You probably saw the review roundup for Slant Six's Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, so you'll probably know that it has been getting almost universally panned by critics.
Eurogamer reached out to Slant Six to gauge their reactions to the reviews that the result of their hard work had been receiving, despite the response they are staying positive. Producer, Mike Kerr, talked with Eurogamer about how the studio have been handling the feedback.
"In the end, I think our position on it is that we read every review and we try to pull out all the constructive feedback that we can so we can learn a little about what people liked and what they didn't."
"Then we look to what our internal goals were and what Capcom asked us to do and I think we accomplished what they wanted to do - we took the Resident Evil franchise in a different direction."
Kerr mentions that overall Slant Six is very happy to have had the chance to work with Capcom as they allowed them to express their own creativity within the franchise. Their next project is a new IP, Strata Scavenger, and a mysterious project for an unknown game publisher. Have you tried Resident Evil: Opeartion Raccoon City? I had a chance to try it back in October and definitely noticed some problems but now the final version is out there in the hands of the public. I guess at least it sounds like Capcom is happy... even if the Resident Evil franchise has been facing some criticism recently with even Capcom stating that the market for survival-horror in its traditional form is a niche market. What are your thoughts?
