Dead Rising is a franchise known for two things; the insane number of zombies displayed on screen at any given time and the often frustration time constraints placed on certain missions you'll be required to complete. There are other noteworthy aspects about the franchise, but these two always stick out to me. Despite the fact that I found time-sensitive stuff annoying in Dead Rising 2 it was certainly something I would have missed in Dead Rising 3 when I thought it wasn't going to be included.
Don't fret though, in an interview with AusGamers it was revealed by Josh Bridge, producer on Dead Rising 3, that Nightmare Mode will bring back a lot of these features. So, they'll be optional this time around.
"So if you want to, it'll completely hand your ass to you with Nightmare Mode where the time-limit is going to be pushing you along a schedule -- you're gonna have to meet and finish the missions at a certain time or yo're going to miss them; you're gonna miss the optional content; you're going to run out of time -- a bomb is gonna likely nuke the whole area."
That could be music to the ears of some fans! I know I'll be tempted to try out this Nightmare Mode just to see how it compares to the difficulty of timed content in the previous entries.
"You can only save in Washrooms and it [just] keeps that classic pressure," Bridge continues. "But if you wanna have the freedom to explore... we have a biger world and there's even more stuff to do in it than any other Dead Rising, and if you want that and to take it all at your own leisure, that's there for you. You can even hop between both modes if you want -- it all goes to the one profile and saves all your experience."
So, does this new please you? Or are you not interested in returning to timed missions this time around?
Dead Rising 3 is in development for Microsoft's Xbox One, but many fans are crossing their fingers for a PC or PlayStation 4 release in the future.
