Europe's 'NintendoTV' now streaming outside of Wii and 3DS systems

Now you can watch Future Publishing and Nintendo's "NintendoTV" without having to buy a European Wii or 3DS. The show has been relaunched, and with that relaunch comes a fancy new YouTube embed, so you can see footage of big new Nintendo games, coverage of launch events, and other such fun stuff ... right here, in this post!

Watch it yourself to see how it compares to the "Nintendo Week" available through North American Wiis, and the "Nintendo Show 3D" you can watch through the 3DS eShop. Alternately, marvel at the existence of three different Nintendo-produced video programs available through consoles, which you quite likely have never heard of.

Nielsen: Streaming usage on consoles is up, adding to total console usage

Nielsen reports that usage of video streaming services like Hulu and Netflix on video game consoles has risen strongly over the last year. Xbox users stream video about 14 percent of the time on their consoles, PS3 users stream 15 percent of the time, and Wii users spend 33 percent of their time watching streaming video. As you can see in the chart above, that's a sizable gain all around from the 2010 figures.

Additionally, time spent on all of these consoles is generally up from year to year, which Nielsen says suggests is adding to the time users spending with their consoles (rather than taking away from time spent gaming online or doing other things). There are a few likely reasons for that: All of the consoles have increased their libraries and streaming selections over the past year, the apps that run this streaming video have been updated for access and usability, and web connections continue to get better as broadband access becomes even more prevalent.

Netflix streaming to UK, Ireland in 'early 2012'

Movie (and perhaps game) rental service Netflix will launch in the UK and Ireland in early 2012, the currently volatile company announced this morning. Similar to the service's expansion into Canada, the company will only offer its streaming service. Netflix also began streaming in 43 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean in September 2011.

Netflix stated that streaming will be available on TVs "via a range of consumer electronics," but no specific consoles are mentioned. Streaming will also be available on PCs, Macs and mobile devices. Specifics about pricing, content and supported devices will be announced closer to launch.

This is a bit of good news from the company that recently crawled out of a PR debacle and has seen its stock drop by over half, following several missteps over the past three months.

Square Enix streaming reveal of new Dragon Quest next week

Square Enix will reveal the next Dragon Quest game live over Ustream and Nico Nico on September 5 at 2PM Japan time (1AM Eastern). While it's entirely possible this is a new game announcement, we find it more likely that it'll be a blowout of Dragon Quest X, which was announced for Wii in 2008 and never shown off in any capacity.

Square Enix will throw a trailer for DQX into the Wii anniversary collection that's coming out in Japan on September 15, so it will definitely have something ready to show next week. We'll probably get our first look at that trailer on the stream before it ships to retail.

The Call of Duty XP event is streaming live right here, right now

The Call of Duty XP event is streaming live, beginning at 10:30 a.m. PST (1:30 p.m. EDT) today (that's right now!), with a keynote scheduled for 11 a.m. PST. There'll be activities and panels running through 7:30 p.m. PST, and it all ends with a live performance from the Dropkick Murphys. Nintendo details E3 streaming plans

As expected, Nintendo has confirmed plans to stream its E3 press briefing. The briefing is slated to take place on June 7 at 9am PT (12pm ET) and promises to offer the first glimpse of Nintendo's Wii successor (and probably Zelda or something).

In order to secure your "virtual front-row seat", be sure to park your web browser at E3.Nintendo.com prior to the event. Additional video content, including trailers and interviews, will also be featured on the site after the briefing is over. "A variety of exclusive content" will also be accessible on the Wii via the Nintendo Channel.

Nintendo to Offer Live Coverage of E3 Expo 2011 Presentation

A live webcast of Nintendo's E3 Expo 2011 media presentation will begin at 9 a.m. Pacific time on Tuesday, June 7. Grasshopper announcing 'charity app' at streaming event March 30

A Grasshopper Manufacture event originally announced in February will now serve as a charity function following the March 11 earthquake. The "Grasstream 2" event will be held at the Shinjuku Loft Plaza One venue on March 30, with ticket sales going to the Red Cross -- and it will also be streamed on Ustream in both English (thanks to 8-4) and Japanese.

That night, Grasshopper will show a new the GDC Shadows of the Damned trailer, accompanied by a talk by Suda 51 and audio director Akira Yamaoka. A new "charity app" will also be introduced on stage by model Kayo Sato and J-pop group Vanilla Beans. "If you own an iPhone or iPad," the announcement notes, "don't forget it!" This segment of the presentation is in the same time slot as the "new game announce" that was originally planned -- and features the same personalities on stage -- suggesting that a new Grasshopper-developed iPhone game is now being adapted for charitable purposes.

In addition, a No More Heroes 2 segment will feature music by Kazutoshi Iida, discussion from artists Yusuke Kozaki and Shigeto Koyama, and a talk by Suda about Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, which is notably similar in story to No More Heroes.

G4 live streaming DICE awards, broadcasting edited version

The show, hosted again by funnyman Jay Mohr, will air in a one-hour edited format across the television waves on Saturday, February 12 at 4PM ET/PT. However, the show will also be streamed live, and unedited, on the interwebs at G4tv.com/DICE, beginning at 7:30 PT (10:30 ET) on Thursday, February 10.
We'd recommend checking out the unedited clips from last year for an idea of the "insider" jokes and stuff that's not likely to make its way to broadcast.
