[PC, PS3, Mac, X360] Counter Strike: GO features cross-platform play but not on 360

[PC, PS3, Mac, X360] Counter Strike: GO features cross-platform play but not on 360
Valve has Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on show at PAX Prime this weekend, so a lot more fans have had a chance to go hands-on with the newest instalment of the genre-defining FPS.

During this time, some new information on the game has come out, including the PS3's continued use of Valve's Steamworks (such as that featured in this year's Portal 2) and the fact that PS3 users will be able to cross-platform play with users on PC and Mac platforms. What? You think it is unfair to pit the lowly dualshock against the mighty mouse and keyboard race? Never fear! Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will also support Move and mouse and keyboard on the PS3. There, that should definitely even out that battleground a lot more.

Xbox 360 users will be able to play on their standard controls with their Xbox 360 friends, Gabe still wants to implement Steamworks (and thus, cross-play) in the Xbox 360 version but Microsoft is too determined at keeping their online system all locked down.

Such a shame, really.

[PC] 'First Strike' arrives on PC last, but finally gets a date

Today, 02:51 AM (This post was last modified: Today 03:46 PM by Irony.) [PC] 'First Strike' arrives on PC last, but finally gets a date [Image: game-news-image-2010-7bb1445affeb545f134...d75f12.jpg]
You may have heard of a little piece of downloadable content called 'First Strike', which released for the immensely popular Call of Duty: Black Ops (or at least until this year's installment arrives). If you haven't then you have been living under a rock.

The pack was released on Xbox Live back on the 1st of February and PS3 owners got to taste the action on the 3rd of March. The silence has been broken though. The DLC has now been dated thanks to some information from Treyarch's own Josh Olin via Twitter. PC gamers who still care and haven't been swept away by the hype machine that is going to be Battlefield 3 will be able to download it on the 25th of March.

It will cost you $14.99 / £11.49 to purchase the pack and will grant you access to four new competitive maps and a new zombies map. The price seems steep considering the amount of content you get but it will continue to make money for Activision anyway.
