Amazon lightning deals include Army Corps of Hell, Old Republic savings

by on Feb 28th 2012 10:00AM

Amazon is once again filling its "Gold Box" with game-themed "Lightning Deals," two things that don't sound like they'd go together at all.

In practice, however, it means you can get The Old Republic for $40 all day, and a series of other deals throughout the day, hints for which can be found after the break. Right now, through 11am EST (or until supply runs out), you can get Army Corps of Hell for $30.

Outside of the Lightning Deals, you can also save on a large assortment of PC download games -- including the new Darkness II for $25.
9AM EST - Army Corps of Hell (Vita)11AM EST - "Grab your eyepatch for this PSP adventure"1PM EST - "The latest installment in the world-renowned series, which has shipped over 100 million units worldwide."4PM EST - "Turtle Beach's top-of-the-line XBOX 360 headset"6PM EST - "Get a total body dance workout on the Nintendo Wii!"9PM EST - "Its getting dark in here... GameStop's got B2G1, savings on Rage, Skyrim Collector's Edition, more

by on Dec 23rd 2011 7:45PM

HorseIt's probably a little late to start your holiday shopping, but GameStop is there for you if you're late to the consumer party. Starting today, the retailer is offering a buy two, get one free special on all pre-owned products. That includes both hardware and software, so there's plenty to choose from. The sale runs through December 28. By the way, if you start your Christmas shopping after Christmas, you're really doing it wrong.

GameStop is also offering an in-store sale on the Skyrim Collector's Edition, knocking the usual $150 price down to a (slightly?) more palatable $100. Finally, you can snag Rage for $30, though we'd be remiss in our duties if we didn't mention it's currently available for just under $20 on Amazon.

Non-spooky savings: Amazon's buy 2, get 1 free sale

by on Oct 30th 2011 11:30AM

Look, just because it's Halloween season doesn't mean everything has to be Halloween oriented, okay? We love costumes and candy as much as the next website, but if we see the word "spooktacular" one more time we're going to straight-up gouge our own brains out.

Amazon, at least, has the common courtesy to run a non-festive, yet entirely excellent buy 2, get 1 free sale in lieu of the expected, ghoulish sales promotions extended by other corporations. The sale applies to a boat-load of fresh hotness like Batman: Arkham City, Dark Souls and The ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, so check it out if you'd rather spend $120 on new games rather than new cavities.

Spooky Savings: Amazon's 'Un-BOO-lievable' Halloween sale

by on Oct 23rd 2011 11:30AM

Autumnal consumerism is usually linked with holidays based around turkeys and/or trees, but that hasn't stopped Amazon from conjuring up some scary-good deals to celebrate All Hallow's Eve.

The available gambit of creepy-eepy savings is fairly all-inclusive, ranging from Halloweenish gore-fests like Dead Island, Rise of Nightmares and Left 4 Dead, to the more subtle, yet still emotionally horrifying Catherine. There are a few odd-balls in there like Dead or Alive Dimensions and Duke Nukem Forever, although we suppose Duke is terrifying in a more abstract sense of the word.

by on Aug 17th 2011 10:00PM

The CapCaptain America: Super Soldier, which isn't too bad as it turns out, has seen its price significantly reduced on Amazon. The Xbox 360 and PS3 version can be had for $30, and the Wii version for $25. Try not to get too immersed -- if you throw the disc at something, it won't come back. Captain America: Super Soldier – $30 [360, PS3], $25 [Wii] (Amazon)
