Next Madden 13 title update lands Thursday, adds Ultimate Team features

by Mike Suszek Writer RSS on Nov 28th 2012 11:30AM

Next Madden 13 title update landing Thursday, adds Ultimate Team featuresThe fourth title update for Madden NFL 13 is scheduled to go live November 29, and includes a few new features for Madden Ultimate Team (MUT). The ability to set multiple lineups for your MUT squad highlights the list of changes. Players will now be able to save up to five different lineups.

Another change coming in this week's title update is described as "more nuanced roster management," and is also geared towards Ultimate Team. Instead of breaking down roster management by offense, defense and special teams in MUT, the update sorts teams by more specific positions, such as offensive line and defensive secondary. Each roster segment will show your team's starters as well as eligible players on your bench. The Madden team is also adding a boosts screen in this update, which will display every ratings boost equipped to your team.

Among the other features being added to MUT are quick collections and the ability to play two minute quarters in the mode. Quick collections reward players that are among the first to finish a card collection in Madden Ultimate Team with special bonuses.

"What we're really striving for is aiming these title updates not just at bug fixes, but adding brand-new content so people feel like they're constantly getting a new game experience," an EA rep told Joystiq. Past title updates added server-side fantasy drafts and player editing in career mode. We've also been told that another announcement is due later this week. Click past the break to see the list of bug fixes included in the update.

These Madden 13 title update bug fixes are the same across Xbox 360 and PS3: Fixed bug where Connected Careers panel in main menu is blankFixed exploit in Madden Ultimate Team Solo Challenges where players were using frozen kick meter to run out the clockFixed issue in Panthers playbook where Shotgun formation was properly displayingFixed squib kick exploitFixed exploit that allowed MLB to get instant pressure when in a specific position with a specific coverage calledFixed bug when reviewing a friend's depth chart in Madden Ultimate TeamFixed erroneous screen telling Madden Ultimate Team players EA servers were unavailable when an opponent signed out before progressing to the loading screenFixed issue where replaying completed Solo Challenges in Madden Ultimate Team consumed contractsFixed issue where Connected Careers offline depth chart would reset after each game when player used imported My Madden rosterFixed issue where users could not save edits to existing NFL players whose names were flagged as profane.Fixed exploit where Madden Ultimate Team users who were kicked out a match for grieving were still granted 800 coinsFixed a menu display bug in Madden Ultimate Team matchmaking screen

Angry Birds Trilogy lands on Wii U, Wii in August

by Sinan Kubba Writer RSS on Jun 27th 2013 5:30PM

Rovio is catapulting the Angry Birds Trilogy onto Wii U and Wii later this summer, with a trailer dating it for the Nintendo systems on August 13. The compendium, comprised of Angry Birds, AB Seasons, and AB Rio, plucks some extra content on Wii U and Wii, while the Wii U version is off-TV compatible and of course features touchscreen controls.

Back when publisher Activision announced the Wii U and Wii versions of the trilogy, it also revealed the mobile money-maker had proven a success on consoles, too. The Xbox 360, PS3, and 3DS versions released late last year shifted a million copies by February 2013.

New Play Control! Pikmin 2 lands in North America this June

by Writer RSS on Apr 24th 2012 7:30PM

ImageThough most of us are excited for the reveal of a new Pikmin, some may still be holding out the tiniest sliver of hope for New Play Control! Pikmin 2. A scan from the latest issue of Nintendo Power (via GoNintendo) says it's coming in June.

The Wii port has been available in Europe and Japan for years now. Nothing specific is mentioned in regards to features of the New Play Control! version, but it'll pretty much be the exact same thing as the 2009 re-release for Japan and Europe.

The Amazing Spider-Man lands June 26

by on Feb 23rd 2012 7:15PM

The Amazing Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood foray into the world of movie tie-in gaming, will be released on June 26 for the 360, PS3, Wii, 3DS and DS, according to Game Informer. This is ahead of the film's theatrical debut on July 3, and seeing as the game serves as an addendum to the film, our initial reaction was to worry about potentially spoiling the ending of the movie ahead of its release.

Spoilers. For The Amazing Spider-Man. While we reel in shame over the sheer stupidity of our own thoughts, check out the game's latest trailer above, courtesy of IGN's YouTube channel.

Amoebattle (DSiWare) Lands on Top 10 Indie Showcase at 2011 Develop Expo

7 July: The Develop Conference today announced the ten games shortlisted to be on display within the Indie Showcase running from 20–21 July in the Develop Expo.

“The response to the Indie Showcase has been amazing. The standard of the games submitted has been exceptional and are a real testament to the innovation and creativity of indie developers,” commented Adam Green of Assyria Games and chair of the judging panel. “Needless to say, it was a very difficult decision for both myself and the rest of the judges to narrow the list down to these final ten; if only we could feature them all! However I’m very excited to see what other developers and publishers think of these games when they have a chance to play them at Develop in a couple of weeks.”

Delegates to the conference will be able to play all ten games on 20 and 21 July in the Indie Showcase area situated within the Expo. The winning game as chosen by the judges will be announced at 1.30pm on Thursday 21 July.

There will also be the chance for all attendees to vote for their favourite Showcase game in the People’s Choice Award – voting slips to be provided and awards presented to the winning developer in a ceremony closing the conference at 5pm on the Thursday.

The Indie Showcase shortlisted games are:

The Dream Machine by Cockroach - a point & click adventure game on PC with characters and props made out of materials like clay and cardboard. You play as a couple who’ve just moved into a new apartment and discover that all is not as it seems.

Kairo by Locked Door Puzzle - an atmospheric 3D exploration and puzzle solving game on PC. Enter this lost world and slowly uncover the true purpose of Kairo and fulfil a great destiny.

Skulls of the Shogun by Haunted Temple Studios - this arcade strategy game on PC is an invigorating cocktail of 1960's flavoured sorcery, arcade button mashing pace and turn based strategy.

Amoebattle by Intrinsic Games - a real-time strategy game developed for the Nintendo DSi. You are a microbiologist with the ability to control amoebas and you must use strategy and wits to defend the microscopic world!

GliD by Spiderling Games - a single player exploration game on PC in which you play as a small robot tasked with exploring and restoring an abandoned world.

Orc Attack by Casual Brothers – a beat’em up multiplayer game for PC, Xbox 360 & PS3. Take the role of a funny and somewhat grubby Orc warrior, who needs to help his mates to recapture their ancestral lands.

The Swapper by Facepalm Games - an ambient puzzle platformer, it features game mechanics centred around the main character’s ability to create clones and swap consciousnesses with them.

Fate of the World by Red Redemption - a PC game that uses scientific models as a backdrop to a challenging and thought-provoking strategy simulation.

Creavures by Muse Games - set in a world with beautiful phosphorescent colours players will take control of five miniature mythical creatures to help them solve mysterious platforming puzzles.

To-Fu The Trails of Chi by HotGen – an iPad game where the player’s main objective is to reach the mystical Fortune Kitty – however, more experienced gamers will enjoy the optional challenge of collecting the game’s 300 emblems.
