Target's Black Friday deals include 360, PS3, Wii, Vita and 3DS bundles, various discounted miscellany

by Writer RSS on Nov 10th 2012 10:30PM

Target's Black Friday deals include 360, PS3, Vita and 3DS bundles, various discounted miscellanyLook, we're not your parents. We're not going to sit here, high upon our internet throne and tell you what you can and can't do. Even if we did discourage you from putting yourself in a potentially trample-prone environment, you'd still do it for dat savings.

Take Target's Black Friday deals, for example. These scanned pages reveal PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 bundles with two games each for $200, as well as a free copy of Just Dance Kids 2 with the purchase of a $120 Wii bundle. Vita and 3DS bundles (with one game each) are available for $200 and $150 respectively, while PS3, 360 and Wii controllers cost $40 and a bonus $20 giftcard is included in the purchase of Halo 4, Assassin's Creed 3 or Forza Horizon. You can even get Adele's irrelevant first album for $5, or one of those cool magnadoodle thingies for half a sawbuck.

Whatever you do on Black Friday, just, you know, be safe. You're our precious little darling babies and we don't want anything to happen to you.

by Writer RSS on May 29th 2012 9:30AM

The big, bad Black Friday game deals post: 2011 Edition

by on Nov 18th 2011 8:15PM

It's nearly the moment you've been preparing for all year, savvy shopper. And right here? Here is the page from which you finalize your Black Friday master plan. You'll show those retailers, alright ... or is it the other way around?
Here we go again, y'all -- one week 'til Black Friday 2011. In that vein, we've once more compiled our annual testament to post-Turkey retail madness, replete with savings from vendors large and small, brick-and-mortar as well as online.

Up above, you can head directly into any of "The Big Six" sections by clicking the individual logos. Down below, some highlights to help guide that process:
Best Buy: Consoles on the cheap and the special edition Zelda 3DS [more details]GameStop: Like Best Buy, but you can totally trade in stuff [more details]Kmart: Discounted HD remakes, HD newmakes, and non-HD wagglers [more details]Sears: Mario for the holidays (at home and on-the-go) [more details]Target: Cheapest Mario 3DS bundle, discounted Kinect, in-store Pizza Hut [more details]Walmart: Blue Wiis, the Bats, and so, so many bullets [more details]"OTHER" NATIONAL RETAILERS / REGIONAL RETAILERS
In the interest of completeness, we like to offer as thorough a selection of retail options as possible. What you find below may not be "thrilling" so to speak, but they are some viable options should you be at your local shoperia, purchasing discounted wares of the non-electronic variety:
Big Lots: EA Sports bundles for $15 [ad scan], buy two slash get two free on ... a bunch of stuff. Also, frozen pizza. [ad scan]Costco: The best deal you're going to find on GAEMS. Also, frozen pizza. [ad scan]RadioShack: The same $200 PS3 and Xbox 360 bundles as many others, but, uh, likely fewer of them. Likely no frozen pizza. [more details]Sam's Club: Blue Wiis and many other consoles on sale. Also, frozen pizza. [ad scan]Toys R Us: Discounted consoles, portables, and gift cards on Apple products. Definitely no frozen pizza. [Black Friday details / Cyber Monday details]It's more than just "Small Business Saturday" that puts money into region-exclusive retailers' pockets, you know. While this list is notably shorter than last year's, we can't encourage folks enough to stop by a local game seller and take advantage of their unique sales: Hastings: Discounted Wii, PSP, and buy one / get one games! A much better selection than last year, to boot. [more details]Meijer: Forza 4, Resistance 3, Battlefield 3, Rage, and more for half off. And God of War 3 for ten bucks! Hey now! [complete ad scan]ONLINE RETAILERS
Sure, you don't like going out into the freezing cold at the crack of dawn and pushing through hordes of people -- we can relate. Thankfully for us shut-ins, there's a variety of enticing Black Friday deals available from the comfort of the internet:
YOUR FAVORITE DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION PORTALS
Beyond not going out, you don't even want all that silly "stuff" in your living space. You want it all digital, all the time, baby! Maybe you're The Lawnmower Man? Maybe you just don't have a lot of space. Fair enough! We've only got a couple for now, but more are sure to pop up as the week goes on, and we'll add 'em right here: Impulse: Thanksgiving Sale page [ImpulseDriven.com]Sega Digital Games on PSN/XBLA: Sega Genesis and Dreamcast classics on sale (now thru Nov. 29 for PSN, Nov. 28 for XBLA)Namco iOS Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale: Variations of Pac-Man, Galaga, and other classic franchises with drastically reduced prices (now through November 28) [more details]PlayStation Network "Fall Sale": Limbo, Section 8: Prejudice, Outland, and more all on sale (now through November 28) [more details]

Gamestop's Black Friday deals are about what you'd expect, still bonkers

by on Nov 12th 2011 10:30PM

Black Friday is already looking pretty crazy this year, and Gamestop won't be doing anything to reduce the amount of consumerist insanity permeating the American consciousness. If anything, the fact that its sales flier proudly boasts that limited edition Zelda 3DS on its front cover indicates a clear and unmistakable aim to misbehave, in a metaphorical, capitalist sense.

We'll save you the headache of an unwieldy bulleted list by telling you that the long and short of the sale is widely similar to other retail offerings: Discounted 360s and PS3s ($149 and $199 respectively), recent titles discounted by $10 to $30, etc. Check out the 12 page flier for complete details, and when you're tempted by these impressive discounts, remember how small and innavigable the average Gamestop is on a normal day, let alone on the busiest shopping day of the year.

Toys R' Us' Black Friday deals include $5 games, discounted systems

by on Nov 12th 2011 4:30PM

'Tis the season to be stampede trampled jolly, apparently, despite the fact that we're still cleaning the toilet paper out of our trees and we haven't even begun trying to decide between potatoes and stuffing. As department stores across the nation begin decking their halls with boughs of various things, they also begin preparing their tired, broken staff for the onslaught of panicked, sleep-deprived consumer mayhem awaiting them on November 25.

Toys R' Us, purveyor of battery/adult-assembly-requiring novelties since 1957, will be celebrating the fact that you've managed to survive another family gathering by offering buy-one-get-one-free deals on select DS and Wii titles, and buy-one-get-one-for-five-bucks deals on select console titles. They're also discounting the Kinect 360 bundle to $199, the Kinect itself to $99, and the PS3 to $199. Take a squint at the leaked flier here (and here) for specifics, and remember that great savings can be had as long as you're willing to sacrifice your humanity some shut-eye.

S.A.V.3. on games all day with Amazon Lightning Deals

by on Sep 20th 2011 10:15AM

Amazon has dropped a selection of Lightning Deals on us, and while we can't be 100% sure of the identities of all the mystery deals (and less sure of the prices) it looks like there's enough stuff in there that you'll want to keep an Amazon window open, and an alarm clock set.

Right now, F.E.A.R. 3 is $20 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Upcoming discounts include GTA IV, Mortal Kombat, and what is likely No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise. To round out the deal while flattening your tummy, the ongoing Deal of the Day is Zumba Fitness for Wii or Xbox 360.

Amazon Wii deals say 'Condadulations'

by on May 30th 2011 3:45PM

Amazon is getting started on its Father's Day celebration early, with the first of three week-long video game sales in honor of "Dads and grads." That website's dad is really important to it, we suppose -- he helped Amazon.com develop a strong sense of right and wrong, and provided the encouragement it needed to grow up and be a successful website -- and made just the best chili.

The first sale, running through June 4, discounts a bunch of Wii games and accessories, heavily focused on EA Sports stuff, like NBA Jam for $20 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 The Masters for $30. Next week, from June 5 through June 11, Amazon will offer "Handheld Deals," followed by "Next Generation Console & PC Deals" on June 12-18.

Epic Mickey for $30 and other legendary deals in Amazon's Gold Box

by JC Fletcher on Jan 18th 2011 11:00AM

Today, Amazon's Gold Box is filled with games, offering discounts on a single game or accessory every couple of hours. In addition to that, the Deal of the Day is also a game -- Disney Epic Mickey for $29.99. That makes it quite a bit less risky for those that are interested in the well-reviewed game but scared of, say, the camera.

The current Lightning Deal is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 on multiple platforms ($39.99 on PS3 and Xbox 360, $34.99 on Wii, and $19.99 on DS). To see what's coming next, head past the break. Spoiler warning: the Ear Force is strong with this one.
