[PS3, X360] Behind the Scenes with Jimmy Urine on Lollipop Chainsaw's soundtrack

[PS3, X360] Behind the Scenes with Jimmy Urine on Lollipop Chainsaw's soundtrack
Lollipop Chainsaw is looking like it is pretty zany and is definitely channeling No More Heroes, here's a new video that goes behind-the-scenes with Jimmy Urine (Composer for Lollipop Chainsaw and voice of Zed) and Akira Yamaoka (Sound Director for Lollipop Chainsaw) on the creation of the soundtrack.
Lollipop Chainsaw is slated to be hitting stores on the 12th of June for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Partial Retro City Rampage soundtrack available online, for free

by on Nov 5th 2011 5:00AM

Waiting for a game is probably the worst thing in the world. But if you're waiting for Retro City Rampage, you can at least ease that burden a bit by checking out select tracks from the game's soundtrack right now, free of charge.

This Soundcloud page has a few of the game's tracks for streaming or download, as well as some remixes that were the product of a recent contest. We're not sure how long it'll be available, but said page says to look for the full soundtrack in January or February 2012. We've contacted Brian Provinciano, the game's creator, who told us that these tracks will be available indefinitely. The full soundtrack is being printed right now, but you'll have to (obviously) pay money for it.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has fully orchestrated soundtrack

by on Oct 3rd 2011 5:32PM

Put down your recently sharpened number two pencil and that crisp piece of parchment, there's no need for strongly worded letters. Unlike The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Link's final adventure on Nintendo Wii will have an entirely orchestrated soundtrack. Nintendo of America confirmed as much to me this morning during a brief play session with the upcoming sky-bound Hyrulian romp, Skyward Sword.

It's not as though the news is entirely unexpected, however -- Nintendo production head Shigeru Miyamoto hinted at the possibility earlier this year during E3, when he told attendees of his developer roundtable, "I don't think we could do what we did with Mario Galaxy 2 and not try to match that with Zelda." And hey, considering that Nintendo brought out a full orchestra just for its E3 presser, we're glad that the company would deem its big upcoming Wii title worthy as well.

Monstrous Rhythm Heaven soundtrack announced for Japan

by on Aug 3rd 2011 1:50AM

While the rest of the world has to wait indefinitely for the Wii Rhythm Heaven (it has a TBA release date in the West), it's out in Japan as of last month. And now that Japanese version is being joined by an enormous soundtrack collection ... that will almost certainly never be released outside of Japan.

The ¥4,800 ($62) soundtrack comprises an impressive four discs and 177 tracks, including all the music from Minna no Rhythm Tengoku ("Everybody's Rhythm Heaven," the Japanese title for the game) and the two previous games. It'll be out -- in Japan -- on August 24.

We Dare trailer mocked with Flash demake, soundtrack recuts

by on Feb 24th 2011 9:30PM

It didn't take long for the video game community to speak out about the plainly ridiculous We Dare trailer released today, and the venom it's inspired has gotten creative. Developers Stew Hogarth and @hypnic__jerk have assembled this Flash demake of the title, and while it doesn't actually require a Wii to play, it offers pretty much the same quantity and quality of amusement we expect from the game.

And then there's the trailers after the break, both recut versions of Ubisoft's video with some more ... inspired video game trailer soundtrack choices. These are a must if you like laughing, go check them out. We dar ... aww, forget it.

Silent Hill soundtrack collection is frighteningly huge

by on Feb 23rd 2011 11:30PM

For the next entry in its outlandishly enormous CD box set series, Konami is releasing a collection of music from the Silent Hill series. The Silent Hill Sounds Box, despite its name, isn't just nine discs full of radio static; it's actually eight discs of game soundtracks, from the original through Silent Hill: The Arcade, with a ninth disc full of trailers.

The ¥13,230 ($160) set also includes a booklet full of concept art. It'll be released in Japan on March 16, but is unlikely to make it into even the least haunted towns in America.
