[PC] Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs delayed to end of summer

[PC] Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs delayed to end of summer
[Image: game-news-image-2013-5fc24f957d30bdf385d...f64c46.jpg]
Horror fans have been impatiently waiting for the sequel to the critically-acclaimed 2010 indie title Amnesia: The Dark Descent, however they will have to endure the agony a little bit longer. In a post on developer Frictional Games' forum, studio co-founder Jens Nilsson announced that Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs has once again been delayed, this time until "the summer comes to an end."

"We are working away as fast as we can, it has to take the time it takes," says Nilsson. "We have no rush and as a certain well known game developer said 'A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.'"

"We are optimizing, tweaking and in general putting the [Frictional Games] expertise to good use. [Co-developer thechineseroom] keeps putting in work as well. There are companies working on the translations (will launch with 9 languages in addition to original English). The porting guys are porting away. Deals are being made. Things are prepared for launching the game through more online stores than any other FG game before. In general occupied with all things related."

The game was initially expected to launch in time for Halloween 2012, but was delayed until Q2 2013. An exact release date hasn't been nailed down, but rest assured we'll keep you posted when we get one.

[PC, PS3] Square Enix confirms Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn for Summer launch

[PC, PS3] Square Enix confirms Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn for Summer launch
[Image: game-news-image-2013-158014ae556818c94ed...1c0807.jpg]
Final Fantasy XIV turned out to be a wake up call to Square Enix; the Japanese developer and publisher has been putting a lot of effort into restoring the game prior to its disappointing launch.

Today the company confirmed that the re-launched Final Fantasy XIV will be made available sometime this Summer for PC and PlayStation 3.

Additionally, they also confirmed that the game will be entering the third phase of its closed beta test this June. The third phase will allow PlayStation 3 users to jump on board and get their first taste of Final Fantasy XIV action and experience the world of Eorzea alongside PC players. It will also introduce participants to new content, including the introduction of two new city states: Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa.

If you haven't applied for beta entry yet then head over here or here to register your interest.

You can probably expect a release date announcement at E3.

Throw some of your money at Best Buy's big summer sale

by Writer RSS on Jul 23rd 2012 6:00PM

Big Best Buy saleIt's pretty clear Best Buy knows exactly what it's doing with this giant game sale: It's the Monday following the final hours of the Steam Summer Sale, and many gamers are already suffering from the first stages of withdrawal. They crave cheap games, marked down to ridiculous prices with the flimsy excuse of "it's hot outside."

The Best Buy Summer Gaming Blowout offers more than 100 games and accessories on sale this week, including console versions of Assassin's Creed Revelations, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Just Dance 3 for $10 each, Gears of War 3 for $15, Metroid: Other M for $5, and many more massive discounts.

Best Buy doesn't offer a ton of PC games, but does have Sid Meier's Civilization V: Game of the Year Edition for $20, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for $10, and a few new Sims titles on the cheap. For those itchin' for a post-Steam-sale fix, this might just be your Best Bet.

[Thanks, Turtle Bird.]

[PS3] Uncharted, Resistance, Ratchet Collections Coming This Summer
[Image: game-news-image-2011-49085661c8913db0aa7...efe9b7.jpg]
If PlayStation 3 exclusives Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Resistance 3, and/or Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One have grabbed your attention and yet you've somehow missed out on the other games in the series, Sony is offering you a chance to catch up with a trio of bundles releasing this summer. The Uncharted collection, which will be released in Europe on July 22, will feature the first two games in the series (Drake's Fortune and Among Thieves) and includes an Uncharted 3 dynamic theme and avatar.

A Resistance bundle will also be landing in Europe on July 22 (and North America on July 5), which includes the first two games and a Resistance 3 skin. Finally, a Ratchet & Clank bundle with Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time will be releasing on the same day and will include Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One avatars and a dynamic theme.

No word yet on pricing or North American release dates for the Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank bundles, but the Resistance bundle will retail for $39.99 in the US so it seems likely that the other two will feature the same price.

River City Ransom 2 barfing on Japanese WiiWare this summer

by on Mar 25th 2011 11:20AM

A sequel to the teen-brutalizing, coin-collecting, sushi-eating NES classic River City Ransom (pictured) is in the works from the delightfully-named developer Miracle Kidz. It sounds like a pretty authentic follow-up -- right down to its reported launch on a Nintendo platform. According to Andriasang, the sequel will punch its way to the Japanese WiiWare this summer and will be ported to the PC as an "online title" in 2012.

There's been no word on whether Miracle Kidz has plans to localize River City Ransom 2 for North American players, but we like to think that we believe in Miracles. And also Kidz.

[3DS] Cave Story 3D Coming This Summer [Image: game-news-image-2011-936f345db201c78b738...b01520.jpg]
NIS America has announced that it will publish a 3D-enhanced version of developer Studio Pixel's critically acclaimed shooter Cave Story for the Nintendo 3DS this summer. The publisher claims the title will be "fully reconstructed in 3D", rendering the environments with three-dimensional polygons. The gameplay, however, will remain on a 2D plane.

Cave Story is an old-school platformer that blends in shooting elements and upgradeable weapons and abilities. The game was originally released on the PC in 2004, but was ported to WiiWare and DSiWare in 2010. The WiiWare version currently boasts an impressive 90.3% average rating on GameRankings.
