[Wii U] The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD sails into Wii U waters this October

[Wii U] The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD sails into Wii U waters this October
[Image: game-news-image-2013-ed46d6545360a27ee5a...bae70c.jpg]
I loved The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, in fact it is easily one of my favourite Zelda games of all time. It's way up the list with the likes of A Link to the Past, Majora's Mask, and of course Ocarina of Time.

So the idea of playing through the game again in high-definition is an immediate must-have as far as I'm concerned. Nintendo seemed to know this and had it on display at PAX Australia a few weeks ago; it was awesome.

Eager Wii U fans will be able to pick up their Wind Waker baton and jump in the King of Red Lions once again on October 4th in Europe and some time in October in North America (seriously, this press release just says "This game launches this October.")

Here's some direct feed footage from the stream courtesy of the attractive folk at GameXplain.

You'll also notice that Iwata also mentions the alterations to the game, including the sail speed and adjustments to the item collection quest towards the end of the game. However, rumours suggesting the game will feature a new difficulty remain unconfirmed.

[Wii U, 3DS] Sonic Lost World brings the blue blue to Wii U and 3DS this October

[Image: game-news-image-2013-50a9f4eb4adc9ddec94...268184.jpg]
Nintendo started their Nintendo Direct off with some new information regarding Sonic Lost World, it was also accompanied with some new footage.

Firstly, Nintendo confirmed that Sonic Lost World will be available for the Wii U and 3DS on October 18th in Europe and on October 22nd in North America.

Secondly, the stream revealed that the game includes special radio controlled gadgets that players will be able to create and customise on the 3DS version of the game. After they've created a gadget they are happy with they'll be able to send it to the Wii U version and use it in the game's co-operative multiplayer modes.

Lastly, here's the footage that was shown in the stream courtesy of GameXplain.

This game actually looks quite good, it could be the first Sonic game worth keeping an eye on in a long while. What will you be picking it up for; Wii U or 3DS?

October NPD: Downward trend continues, NBA 2K13 dunks at the top

by Writer RSS on Nov 8th 2012 7:15PM

Based on the NPD's purview, the physical sales sector of the video game industry continued its downward year-over-year trend as October came and went, raking in $755.5 million for the period ending on October 27, as compared with the straight-up $1 billion the industry earned during the same period in 2011.

Despite the 25 percent difference, however, momentum is building towards the holiday buying season, according to NPD Group analyst Liam Callahan: "While we saw declines in hardware unit sales across all platforms year-over-year, when looking at average sales per week versus September, several consoles realized higher sales: The 360, PS3, NDS and 3DS. This is a sign of increasing momentum as we move into the holiday season."

Hardware sales themselves accounted for $187.3 million of October's overall figure, a 37 percent decrease over October 2011's $295.9 million. As usual, the Xbox 360 was the top-selling hardware platform and claimed more than 40 percent of the market, according to Major Nelson.

Accessories continue to be the only field of growth in the physical channel, pulling down a five percent increase in October 2012 over October 2011 ($135.6 million and $129.6, respectively). As has been the case in months past, Skylanders toys and digital currency giftcards are primarily responsible for this segment's prosperity.

Portable software sales were up 37 percent in comparison with last October thanks to the release of Pokémon Black & White 2, though the rest of the segment failed to best the curve and was down overall by 25 percent. October 2011's software figure of $576.8 million was bolstered by the release of both Battlefield 3 and Batman: Arkham City; since comparable heavy-hitters were missing from this October's release schedule, software sales total at $432.6 million.

October's top 10 best-selling games are lead by NBA 2K13, which "outsold last year's 2K12 by over 60 percent in both dollars and units," according to Callahan. As per usual, the full list can be found after the break.

NBA 2K13 slotted for October 2

by Writer RSS on May 22nd 2012 5:25PM

ImageNBA 2K13 is set to launch on October 2 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP and PC, Take-Two Interactive announced today. This is in line with the October precedence set by previous NBA 2K titles. Developer 2K Sports has yet to reveal any details about the game, but our best guess is that it will feature an orange ball and some tall dudes.

2K13's direct predecessor, NBA 2K12, shipped 5 million units, Take-Two said.

[Multi] Assassin's Creed 3 Dated for October 30

[Multi] Assassin's Creed 3 Dated for October 30
[Image: game-news-image-2012-9112b905682d9255d20...084e4a.jpg]
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemont announced during an earnings call today that Assassin's Creed 3 will be launching on October 30 of this year, however he didn't divulge any further details. He is saying that AC3 will be the biggest game in the series so far though and that development on the title has been underway for three years.

We already know that the third numbered entry in the popular franchise will finally wrap up Desmond's storyline and will feature both a new protagonist and a new setting for the series. Last year, Ubisoft conducted a survey that polled fans on which setting they would like to see in the next Assassin's Creed, which included such options as ancient Egypt (heavily rumored to be the favorite), feudal Japan, and the American Revolution, among others.

Platforms have not yet been specified either, leaving us to wonder if AC3 is the Assassin's Creed game that Ubisoft has already confirmed to be in development for the Wii U and/or PlayStation Vita. The series is yet to appear on a Nintendo home console.

October NPD: 3DS rising, a good month for games with 'Bat' in the title (Update: BF3, Batman, RAGE numbers)

by on Nov 11th 2011 6:50PM

Microsoft claims another month on top for the Xbox 360, with 393,000 units sold for the NPD's October sales period, 20% up year over year and, in the words of MS Chief of Staff for Interactive Entertainment Business Aaron Greenberg, the system's "biggest October ever." Following up is ... the 3DS, randomly bouncing back two months after its price drop, with "over 250,000" sold, according to Nintendo.

Try to look shocked when we tell you that Battlefield 3 topped the software chart. The top six games on NPD's sales chart are all October releases, with Batman: Arkham City, NBA 2K12, Rage, Just Dance 3, and -- believe it or not -- super-hardcore, unfriendly RPG Dark Souls all placing. Find the full top ten after the break.

Naval gazing at crime scenes: NCIS game coming in October

by on Sep 21st 2011 2:30PM

Only Europeans are interested in seeing the US Navy solve crimes in 3D. At least, that seems to be the assumption Ubisoft is working under, announcing an EMEA-exclusive 3DS game based on NCIS, the long-running police procedural starring Mr. Shoop from Summer School.

Don't worry, American fans of the show (of which there must be many, considering that it's been on for nine seasons) -- you'll still be able to "investigate crime scenes as agents Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo, conduct forensics analyses as Abby Sciuto, perform victim autopsies as Ducky Mallard, interrogate and break suspects as special agent Gibbs, and use satellite tracking to apprehend bad guys on the run as special agent McGee." Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PC versions are planned for worldwide release on October 27 (according to the press release; October 28 in the trailer).

Why is the 3DS version limited to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa? That sounds like a mystery -- to the NCIS-mobile! Split up, gang, we can find the answer in this spooky old press release!

... We haven't watched much NCIS. It's like Scooby-Doo, right? Maybe it's more like the trailer, which has The Sims investigating crime scenes.
