In is little more than a formality, Minecraft developer Mojang has announced an official release date of November 11th for the mega-popular sandbox game. However, the event will amount to little more than the dropping of the "Beta" label, as the game itself won't be much different than it is now. Not to mention that nearly 2 million people have already purchased the beta version of Minecraft. Creator Markus "Notch" Persson reassures players that new updates and features will continue to be added to the experience after the official release date.
It is also no coincidence that the game will launch alongside one of 2011's most highly anticipated titles, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Notch notes that it is one of the games he is personally most excited about, and would consider it as a reward for his own landmark occasion of officially launching Minecraft.
