Final two Skylanders: Swap Force series 3 figures released

by David Hinkle Writer RSS on Jan 15th 2014 4:00AM

Rubble Rouser and Stink Bomb, the final two Skylanders Swap Force figurines in the third series, have been released and can be found at your local Toys R Us store in the US, Kotaku reports.

You may already have a shoebox full of Swap Force characters, but these two characters are of particular interest, as they allow access to the final content in Skylanders: Swap Force. Rubble Rouser, the first earth elemental Skylanders: Swap Force character, is necessary for bypassing certain gates requiring a rocky touch. If a masked gunman is forcing you to choose between Rubble Rouser and Stink Bomb, it's worth knowing that Rubble Rouser's extra content can be accessed during co-op games – those dual-element gates can also be opened by two separate Skylanders playing together.

Stink Bomb, on the other hand, is the first character able to unlock Swap Force's sneaking mini-games. If players want to fully experience absolutely everything Skylanders: Swap Force has to offer, Stink Bomb is a must-have character.

Skylanders: Swap Force is the latest entry in Activision's toy-driven action platformer series, which converts real-life toys into in-game characters by use of a special portal. Swap Force is the first entry to have figurines with a top piece and bottom piece that can be combined with other Swap Force characters to create new combinations.

[X360] Microsoft Points will disappear when the next system update is released

[X360] Microsoft Points will disappear when the next system update is released

Do you find Microsoft's mysterious space dollars to be too troublesome to fiddle around with when you browse their Xbox Marketplace offerings? If you do then we've got some good news for you, those mysterious point values are set to disappear!

A rumour suggesting that Microsoft Points would vanish first appeared back in May and it was later confirmed during E3 but we didn't know when the change would be happening. Now it has been confirmed by Microsoft's Marc Whitten, Chief Product Officer, over on Xbox Wire that we can expect the switch to happen this year.

In the post Whitten talks about Microsoft's desire to make the transition as easy as possible for Xbox users around the world. He confirms that change will arrive with a new system update, after the update all prices will be displayed in your local currency on the Xbox Marketplace. Additionally, Whitten confirms that you'll still be able to purchase Xbox 360 content with any current form of payment option available in your region.

This means that any Microsoft Point cards that are redeemed, after the update is completed, will be converted to an amount of currency equal to or greater than the Xbox Marketplace value of the Microsoft Points.

Later this year Microsoft will start released new Xbox Gift Cards, they'll be available through online and local retailers and should help make the transition a lot more fluent. This will bring their Marketplace into line just in time for the launch of the Xbox One this November, I will be curious to see how Xbox users respond to the change. I know some people will be happy for it to finally happen, but there are also a handful of people that don't mind the current point system.

Thanks VG247.

[PC, PS4, X1] New trailer released for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Do you want to see Geralt kill a bunch of guards whilst rescuing a woman from being hung? If so, this new trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is exactly what you are looking for.

If that isn't what you are looking for you should probably hit play anyway.

That was pretty epic, right? The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is slated to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2014.

[PC, PS3, X360] Mobius trailer for Metro: Last Light released as a thank you to fans

[PC, PS3, X360] Mobius trailer for Metro: Last Light released as a thank you to fans

Metro: Last Light managed to move more copies in its opening week than Metro 2033 did in three months; naturally this is largely thanks to the decision to release on PlayStation 3 as well as Xbox 360 and PC but I also like to think it's because the game itself is fantastic.

As a thank you to fans, 4A Games and Deep Silver have released a special trailer titled 'The Mobius' as a thank you to their fans. For those who are wondering this specific trailer was pieced together by Alexander Bereznyak over several months. He was originally employed as a capture artist at 4A Studios but soon it became apparent that the production team required his talent; as a result he took on the role of lead technical artist.

The season pass for Metro: Last Light is currently available; if you haven't picked up the game yet I sincerely urge you to consider doing so soon.

[Wii, Wii U, 3DS] Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run released; is as awesome as expected

You might recall that I wrote about the upcoming Metroid fan album, 'Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run'. Well, I'm happy to let you all know (if you already didn't know) that the album is finished and up for download over at Shinesparkers.

The album is spread across 3-discs and features 39-tracks filled with Metroid goodness.

I've spent the last day listening to it on loop and am in love with it, any self respecting Metroid fan owes themselves to buy it. Tracks that I've thoroughly enjoyed include Derris-Kharlan's 'Metroid Medley 2', Theophany's 'Gravity', and Sam Dillard's 'Beyond the Glass'. I could go on for hours about how much I am enjoying listening to it but I recommend you dive in yourself.

Here's the final video preview again.

Don't forget to head over to the 'Harmony of a Hunter: 101% Run' Facebook page and 'like' them if you haven't already.

RE: [PC, PS3, X360] Spec Ops trailer released for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
Does anyone know if RE6 will be single player, local co-op ala RE5, or online co-op like RE:ORC? I plan on picking it up regardless but was just curious as to how it's going to be. I hated the controls of RE5 but eventually got used to them. It wasn't scary at all and the zombies didn't even feel like zombies. The only thing that was Resident Evil like was the dlc Undead Nightmares.

As for the topic at hand. I'll download it and play it since it's free but I don't have a lot of hope that it's going to make the game any good. After beating it (very short game) there really isn't much to do unless you want to play various forms of death matches. I saw a survival mode and was hoping it would be like Mercenaries mode in RE5 but it wasn't. It was just me and my friend killing each other at first along with zombies. After that we just killed the zombies and ignored each other. I want more co-op levels or a mercenaries mode dammit!

RE: [PC, PS3, X360] Spec Ops trailer released for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
Yeah, if you use the AI for your partner in 5 it's almost harder! I finished it on the 360 first my friend (local co-op), then on my PS3 (again local co-op) and then when my friend finally got it and couldn't get through the game with the stupid AI I helped him beat it (online co-op). I played RE:ORC by myself at first and did beat it but it was way more fun or at least a little fun overall when we played together online. I prefer my co-op to be local though as it's much easier to communicate with my friend sitting next to me than online, especially because he doesn't have a headset...

As for RE6 I'm hoping they don't keep the controls for RE5 or RE:ORC. I didn't particularly like either of them. I hated the sluggish movement and you can't shoot and move at the same time from 5 and I also hated the poor cover system that had me taking cover every time I bumped into something while walking. I dunno. Maybe a combination of both? I'd like it to be like Uncharted's or RDD's controls I guess.

EDIT: Ok, I just found this from another website.

"A revised control system has also been confirmed by Capcom. Players will now be able to shoot while moving, as well as take cover, slide to cover, and roll. Melee will also be significantly expanded upon. "

That sounds to me like a combination of the two and Yay for walking and shooting!

[3DS] Marth might cameo in Fire Emblem: Awakening, new overview video released

[3DS] Marth might cameo in Fire Emblem: Awakening, new overview video released
Fire Emblem has been standing on shaky foundations after the last few entries, so all eyes are on the anticipated Awakening to really give the franchise a kick start. A new trailer has been released to show off some more gameplay action.
It also appears that Marth (the protagonist from the original two Fire Emblem titles) might be returning to make a cameo. If you look carefully you'll catch a mysterious warrior towards the end in a mask who seems to resemble Marth.

Other cameos that are hinted at include Clea from Fire Emblem Gaiden, Ira from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, and Innes from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones who will be available along with rare items as downloadable content.

Are you hopeful that Fire Emblem will rise to its own former greatness.

[Wii] New Trailer Released for Conduit 2

RE: [Wii] New Trailer Released for Conduit 2 maybe. heck bet when this comes out no one will play the first one anymore 'cause I know I wont. well I might but barely. I'm just very excited with all the new modes the have included into game: split screen and better online multiplayer, classes, an invasion mode(like halo's firefight mode I believe},more customizable options, and I believe online supports patches oh and you dont have to exchange FC's to get friends with an ally system applied. Check my profile if you want my FC's.
