Congratulations on 300 Billion Gold Coins in NSMB2; Here is Your Reward!

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Nintendo fans worldwide have amassed a mountain of more than 300 billion gold coins in New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Nintendo 3DS system, and the tally continues to climb. To reward players for hitting this massive milestone, Nintendo is offering a free pack of Coin Rush courses that game owners can download wirelessly within the game at no extra charge (broadband Internet access is required).

The free Gold Classics Pack was inspired by games like Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3, and includes three new courses that can be played in Coin Rush mode. Players can test their skills, then share and challenge other players’ records through the StreetPass feature. The Gold Classics Pack is now available and will be free for a limited time to New Super Mario Bros. 2 owners. Starting Feb. 1, 2013, the pack will be available to purchase for $2.50 in the United States. A variety of other downloadable Coin Rush course packs are available for purchase through the New Super Mario Bros. 2 game.

“Nintendo fans have once again demonstrated their passion for the Super Mario Bros. franchise,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The Gold Classics Pack is just one small way for us to thank players for their dedication. We’re all eager to see just how high that coin tally can get.”

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is the side-scrolling follow-up to the smash-hit original. It challenges players to complete levels while collecting as many coins as possible. Every level is littered with gold coins, and players will find numerous power-ups and bonuses to help them collect even more coins. It’s the first hand-held Super Mario Bros. game that lets two players play through the entire game together as Mario and Luigi. The game is available in stores, or can be downloaded from the Nintendo eShop for $39.99 in the United States.

Remember that Nintendo 3DS features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/3ds.

Buy Dr. Mario, Majora's Mask with Club Nintendo coins

by on Jan 11th 2012 4:00PM

If you'd rather use your Club Nintendo coins to get actual video games than exclusive swag, you have some new choices, as Nintendo has cycled in some different 3DS eShop, WiiWare, and Wii Virtual Console games for redemption.

For 100 coins, you can get Dr. Mario Online Rx (WiiWare) or the Virtual Console version of Kirby's Dream Land (3DS). For 150 Coins each, you can get The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Wii VC) or Dr. Mario Express (3DS). Note that Dr. Mario Express is actually a DSiWare game, but this offer can only be redeemed for a 3DS download code.

If you're interested in turning your coins (which you got from buying games) into one of these games, you have until January 31. Nintendo will cycle in more games after that point.

[Thanks, Alan]

Now you can exchange Club Nintendo Coins for games

by on Dec 15th 2011 11:00AM

If your home is already full to bursting with Mario paraphernalia, you'll be delighted to learn that you can exchange your Club Nintendo Coins for downloadable games. Nintendo is featuring a rotating selection of WiiWare, Virtual Console, DSiWare, and eShop downloads offered on the North American Club Nintendo site.

Through January 10, your choices include Super Mario Kart (100 Coins), 3D Classics: Xevious (100 Coins), Fluidity (150 Coins), and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again (150 Coins). In a way, this is really cheap as it trades illusory fun money for games -- but in another way, it's outrageously expensive as said fun money is only acquired through the for-real purchase of multiple games.

Those of you with more space for swag have new reward options as well: three different, adorable Mario notebooks, and a Zelda poster set.

[3DS] Details Revealed for 3DS Play Coins

02-12-2011, 07:49 PM (This post was last modified: 02-12-2011 07:50 PM by LemonManX.) [3DS] Details Revealed for 3DS Play Coins The Nintendo 3DS will allow developers to utilise 'Play Coins' which gamers will be able to use for a variety of things (depending on how the developer wants to use them). For example, in LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars you will be able to buy extra content with your Play Coins and in Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition will allow you to gamble with them to hopefully obtain a new Battle Figure.

You might be wondering: just how do I earn these Play Coins? Luckily, it is quite simple. Gamers will earn Play Coins by walking around with their 3DS on them, this will also encourage gamers to use the system's StreetPass and SpotPass features.

However, restrictions have been put in place in order to stop people from achieving insane amounts of Play Coins. You can earn 1 Play Coin for ever 100 steps and you will only be able to earn 10 Play Coins a day. This is combined with the fact that the 3DS will only allow you to have 300 Play Coins at any one time.
