[PAX, 3DS] Special Animal Crossing: New Leaf video from PAX Australia

[PAX, 3DS] Special Animal Crossing: New Leaf video from PAX Australia
Clumsy Kyran actually forgot to post this earlier, but Nintendo Australia were kind enough to upload the special Animal Crossing: New Leaf presentation that was shown at the first ever PAX Australia last weekend.

The video features Directors' Isao Moro and Aya Kyogoku and Producer Katsuya Eguchi.

If you were unable to attend or just want to re-live the video then hit 'play' below to see what questions were asked of the development team.

I'm suffering from a severe case of Post-PAX Depression right now, it's actually pretty crippling. I'm just going to go and flick through some photos and re-live the event through them.

Also -- if you attended, did you spend much time at Nintendo's booth? I did and I had a great time, so far Nintendo's won my heart with the two previous shows I've attended, PAX Australia and the EB Expo last year.

[Multi] Watch_Dogs receives a new trailer; introduces a special collector's edition

[Multi] Watch_Dogs receives a new trailer; introduces a special collector's edition
Watch_Dogs took the world by surprise at last year's E3 and ever since then everyone has been keeping a close eye on it. Although I was somewhat disappointed to see it'll be strolling down the open-world third-person action route I'm willing to give it a chance; after all Ubisoft have managed to do interesting things with that sort of game before (such as the early Assassin's Creed games).

A new trailer surfaced yesterday offering a glimpse at some more gameplay as well as a somewhat more formal introduction to the game's main character, Aiden Pearce. Additionally, a collector's edition is also confirmed at the end of the trailer.

Watch_Dogs is making its way to PC as well as all current and next generation systems (well, officially no one can say it is coming to Microsoft's new console since it doesn't actually exist in the open yet, but it'll happen).

Pandora's Tower streamlining to NA without a special edition

by Sinan Kubba Writer RSS on Jan 28th 2013 1:00PM

Pandora's Tower streamlining to US without a special editionPublisher XSEED isn't looking at bringing out a Pandora's Tower special edition when the game finally reaches North America this spring. The Wii JRPG did get one in Europe, which came with an art book and steel case, but XSEED tweeted that this time around it had to "go a bit more streamlined." That streamlining may still incorporate a reversible cover and manual art, but we'll have to wait and see.

Pandora's Tower is the last of the Operation Rainfall Wii JRPGs to get North American localization, and is now available for pre-order at GameStop, priced $39.99. Its release represents a comprehensive victory for the 2011 grassroots campaign, and we suspect those involved are just happy to see it over here, special edition or no.

Here's what you get in Kirby: 20th Anniversary Special Collection

by Writer RSS on Jun 17th 2012 1:30PM

Nintendo has been pretty quiet about that anniversary collection of Kirby games for the Wii ever since it was announced way back in April, but now the full list of games included in the collection, as well as the collection's Japanese title, have been released by Famitsu and translated into English by Andriasang.

Kirby: 20th Anniversary Special Collection will include Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. The collection also includes a timeline and soundtrack, and will launch in Japan on July 19, according to Andriasang. Alas, no North American release information has surfaced as of yet.

[Multi] Assassin's Creed III Special Editions Revealed

[Multi] Assassin's Creed III Special Editions Revealed
As Ubisoft continues to build up the massive hype train following Assassin's Creed III, the publisher unveiled three different special editions for the game today.

The first and most comprehensive of the bunch, called "The Freedom Edition" includes a figurine of protagonist Connor, steel case, George Washington's notebook containing secrets about the Assassins and Templars, an exclusive lithograph, two additional single player missions("Lost Mayan Ruins" and "Ghost of War"), a "Sharpshooter" multiplayer package, and a collector box.

The next edition, called "The Join or Die Edition", comes with a different collector box, an Assassin medallion, George Washington's notebook, one additional single-player mission ("Ghost of War"), and the multiplayer package. [Image: game-news-image-2012-d51f818402e2cf1220f...9afaef.jpg]
Last and least, the "Special Edition" comes with its own unique packaging and an exclusive single-player mission called "A Dangerous Secret".

So far these special editions have only been announced for Australia, Europe, and Asia and will cost A$130, A$110, and A$90 for each respective edition, though we expect a similar announcement is imminent for North American gamers. These deals are also currently only available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, however we would be surprised if the same or similar editions aren't made available for PC and Wii U versions of the game as well. Assassin's Creed III becomes available on October 30.

[PS3, X360, PC] Operation Raccoon City brings a special Jill Valentine DLC

[PS3, X360, PC] Operation Raccoon City brings a special Jill Valentine DLC
[Image: game-news-image-2012-f032fe1acf128a99595...ec5257.jpg]
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is hitting shelves next week and word has surfaced that Capcom is preparing some free DLC for release sometime in April. As you already know, the main story puts you in the shoes of Umbrella Secret Service troops but the DLC actually lets you take control of the U.S. Spec Ops.

Even more interestingly, the DLC takes place during Jill Valentien's famous escape from the monster created to destroy S.T.A.R.S, Nemesis, from the incredibly popular Resident Evil 3. It'll be interesting to see how many more what-if scenarios are thrown in by Capcom considering the game is set during the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

The game will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360 from the 20th of March, while PC gamers have to wait until 18th of May. This little DLC mission will be available on the 10th of April.

[PC, PS3, X360] Rumour: Potential Aliens: Colonial Marines special edition images

[PC, PS3, X360] Rumour: Potential Aliens: Colonial Marines special edition images
An image has surfaced on Gamekyo that alludes to the contents of a potential Aliens: Colonial Marines special edition. [Image: game-news-image-2012-ba1f2eacd37d3f61cef...0c972a.jpg]
According to the as-of-yet unconfirmed image, the collector's edition will include a load of in-game weapons, a new 'USMC Academy Firing Range' game mode and a USCM Dossier that will offer essential briefing notes on the Xenomorph infestation. Oh, and a bad-ass power loader statue with a Xenomorph attached to its arm.

At this point Sega is not commenting on how official this is, so take the image with caution. But it won't be surprising if it is confirmed any day now.

Sonic Generations (3DS) to Include Online, StreetPass, & Special Stages

Several weeks ago, Nintendo 3DS owners were treated with the news that Sonic Generations would be heading to their handheld in addition to the 360 and PS3. At E3, many were given the ability to play it for the first time. (See our impressions.) Today, we find out that there will be a large difference in the stages included. Outside of Green Hill Zone, the 3DS stages will differ from its home console counterpart.

Other features of the 3DS version mentioned by Sega today include:

Additionally, we hear that the two versions of the game will have different titles in Japan. While the 3DS version is called Sonic Generations Blue Adventure, the home console game will named Sonic Generations White Space & Time.

[PS3] A special Tales of Xillia PS3 bundle dropping in Japan

[PS3] A special Tales of Xillia PS3 bundle dropping in Japan
[Image: game-news-image-2011-9a0d92827bbe15875ec...6d4d86.jpg]
One thing that Sony loves doing is putting out special versions of their console for certain titles when they come bundled. Some examples from the past include the Gran Turismo 5 blue console, the Final Fantasy XIII white console, the Metal Gear Solid 4 gun-metal grey console, and the Cloudy Wolf PlayStation 3 from the Advent Children: Complete bundle. Now we can add another special console to that list in the form of a Tales of Xillia bundle.

The console comes in the standard charcoal black colour with a 160GB HDD, but it depicts artwork of the title's two main characters Jude and Milla in gold and red, with the PlayStation 3 logo in red.

Although it is a distinct possibility that one day Tales of Xillia will be released over here, it most likely won't be anytime soon so it is lucky that the PS3 is region free. If you decide to try and get your Western World hands on the console you are looking at about ¥37,980($470USD) when it releases on the 8th of September.

The Legend of Zelda turns 25 today, celebrate in your own special way

by on Feb 21st 2011 9:15PM

We're wishing a happy 25th birthday today to one of gaming's seminal works: The Legend of Zelda. On February 1, 1986, Nintendo released the game in Japan, and since then we've all hunted down keys, slashed monsters with Master Swords, and bought bombs from random old men. The series has spanned more than 15 games, countless comics and spin-offs, and even -- excuuuse me princess -- a TV series.

You've got a few options for celebration: Maybe make a Triforce cake to eat, browse through this gallery of Zelda oddities or this video retrospective series, or watch the TV shows, all available on Hulu. Us? We'll be watching old Zelda commercials on YouTube. In the wise words of the rapping nerd, "It's The Legend of Zelda, and it's really rad."
