Zumba Fitness Rush gets thousands to dance in LA (Look, it's mom!)

by on Mar 29th 2012 6:00PM

This Zumba clip serves as a reminder about the demographic spread of gaming and the power of Zumba Fitness lady's amazing armpits. With over six million units sold, it's not surprising that a demonstration ended up having a few thousand people joining in -- probably didn't hurt that the IHRSA Fitness Convention was going on at the same time either.

Majesco revenues stay fit in quarter due to Zumba Fitness

by on Mar 14th 2012 2:00AM

Majesco only smells one thing when it takes a whiff of Zumba Fitness lady's pits: Sweet, sweet cash! The publisher reported net revenues of $66.2 million for the first quarter ending January 31, up 37 percent from the $48.5 million in the same period a year ago. Profit for the quarter was $7.7 million, up from $6.8 million a year ago.

"Zumba Fitness 2 for the Nintendo Wii got off to a great start, and we are equally excited about Zumba Fitness Rush, which was just released in February, exclusive to the Kinect platform," said CEO Jesse Sutton. "We were also pleased with the performance of several other titles from this past holiday season including Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic on the 3DS, and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked on Kinect, Wii and DS."

Yes, yes, be "pleased" about the rest, but look at all the Zumba money! In January the company announced the Zumba Fitness franchise had sold over 6 million units, with Zumba Fitness 2 surpassing a million in sales. The series continues to be a staple on the UK charts.

FIFA 12 kicks off year atop UK charts, Zumba returns

by on Jan 9th 2012 2:30PM

The first week of 2012 sees massive double-digit percentage drops across Chart-Track's UK sales top ten. FIFA 12 remains at the top, with a 63 percent drop, as Battlefield 3 takes second, despite it being hit with the exact same decrease in sales. Modern Warfare 3 moves into third and Just Dance 3 maintains fourth, with sales slipping 76 and 67 percent, respectively.

With such huge post-holiday sales drops, a stalwart returns to the top ten in fifth: Zumba Fitness. The desire to work off those Christmas pounds sent the exercise game up 11 percent, returning it to the top ten from its exile in 19th place. Several other fitness titles also moved up the charts, despite seeing sales declines, as the chart finds its after the holidays equilibrium. Run past the break for the UK top ten -- we could all use it to work off that fruitcake, phew.

Deus ex machina: Zumba pushed out of UK sales top spot

by on Aug 30th 2011 10:55AM

The ten long weeks of Zumba Fitness and its representative armpits ruling the UK charts is at an end. Deus Ex: Human Revolution has augmented chart news in its debut week, leaping straight to number one. Chart-Track notes that, in just two days of sales, the latest Deus Ex came just 26,000 units short of outperforming Deus Ex: Invisible War's seven years' worth of lifetime sales.

Zumba Fitness still managed to take second place.

But, third place went to another newbie, Rugby World Cup 2011, which was only 400 sales short of overtaking Zumba. Disney's Lego Pirates of the Caribbean kept on sailing strong in fourth, with Call of Duty: Black Ops ascending thirteen spots into fifth, thanks to pricing deals and the launch of the Rezurrection map pack. Head past the break for the UK top ten.

Zumba Fitness works it out for seventh week on UK chart

by on Aug 1st 2011 11:30AM

Zumba Fitness has now maintained seven consecutive weeks atop Chart-Track's UK all formats chart, with a 33 percent increase in sales this past week. One more week in the top spot and Zumba Fitness will have matched the first-place records held by the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Need for Speed: Underground 2.

Adding to the weirdness, Cars 2 sales doubled, placing it in second. The not-very-compelling Call of Juarez: The Cartel enjoyed third and, as if we should be surprised, Just Dance 2: Extra Songs sales increased 127 percent to place it into fourth.

We're going to go take a couple Advil to kill this cognitive dissonance. Check out the UK top ten after the break.

Zumba Fitness shakes it atop UK charts for six weeks straight

by on Jul 25th 2011 9:30AM

Zumba Fitness. Six weeks straight. #1.

Not only that, but as Chart-Track points out, Zumba Fitness has spent 17 straight weeks atop the Wii Full Price Chart. It currently holds the bronze for unbroken weeks at the top, with Wii Fit so close at 19 weeks and Just Dance 2 not far off at 23 weeks.

Ubisoft's Call of Juarez: The Cartel premiered in second, with Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 casting "stupefy" to climb four spots into third.

The only real surprise in the top ten was Dungeon Siege 3's sixth place ascension from just outside the top ten, but that was thanks to a price promotion. Also, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon debuted at number 15. Check out the top of the UK charts after the break.

Zumba Fitness stays atop UK charts for fifth week, LA Noire brings up second place

by on Jun 27th 2011 8:45AM

It seems that 505 Games' Zumba Fitness motion game is destined to occupy every living room in the UK, as it was the UK's highest selling title last week -- even after 31 weeks of availability. Regaining a place in the top five, Rockstar's LA Noire took second place, though it saw a 15 percent dip in sales.

Here's where things get really depressing: Suda 51 and Shinji Mikami's excellent Shadows of the Damned debuted on the charts at number 31, beaten not only by the likes of recently released stinkfest Duke Nukem Forever, but even older titles like Art Academy and EA Sports Active 2. FEAR 3 faced a starkly different reception, landing the number three spot just below LA Noire. We're not mad, UK readers and EA marketers -- just, ya know, disappointed.

Zumba keeps on dancing atop UK charts

by on Apr 18th 2011 9:15AM

Zumba Fitness, which recently launched on Wii, has been working out in the top spot on the UK sales charts for a second week. With Zumba Fitness on the lips (and working those hips) of the populace, the Xbox 360 version also saw a 14 percent sales increase.

Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars and Crysis 2 dueled for second, but ultimately the multiplatform blockheads used The Force to push the billion-dollar nanosuit down into third.

Chart-Track notes that the upcoming Easter holiday spurred plenty of retailer sales, which likely contributed to strong sales increases of Call of Duty: Black Ops (+62%, #9), Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (+112%, #11) and Red Dead Redemption (+458%, #13). Head past the break for the top ten.

Wii Zumba Review - Can You Lose Weight at Home With a Video Game?

If you are looking for a way to lose weight or shape up you be considering buying the new Wii Zumba Fitness game. It seems like workout video games are becoming all the rage and now the Zumba franchise is cashing in on this market as well.

There are some definitely pros and cons when it comes to this workout game. It's always a good idea to read over reviews closely before you spend your money on a fitness product.

Wii Zumba Review

One of the best things about the Zumba game is that you can do it from the privacy of your own home. You don't have to head to the gym to take a class and you don't have to worry about being embarrassed about dancing and working out in front of other people. In fact you can start off with this game and then once you master some of the moves then head out to your local gym to get in a class.

This more you practice the moves in this game the more things you are able to unlock, such as different background scenes, more routines, and different music. The game features over 30 different Zumba routines and teaches several different styles of dance from salsa to hip hop. They all have that Latin twist to them just like the real Zumba workouts do.

There are some workouts that you do and you actually dread doing them. This video game workout is definitely not one of those. In fact, you may not even feel like you are working out when you follow along with the Wii Zumba game. It definitely motivates you to work out more and with all the sweating you will do, you are bound to lose some inches off your body.

One of the cons of this video game is that once you master all of the routines you may grow tired of the video game. Now, this may take you awhile to do, but if work out with the game 5 times a week eventually you will go through all the routines. This is why I recommend that you get this video game and add it into your workout routine and not simply make it your whole routine. For example you could do the Zumba game twice a week on Monday and Fridays and then another game or workout DVD on Wednesday s and Saturdays.

If you have never tried Zumba before there will be a learning curve that you have to get over, but the video does a pretty good job at targeting different exercise levels from beginner to more advanced. It will take some time though to learn all the moves and you may become frustrated at first. If you don't like to learn new things or you don't like to dance, then this video game workout may not be for you.

The Wii Zumba Fitness game does a good job at bringing your typical class home to your own television. If you are looking to lose weight or shape up with this game, then that all depends on how much effort you put into your workouts.
