battlefield 3, but recent rumours are strongly suggesting a November 2, 2011 release.
