[PC, PS3, X360] BioWare Halts Work on Dragon Age II Expansion

[PC, PS3, X360] BioWare Halts Work on Dragon Age II Expansion

Almost a year to the day since BioWare released the highly-anticipated but somewhat disappointing Dragon Age II, the developer announced today that work on any future expansions for the game have been halted.

"While we will still be keeping an eye out for any issues that might crop up in DAII and supporting the community should any emergencies should arise, we’re moving the entire team’s focus to the next phase of Dragon Age’s future," said executive producer Mark Darrah in a statement on the studio's official forums. Darrah clarified on his Twitter account that an expansion pack, called Exalted March, was in the works but has been scrapped to move onto "other DA opportunities".

While the exact plans for the future of the franchise were not specified, the company was openly recruiting team members for work on Dragon Age III last year. Darrah concluded the statement by making a plea to fans to continue giving feedback on the Dragon Age franchise and asks where they would like to see the series go from here.

If Civilization V hasn't already sucked enough hours from your life, 2K Games is giving the game a healthy injection of new content in the Civilization V: Gods and Kings expansion pack scheduled for release in "late Spring 2012".

The expansion will include 27 new units, 13 new buildings, 9 new wonders, new city-states, and 9 new playable civilizations including the Netherlands, the Celts, and the Mayans. Additionally, three new scenarios will be available: the fall of Rome, explore the medieval era, and a Victorian science-fiction setting called "Empires of the Smoky Skies". One of the biggest additions though is the introduction of religion, which will allow you to grow your own religion by accumulating the new Faith resource. Finally, the AI and combat system will be tweaked and you will be able to establish embassies in other civilizations and send spies to steal technologies and information.
