New Nintendo eShop releases: River City Ransom, Adventure Time, Mario & Sonic

by Richard Mitchell Writer RSS on Nov 14th 2013 3:30PM

Everyone may be all abuzz with PlayStation 4 madness (you're keeping up with our launch coverage, right?), but that doesn't mean the eShop is taking a week off. In fact, it's a very solid week for all the Nintendo downloaders out there. Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games debuts on both Wii U and 3DS today, and staring on November 19, both platforms also pick up Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW!.

Today on Virtual Console, the 3DS gets the classic beat-em-up and pompadour simulator, River City Ransom. Elsewhere on Virtual Console, Nintendo is running a sale on Zelda games. The 3DS and Wii U versions of The Legend of Zelda and Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link have been knocked down to $3.49 each. Meanwhile, Link's Awakening DX, the old Game Boy Color essential, is discounted to $3.99. The sale runs from Nov. 14, 9 a.m. PT through Nov. 21, 8:59 a.m. PT.

And, what's this? A WiiWare game? It is! For all you Wii obsessives, your collection won't be complete without Deer Drive Legends.

River City Ransom 2 barfing on Japanese WiiWare this summer

by on Mar 25th 2011 11:20AM

A sequel to the teen-brutalizing, coin-collecting, sushi-eating NES classic River City Ransom (pictured) is in the works from the delightfully-named developer Miracle Kidz. It sounds like a pretty authentic follow-up -- right down to its reported launch on a Nintendo platform. According to Andriasang, the sequel will punch its way to the Japanese WiiWare this summer and will be ported to the PC as an "online title" in 2012.

There's been no word on whether Miracle Kidz has plans to localize River City Ransom 2 for North American players, but we like to think that we believe in Miracles. And also Kidz.

Barf! River City Ransom 2 in the works, coming to consoles and PC

by on Mar 18th 2011 10:55AM

River City Ransom 2We know a lot of you have been looking for closure for twenty long years. Where are Alex and Ryan now? What about River City High? Are Ryan and Cyndi still together?

Where is River City Ransom 2?

Japanese dev Miracle Kidz, comprised of some of the series' original developers, told Impress Watch (via Siliconera) that the sequel is in development for both consoles and PC. The console release should be "this summer" while PC owners will need to wait until "next year." There's no word on which consoles Miracle Kidz is targeting, but its River City Ransom-styled Downtown Smash Dodgeball is on Xbox Live Indie Games and being ported to WiiWare, so those two platforms seem as likely as any.
