[3DS] Pokémon X & Y introduce new Mega Evolutions for certain Pokémon
It was expected that some of the older Pokémon would receive new stages of evolution in October's Pokémon X & Y. However I can say for certain that I didn't expect older Pokémon to receive extra evolutionary stages known as "Mega Evolutions".

The information was announced in the latest issue of Coro Coro, you can also check out a much more detailed write-up of each of the new "Mega Evolutions" that have been announced so far over at Serebii.net.

First of all, it was confirmed that Pokémon can only undergo the transformation if they are holding a Mega Stone; it's currently unknown if these so-called Mega Stones are a specific item or separate items for each Pokémon. Only certain Pokémon will be able to undergo the process of "Mega Evolution" and the change will only be temporary in battle.

Pokémon confirmed to have "Mega Evolutions" are the following: Blaziken will become MegaBlaziken and gains the Speed Boost ability.Mewtwo will become MegaMewtwo and has the Insomnia ability.Lucario will become MegaLucario and has the Adaptability ability.Mawile will become MegaMawile and has the Huge Power ability.Absol will become MegaAbsol and has the Magic Bounce ability.Ampharos will become MegaAmpharos and gains the Mold Breaker ability in addition to become an Electric/Dragon type.

I'm remaining hopeful that these names won't remain when the game is localised for Western Pokémon fans, but it seems likely that they will remain.

In the same issue of Coro Coro a handful of new Pokémon were also revealed: Dedenne (Electric/Fairy) with the ability Pick Up or Cheek Pouches.Horubii (Normal) with the ability Pick Up or Check Pouches.Meekuru (Grass) with an unknown ability, this Pokémon evolves into the already announced Gogoat.

Lastly, a process known as Super Training was mentioned, it involves increasing your Pokémon's "Kiso" points. Serebii believes that this process will be what we currently know as EV training.

Yes, Aurotto. You may not recognise the name, but Aurotto is the new Pokémon that was revealed in a trailer attached to the newest Pokémon movie.

Until now we've had to deal with guesswork and images drawn by fans to figure out what this new tree-like Pokémon looks like because the trailer wasn't actually available outside theaters. Thankfully that has now changed and you can catch the very brief snippet of footage containing Aurotto.

Pokémon X & Y are due to release this October across the world.

[3DS] Mysterious Mewtwo-like Pokémon revealed to be exactly what we thought it was

A few weeks ago a new Pokémon was seemingly uncovered, the Pokémon in question shared a number of similarities with Mewtwo. Nintendo were coy when it came to talking about it though, and have only just now confirmed a connection between the two.

According to a report published by Gematsu Nintendo confirmed the connection and even offered a short video showcasing Mewtwo's transformation into his new form. Hit play to check it out.

[DS] Pokémon Conquest confirmed for US release this June
Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition is probably the most bizarre Pokémon title released to date, so it was assumed it may never make its way across to America. Nintendo have seen to it that it does, confirming it will release under the new title Pokémon Conquest for Nintendo DS on the 18th of June.
That was the announcement trailer (as well as the intro movie) that Nintendo sent out recently, anyone out there eager to see how the game plays? It definitely looks like the most interesting Pokémon game in recent years.

Pokémon Sells 2.5 Million to Lead March U.S. Portable Sales

It looks like March 2011 was not a bad time for Nintendo’s portable market. Pokémon White & Black sold 2.5 million copies combined, the DS family of systems sold more then 460,000, and Wii sold 290,000. POKÉMON GAMES SELL NEARLY 2.5 MILLION IN NINTENDO’S BEST MARCH IN U.S. FOR PORTABLE HARDWARE

The new Nintendo 3DS™ system combined with the Nintendo DS™ family of systems to make last month the best-selling March in U.S. history for Nintendo’s portable hardware business, according to the independent NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States.

After only one week on sale following its March 27 launch, Nintendo 3DS sold just shy of 400,000 units. Propelled by sales of more than 1.3 million Pokémon™ White Version games and more than 1.1 million Pokémon™ Black Version games, the Nintendo DS family of systems topped all home and portable video game systems in March, with more than 460,000 sold.

“Both Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo DS family had a strong month, indicating that Nintendo has something for everyone,” said Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo of America’s senior director of Corporate Communications. “Nintendo provides people with the best video game experiences, from 3D visuals without special glasses to a touch-screen interface to motion controls.”

Nintendo’s Wii™ console sold more than 290,000 in the United States in March, giving Nintendo combined hardware sales of more than 1.1 million for the month. The upcoming Wii Play™: Motion game launches on June 13 and will have players smiling as they use their Wii Remote™ Plus controller (or Wii Remote™ with Wii MotionPlus™ accessory) in 12 new motion-controlled games. Wii Play: Motioncomes packaged with a black Wii Remote Plus controller to deliver great value, precise motion control and immersive social fun that anyone in the household can pick up and instantly enjoy.

Well, now we can usher in a new record holder, Pokémon Black & White have taken that respectable figure and surpassed it. By how much I hear you ask? Well, Black & White managed to push out 1.08 million copies after being available for 24 hour period in America. Pretty astounding figures and concrete proof that the Pokémon franchise still has plenty of consumer pull.

For those who haven't looked into the new entries, they introduce 150 new critters for you to capture and they are set in an all new region (which seems a lot larger compared to the usual ones) with eight new gym leaders to battle and conquer. Plenty of time to sink in the new entries, and it is time well spent as well.

Aside from a weaker lineup of monsters (largely an aesthetic complaint), this is the best Pokemon has to offer on every level, renewing my waning interest in monster battling. It proves that the Pokemon series is still rock solid after a decade and a half."

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are giving Pokémon™ fans yet another reason to get revved up for the March 6 launch of the Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version video games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems. Consumers who purchase either of the new games between launch and April 10 will be able to receive a special Liberty Pass via Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection (broadband Internet access required), which will enable them to catch the never-before-seen Mythical Pokémon Victini™.

Victini – the Victory Pokémon – is the first Pokémon that’s Psychic- and Fire-type and cannot be obtained through normal game play. It is said that Victini creates an unlimited supply of energy, which it shares with others. This energy source may be the secret to how it brings about victories. Victini’s unique and exclusive Victory Star ability not only increases its own accuracy in battle, but also boosts the accuracy of all a player’s Pokémon in battle. Victini is a must-have in any Pokémon battle, and is especially useful in Triple Battles, which debut in Pokémon Black Version andPokémon White Version.

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version include more than 150 never-before-seen Pokémon that players can catch, train and battle as they progress through the game. POKÉMON BLACK VERSION AND POKÉMON WHITE VERSION INTRODUCE EVOLVED BATTLE SYSTEMS

The upcoming Pokémon™ Black Version and Pokémon White Version games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems feature more than 150 never-before-seen-Pokémon™. No matter which version players choose, they’re sure to have fun with an array of expanded features for taking their Pokémon into battle, either in the game’s main adventure, or head-to-head against friends.

Triple Battles debut in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, giving players more ways than ever to battle their customized team of Pokémon. Conducted in three-on-three format, Triple Battles introduce even more strategy to the game’s already deep battle system. Depending on a Pokémon’s placement in the battle lineup, it will only be able to attack certain Pokémon from an opponent’s trio, providing an exciting new way to battle. For example, a Pokémon in the center of a player’s lineup can attack any of its three opponents. However, a Pokémon positioned on the left or right of the formation can only attack the Pokémon in the middle of the opposing lineup, or directly in front of it.

The new C-Gear device in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version gives players an easier way to battle with others, and multiple ways of interacting with friends. Using IR Communication that’s built into the game card, players can quickly connect with friends to battle and trade Pokémon faster than ever before. Even exchanging Friend Codes is easier, with only a tap of the stylus needed to add them to your list. C-Gear also grants players a variety of game play and communication tools that utilize a local wireless connection and the Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection service (broadband Internet access required). Players have the option to always utilize the C-Gear while playing, allowing for instant access to other players around them — even displaying what nearby players are doing in the game.

Another new feature in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version is the Wi-Fi Random Matchup, which allows players to battle others from around the world over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service without needing to exchange Friend Codes, opening up even more opportunities for players to test their teams in battle.
