Catherine releases across America next week, but things had been quiet on the European front. Atlus teased at a European release but stated that a company hadn't stepped forward to take on the responsibility.

Luckily all of that has changed now. Germany's USK has published a classification for Catherine's European release. The rating is only up for the Xbox 360 version at this point, but that doesn't mean it won't release on PlayStation 3 as well.

The European release is being handled by Koch Media according to the USK, if they don't sound familiar then you might know their other label (Deep Silver). Deep Silver are responsible for the upcoming Dead Island.

[PS3, X360] Review Roundup - Catherine

[PS3, X360] Review Roundup - Catherine
[Image: game-news-image-2011-b5fe6aec3a76caa6551...dfc4dd.jpg]1UP - A - "In an era increasingly defined by developers' ever-growing fear of creating anything that isn't a safe, conservative million-seller, Atlus' willingness to create and publish something as unique as this is truly commendable. Best of all, it's not just a weird game -- it's a great one, too. "

Destructoid - 9/10 - "A fantastic experience with a simple, fun and challenging arcade game at its core. It should not be missed by anyone who wants to enjoy a story with the emotional depth to match its adult themes and with multiple endings and side stories to resolve, there's a fair bit of inducement to return for a second or third pass. The action of the tower climbing is superb."

IGN - 9/10 - "I loved my time with Catherine. In many ways, I was completely blown-away by it. While I'm sure some gamers will be turned-off by its anime-style presentation and difficult gameplay, I implore those of you who are looking for something authentically different and outright fun to give Catherine a go."

Gamespot - 8.5/10 - "But such silliness is the exception in Catherine, rather than the rule. This story-heavy puzzler is mature and occasionally profound, exploring themes like sexual fidelity, personal responsibility, and trust. Catherine doesn't just challenge your hand/eye coordination: It challenges your intellect and your emotions."

GamePro - 4/5 - "Catherine is a game that's about, and made for, mature gamers. Not necessarily because of the story, but more because it's a short, tight design with challenging puzzles that seem to want you to call it a night after finishing just one. It's the kind of thing for adults who aren't as into games as they used to be. They'd have to crank it down to Easy, but that's okay. Anybody else can like it just fine."

The demo for Atlus' Catherine was pulled earlier this month, but has now been made available for PS3 users once again. Once again, it is a Japan PSN exclusive demo but if you have a method to try it out then it is recommended you give it a shot.

The demo will be available until the 20th of February at 11.59pm, at which point it will once again be pulled down. If you can read Japanese, you can check the announcement from Atlus here.
