[GC'13, Multi] New trailer surfaces for Thief reboot; February 2014 release confirmed

Eidos-Montreal have been working on on Garrett, the Master Thief, and his comeback game and Square Enix have filled us in on when we'll be able to experience the fruits of their labour.

Thief will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on February 25th, 2014 (North America) and February 28th (Europe). So if you are a fan of the franchise this will be a game worth keeping an eye on. The title will also be featured at Gamescom next week and as a result Square Enix have prepared a new trailer to celebrate.

I'm finding myself somewhat anxious about this game, I have fond memories of the original Thief games and can't shake the feeling that this title may not fill the void. I am willing to give it a chance though, so I'd best start training my first-person stealth abilities in preparation.

[PC, PS3] Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons confirmed for PC and PlayStation 3

[PC, PS3] Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons confirmed for PC and PlayStation 3
[Image: game-news-image-2013-10b9e6efa5e215181d4...671459.jpg]
Starbreeze Studios' new game, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, was recently released for Microsoft's Xbox 360 and it has been receiving some very positive press.

Today the developer has confirmed that the game, that supposedly tests the limits of brotherly love, will be released on both PC (via Steam) and PlayStation 3 on the 3rd of September for $14.99.

I'm happy to hear this, especially after seeing all of the positive feedback the game has been enjoying. For awhile there I was worried I'd have to sink some more money on my housemate's Xbox 360.

Thanks Polygon.

[3DS] Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy confirmed for Western release

[3DS] Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy confirmed for Western release
[Image: game-news-image-2013-8058aa8985b79eaf05b...189d0c.jpg]
Professor Layton's final adventure, Azran Legacy, was confirmed for Western release during the Nintendo Direct. The news will come as a relief for fans of Professor Layton in both Europe and North America, but it comes with a pinch of bad news.

A press release has confirmed that the game will release in Europe on the 8th of November both physically and digitally, but the American release date appears to be 2014 at this point. I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping that this changes, because it is quite strange that Europe has been receiving so many large Nintendo releases ahead of our American brethren recently (including Pikmin 3 and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team).

Do you think we'll get any additional doses of Layton goodness after this game?

[Wii U, 3DS] Year of Luigi continues as Luigi is confirmed for new Super Smash Bros.

[Wii U, 3DS] Year of Luigi continues as Luigi is confirmed for new Super Smash Bros.
Nintendo is continuing the Year of Luigi celebrations by announcing him as the newest playable character in the Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. currently in development.

Disappointingly the images don't seem to confirm any new moves for him, personally I'd been hoping he'd include some tools from his exploits in Luigi's Mansion 2. Hopefully Sakurai has more announcements regarding his moveset up his sleeve still.

Here's a look at Luigi in action in both the Wii U and 3DS games.

You can see more images of the green plumber at the official site.

Hopefully this means we'll learn about new details concerning the Super Smash Bros. games in each Nintendo Direct, that could just be wishful thinking on my part though.

[Wii U] Absence of local co-op in Wii U version of Splinter Cell Blacklist confirmed

[Wii U] Absence of local co-op in Wii U version of Splinter Cell Blacklist confirmed
[Image: game-news-image-2013-eed25f8f4889706ec5d...b362f3.jpg]
Splinter Cell: Blacklist will not have local (offline) co-operative play on the Wii U; despite still having online co-operative play as an option.

Liu Jun, Producer on Splinter Cell: Blacklist, confirmed the absence of the feature in an interview with Nintendo Life. Jun cites the game's ship date as the reason to leave the feature out of the Wii U version.

"In order to ship at the same time as the other consoles, we unfortunately weren't able to delve into this feature," said Jun. "But we think Nintendo gamers will be really excited to get the game at the same time as other consoles."

I can understand Jun's point, it also upholds Ubisoft's policy with releasing games across all available platforms in the same window. If there's any consolation prize to be taken away from this it is the confirmation that the Wii U will still have online co-op, a feature that will not be included in the Wii U version of Batman: Arkham Origins later this year, as well as taking full advantage of the Wii U's GamePad and included a DLC schedule that is the same as the other platforms.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist releases this month for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360.

[PC, PS3, X360] New Borderlands 2 DLC confirmed as "Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage"

[PC, PS3, X360] New Borderlands 2 DLC confirmed as "Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage"
I hope you like explosions. Because if you don't then you might want to skip the next Borderlands 2 expansion, because it will contain copious amounts of explosions.

It had already been revealed by a Borderlands 2 update but now it has completely confirmed. Mr. Torgue took over a Gearbox twitter account to make the announcement.

"Are you badass enough to survive 'Mister Torgue's Campaign of Carnage? I'm legit curious cause I dunno you that well," wrote Torgue.

He also has shared a picture of himself throwing "up the horns like a badass."

[Image: game-news-image-2012-ac335ac381837320756...8304ab.jpg]
The DLC will cost the same as Captain Scarlett did, which was $9.99/800MSP, and a release date will be announced in a couple of days.

by Writer RSS on Oct 25th 2012 8:20AM

Dragon Quest X Wii U confirmed for Spring 2013 in JapanDragon Quest X will be released in Japan for Wii U in Spring 2013, Square Enix announced today. Last month DQX producer Yosuke Saito told attendees at the Tokyo Game Show that next Spring was the aim, but the release window was confirmed today during a Nintendo Direct for Japan.

An open beta is scheduled for February 2013. Saito also confirmed Square Enix is working on making Wii characters compatible with the Wii U version.

The MMO arrived on Wii back in August, selling over 400,000 units in its first week. A Western release for either verson remains unconfirmed, so don't start pencilling away the greater part of 2013 just yet.

[PC, PS3, X360] Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 title and release date confirmed by Target

[PC, PS3, X360] Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 title and release date confirmed by Target
This news shouldn't really surprise anyone, we've been hearing about Black Ops 2 for awhile now we just had nothing concrete to go with beyond our own logic. Now it appears the cat is out of the bag, IGN was sent the following image of some Target gift cards that confirm both the game's title and the release date. [Image: game-news-image-2012-a5c87f10d16018a69ef...031596.jpg]
So, as you can see it will be called Black Ops 2 and will also be releasing on the rumoured 13th of November date that been buzzing around the internet. The game is being properly shown off during the NBA playoffs on the 1st of May but it looks like the cat is out of the bag now.

What would you like to see Treyarch do with Black Ops 2? Do you want a direct sequel? Or would you prefer the series goes in a different direction completely? Let your thoughts be heard in the comment section!

[DS] Pokémon Conquest confirmed for US release this June

[DS] Pokémon Conquest confirmed for US release this June
Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition is probably the most bizarre Pokémon title released to date, so it was assumed it may never make its way across to America. Nintendo have seen to it that it does, confirming it will release under the new title Pokémon Conquest for Nintendo DS on the 18th of June.
That was the announcement trailer (as well as the intro movie) that Nintendo sent out recently, anyone out there eager to see how the game plays? It definitely looks like the most interesting Pokémon game in recent years.

Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion confirmed for 3DS

While many speculated if Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion would come to the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Power magazine has confirmed. While not too many details are known, the cover of the magazine definitely confirms that the game will exist.

Update: As it turns out, this will be a sequel to the 1990 Sega Genesis game, Castle of Illusion.” It will be a side-scroller but still keep the painting mechanic, incorporating the stylus.

Capcom are also happy to confirm the game's PC release date is the 11th of May, so PC fans will have to wait a bit longer than the console release dates of 6th of March in the US and the 9th of March in Europe.

Will you be picking up Capcom's newest cross-over fighting game?

[Wii] Modern Warfare 3 Confirmed for Wii

[Wii] Modern Warfare 3 Confirmed for Wii
[Image: game-news-image-2011-be3daddc12d654861f7...0dc9df.jpg]
Wii owners haven't been able to join in on the Call of Duty craze as consistently as their Xbox 360 and PS3 brethren the past few years. While last year's Black Ops, 2008's World at War, and Call of Duty 3 in 2006 were all represented on the Wii, both Modern Warfare in 2007 and 2009's Modern Warfare 2 skipped Nintendo's console (although the first MW eventually showed up on the Wii two years later).

Wii owners can rest easy this year though, as Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg announced during an investor call today that Modern Warfare 3 will be coming to the Wii. "We're pleased to have recently confirmed that we will release a Modern Warfare 3 Wii SKU this year, so as not to leave any of the community out of the excitement," said Hirshberg.

The four Call of Duty titles to land on the Wii have collectively sold over 6.2 million copies, the most of which surprisingly came from Call of Duty 3, which sold 2.1 million copies. Modern Warfare 3 is slated for release on November 8.

[Wii] Xenoblade: Chronicles confirmed for Australian release

[Wii] Xenoblade: Chronicles confirmed for Australian release
Xenoblade: Chronicles is already available in Japan and is confirmed for Europe in August. All of this is on top of news that Nintendo of America have outlined their lack of interest in localising the game for America. To rub more salt in the wound, the game has been confirmed for release in Australia.

The game will be available in the land down under on the 1st of September for AU $99.95. For that price you'll also receive a 12 track limited edition soundtrack CD. However, there has been no talk of whether they'll also get the red Classic Controller Pro but it is worth noting that was a Game UK exclusive over in Europe so maybe it'd be best to wait for Game AU's response.

[3DS] Shinobi 3DS Confirmed, First Trailer
[Image: game-news-image-2011-1c975d731b61cc0b4dc...4610ef.jpg]
Following recent rumors that Shinobi will soon be making its long-awaited return, SEGA confirmed today that Shinobi is indeed under development by Griptonite Games exclusively for the 3DS.

“For years the fans have been asking for a new Shinobi,” said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing of SEGA West. “With Shinobi on Nintendo 3DS we are able to answer their prayers and bring this legendary series to the next level.”

According to the press release, "Shinobi tells the story of Jiro Musashi, the leader of the Oboro clan and father of Joe Musashi, the hero of the first iterations of Shinobi. Players will become a true ninja legend by mastering a brand new combo system switching between melee, ranged and acrobatic attacks. They will also need to rely on Jiro’s ninja magic to get an advantage over their enemies and get out of tight spots."

Shinobi will be released sometime this September. Below is the game's first trailer.

Sonic Generations Confirmed for 3DS

The new Sonic game for 3DS has finally been confirmed as the 20th Anniversary birthday project, Sonic Generations.

A version of the much anticipated 2D Sonic revival has been strongly hinted at for 3DS in Sega’s listings, but was since removed. Spanish Nintendo magazine, Nintendo Acción magazine, mentioned that there’s a new 3DS game within the Sonic franchise, but didn’t go into much detail.

Finally the cover of an upcoming issue of Nintendo Power confirms Sonic Generations for 3DS (Pictured Above). Not much else is known though, like whether it would be a similar 2D/3D concept or something completely different for a portable Sonic game.

[Project Cafe] Nintendo's new hardware all but confirmed?

[Project Cafe] Nintendo's new hardware all but confirmed?
Gamers have uncovered another clue that could be further proof that Nintendo's next piece of hardware is indeed labelled as 'Project Cafe'. The discovery came from Wario World, which is the website where developers can order hardware or seek development support.

What was the discovery exactly? Well, entering in http://www.warioworld.com/cafe redirects you to the main Wario World site. If you try any other sort of word then it will give you a 404 page. Further more the following banner was discovered on the website:

[Image: game-news-image-2011-0d8a504e669ead8d67e...b5ca1c.jpg]
Another picture was also discovered which is just a picture of a latte and it says 'Cafe'. It all seems like too much of a coincidence, also considering the thumbnail was added on the 5th of April and the banner came around ten days later (roughly the same day that the rumours started pouring out). Tomorrow is when Nintendo will be holding their investor meeting, so chances are something could be teased at tomorrow. How much we'll know about it unknown at this point, but this new development does give fans something to chew on while they wait for Nintendo to make their next move.

“Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version” Confirmed as Nintendo eShop Launch Title

When Nintendo opens their new eShop on the Nintendo 3DS next month, we are sure to get one title that will excite many gamers. Capcom has just announced that Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version will be a launch title for the eShop. In addition, this game will be “co-developed by the fans.” New characters and close combat are among the other new features.

Below are some screenshots and the official announcement from Capcom, themselves, which includes more information on the game and the fan contribution elements.

After years of waiting, the new installment of Mega Man Legends draws closer with Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version. Available as a download, Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version will be a launch title when Nintendo eShop opens for business.

Mega Man Legends 3 is the first Capcom game to be co-developed by the fans. Prototype Version gives players the first taste of Mega Man’s upcoming open-world action/adventure game, and lets them see a game still early in the development process. It also introduces a new character to the franchise, the reckless leader of a sky biker gang, Barrett.

Be the first to try out his new close combat gameplay style, and see first-hand some of the fan contributions to the game come to life. Also, once you have finished the core missions, receive access to areas of the game not yet finished, as well as a debug menu that gives you special moves and abilities.

Once you experience the game, let your voice be heard by heading to www.capcom-unity.com/devroom and join the community of Servbots who are helping design the game. Get insight into what it takes to build a game, learn about the development process, and interact with the members of the Development Team themselves. But most importantly, be creative. No matter how large or small your idea is, you have the chance to see it come to life and get your name in the credits of the game!
