NintendoWare Weekly: Blaster Master: Enemy Below, Carmen Sandiego

by on Dec 15th 2011 2:00PM

A relatively obscure sequel to a very popular NES game appears on the 3DS eShop this week: Sunsoft's Blaster Master: Enemy Below for Game Boy Color. It's time to return to the world of upside-down space trucks and floating cyborg head things.

WiiWare offers a new Carmen Sandiego game (what?) about math (what?) and DSiWare shows it is possible to offer a retail DS game as a download -- though that functionality has so far been almost the exclusive domain of tiny publishers. For example, today we have Elite Forces: Unit 77 from Gammick Entertainment, and a game in the spirit of a retail DS release: a new sequel to 2007's WordJong.

WiiWare Carmen Sandiego Adventures in Math: The Lady Liberty (Gamelion, 1-6 players, 600 Wii Points): Solve math puzzles in order to stop Carmen Sandiego from getting away with the Statue of Liberty.Demo: Paint Splash (KnapNok, 1-4 players, 0 Wii Points): What would it be like to draw with your Wiimote? If you can't imagine that, try this demo.3DS eShop Blaster Master: Enemy Below (Game Boy Color) (Sunsoft, 1 player, $4.99): A sequel to the NES classic, featuring the same mix of side-scrolling vehicle and top-down on-foot exploration.DSiWare Elite Forces: Unit 77 (Gammick Entertainment, 1-4 players, $7.99/800 DSi Points): Formerly a retail DS game, now you can download this isometric military action game.WordJong Arcade (Magellan Interactive, 1 player, $7.99/800 DSi Points): TextJust SING! Christmas Vol. 3 (dtp young entertainment, 1 player, $1.99/200 DSi Points): Tis the season to sing into your DS.

Okamiden Character and Enemy Reveals – Feb. 3, 2011

Up until the release of Okamiden for Nintendo DS on March 15, 2011, Capcom will be releasing weekly info, screens, and video. This week, we find out about four characters.

Ryo
This demon is the sum of all those who lusted after worldly pelf. At some point this demon traded the pursuit of riches for human souls. He is always calculating the best ways of luring new souls to his clutches, and will use any means he can to obtain them including lending out souls in order to collect a fatally high interest.

Shiranui
The grandfather of Chibiterasu, an incarnation of Amaterasu, the sun-god-turned-wolf in ?kami.

Isshaku
The grandfather of Issun, he played a big role in expelling Orochi over 100 years ago.  Once the companion of Shiranui (the incarnation of Amaterasu at that time), he watched helplessly as Shiranui sacrificed himself for the sake of Nippon.

Shakuya
The spirit of the sacred tree, Konohana, and watches over Kamiki Village.  She gives advice to Chibiterasu in an effort to save Nippon from the evil that has attacked the land once more.
