[Wii U, 3DS] Watch Nintendo's newest Nintendo Direct stream right here

[Wii U, 3DS] Watch Nintendo's newest Nintendo Direct stream right here
That's right, folks. Nintendo is holding another Nintendo Direct and it is due to start in under ten minutes. So before you get comfortable for the stream, which should run for just over thirty minutes, go and grab a drink and something to nibble on.

Or don't, I'm not the boss of what you do while you watch the stream.

The stream will focus on already announced Wii U and 3DS software, so we can probably expect release dates for the likes of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Edition and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, etc.

This embed is for the European Nintendo Direct, you can view the American one over here.

Watch Brian Provinciano's Retro City Rampage talk from GDC

by David Hinkle Writer RSS on Jun 17th 2013 11:00PM

Brian Provinciano's GDC talk now in The VaultOne of our favorite talks from GDC was Brian Provinciano's session, in which the indie developer discussed bringing his game, Retro City Rampage, to just about every platform known to man. It's a valuable talk for many reasons, giving a clear picture of what it's like working with The Big Three™ and the types of hurdles a determined indie developer will inevitably hit.

Provinciano's determination to port Grand Theft Auto 3 to NES hardware escalated into a love letter to video games and pop culture. While Provinciano hasn't announced his next project yet, he says we should expect more humorous open-world games.

RE: [E3'12, Multi] Watch LA Burn in Call of Duty: Black Ops II E3 Demo
I know gamers always complain about not getting enough gameplay, but I think a ten-minute block of iron sights and "go here" arrows is not the way to sell these titles. It just looked.. tedious.

It's important that you watch this Kiki Trick trailer

by on Dec 28th 2011 12:15AM

In just two minutes, you're going to feel very different about the Wii's lineup. No longer will you be able to make jokes about the Wii having no games (technically, Rhythm Heaven Fever means you're wrong for making those jokes anyway). You'll learn that the Wii has at least one game that unquestionably qualifies as "interesting," and you'll likely never get to play it.

From what we can tell, the rapid-fire FMV presentation from Kiki Trick (above) is what happens when the WarioWare team is given free rein in the last year of a system's lifespan. In other words, it's glorious.

Watch Nintendo prez Satoru Iwata's 'Direct' conference right here [update: it's over!]

by on Dec 26th 2011 9:30PM

Update: And we're out, folks. We'll have a roundup of tonight's trailers for you bright and early in the morning. Thanks for joining us (and don't forget to take your VHS copy of Uncle Buck home, dude)!

Starting at 10PM ET / 12PM JT this evening slash afternoon (depending on where in the world you are), Nintendo president Satoru Iwata will once more address eager fans and press alike in his second pre-record "Nintendo Direct" address. He'll be doing so via Ustream, and he'll apparently be dishing plans for Nintendo products on both Wii and 3DS consoles that are planned for the next few months ("through March 2012," Nintendo of Japan's Twitter feed teased last week) -- we're thinking it'll be launch dates for some of those Mario titles (Paper Mario, Mario Tennis, etc.), and an update on some other upcoming products.

In our continued efforts to keep your eyeballs locked to Joystiq for as much of the day as possible, we've dropped the stream into this post so you can follow along without having to leave our comforting embrace. We'll also be breaking out any news as Mr. Iwata reveals it, so stay tuned!

Wear a tie and watch this video of the Legend of Zelda orchestra recording a CD

by on Nov 13th 2011 3:00PM

It's difficult to compare to a live symphonic performance, but a CD that comes free with initial printings of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a close contender, followed by anything that we would have to pay for, and ending with "Buying the songs on iTunes for a long ride on the New York subway with only one headphone in our right ear and a wet Doberman Pinscher growling into our left the entire way."

A five-minute video showing the recording of the CD falls somewhere between "Free CD" and "Going to Best Buy to buy the CD, finding out they don't have it, driving across the street to Target and buying it plus $100 worth of stuff we didn't know we needed that day." We'll take it.

We'd watch Luigi's Mansion: The Movie

by on Oct 13th 2011 3:00AM

Picture it: a Luigi's Mansion horror flick in the vein of The Blair Witch Project. We're kinda on board with the concept presented here, even if these guys overlooked the potentially lucrative Hoover tie-in.

Watch these impressive Silent Hill and Dragon Age fan film trailers

by on Mar 29th 2011 10:30PM

It might seem strange to pair Silent Hill and Dragon Age fan film trailers in one post, but they just happen to share the same director, Leo Kei Angelos. Both projects are planned for release as complete short films later this year, and they already look impressive.

In fact, if the super, super creepy trailer is any indication, the Silent Hill inspired film, The Confined, just might turn out better than its full-length cinematic counterpart. Check out both trailers after the break.
