The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, in HD thanks to emulation

by on Nov 17th 2011 6:15PM

Whenever a new Wii game comes out, players set to work opening up the PC-based Dolphin emulator, upscale the graphics to HD resolution, and take screenshots for us to drool over -- like the Skyward Sword images posted on the software's forum.

The normally soft, watercolor-y backgrounds look a little strange in HD -- we can't decide if it's more of the intended effect, or just oddly blurry. But there's no such conflict when it comes to the characters -- they look amazing. We're just going to cross our fingers for upscaling functionality when the Wii U comes along.

I got my first StreetPass! Thanks Prozax!

This article is a quick shout out to Prozax from Florida, whom I hope after seeing my Streetpass greeting will visit our site.  Nearly a month after picking up my Nintendo 3DS and carrying it with me just about every place I go, I finally made a StreetPass connection.  I went out to Walmart on my lunch hour to buy a couple things and when I got back I noticed my notification light was green.  I was pretty sure it was going to be Streetpass, but it was still cool just seeing the notification when I opened the 3DS.

So with the help of Prozax, along with some other animal heroes I hired, I fought my way through another room in the “Find Mii” game and currently I’m up against an Armored Ghost.  On the puzzle side of things, I already completed the Super Mario Galaxy puzzle with my playcoins a fews back.  However, I had no new panels to collect for, until today.  Now I get to work on Metroid: Other M.

So Prozax, if you are reading this, thanks for checking out the site! Maybe I’ll run into you again, I’m at Walmart once a week.

More Guitar Hero and DJ Hero DLC coming thanks to 'continued support' from fans

by on Feb 26th 2011 5:00PM

Though the DLC well for the Guitar Hero and DJ Hero franchises was supposed to dry up at the end of this month, it seems that Activision's not quite ready to retire the ol' pump (or bucket, depending on how old-timey the well in question is). The official Twitter feeds for both series have announced that more DLC is planned for their respective stores, citing "continued support" from their communities for the change in position.

Both feeds promised that more information about the new content is coming "soon" -- we'll let you know when we learn more. That is, after we scold Activision for playing with our emotions so recklessly. Seriously, this is like the time our parents told us our hamster died, and then a week later, told us that they were just kidding about the hamster thing, only we later found out that, yes, our hamster was actually totally dead the whole time.
