Frostbite 2 is a pretty nifty engine, Battlefield 3 being the foremost example of how awesome it is. It has proven itself so much that EA is excited to get the engine to work on other franchises. Need for Speed: The Run uses it and the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be using it. Now it appears that there is a chance that Dead Space could be using Frostbite 2 as well.

A recent tweet from DICE has alluded to the fact that they are jetting around the world, spreading the Frostbite 2 love. Johan Andersson (DICE rendering architect) tweeted, “Flying off to Canada & the US to visit a whole bunch of Frostbite-powered EA studios before GDC” and then “First stop: Montreal.” Two EA studios are located in Montreal, Visceral Games and BioWare also has a presence there.

We have heard in the past that several Dead Space titles could be in the pipeline, including Dead Space 3. This is by no means confirmation that it is happening, but it is a possibility. The other option might be Dragon Age III due to BioWare's presence and potentially lending some credibility to rumoured multiplayer claims for the third installment for the franchise.

We'll keep our ears to the ground for any more rumblings, would you like to see Frostbite 2 put to the test in Dead Space?

I'm super keen to see this in action - wide-scale environmental destruction as well as strategic dismemberment?
I'm on board.

Visceral: 'A lot of discussion' over live-action Dead Space film

by on Jan 28th 2011 4:40PM

Though there are plenty of jollies to be had from the uber-gory Dead Space Aftermath animated feature, we've got a powerful desire in our heart-of-hearts to lay eyes upon a live-action film set in the Dead Space universe. We're not the only ones. In a recent interview with BBC News, Visceral Games art director Ian Milham explained, "We would love to have a live action film and we've had a lot of discussion. But one of the reasons Dead Space still exists and is popular is because we've made sure to do everything right. So we're doing the same with the film, not just a cheap cash-in but to do something really worthwhile, so we'll see."

We appreciate how much thought you're putting into this -- an unprecedented amount of thought, you might say -- though, really, we can't think of an easier game to adapt to film. Here's our simple plan for how we're gonna make this work: Give the rights to adapt the game over to the guys who make the Saw movies.Book two tickets on the 10 o' clock money train to Cashtown.
