[3DS] Review Roundup - Super Mario 3D Land
[Image: game-news-image-2011-491a4c8fb09bc2524a2...057e73.png]GameSpot - 8/10 - "Super Mario 3D Land puts the plumber though his paces with yet another search-and-rescue mission to find a missing princess. Along the way it successfully translates the classic, 2D Mario feel into a 3D setting that feels unique from the series' other 3D releases. Some of the game's other features fall disappointingly short of this creative mark, but you’re still left with a fun-filled platformer loaded with content."

1UP - B+ - "I've really enjoyed Super Mario 3D Land, from the clever new twists on the familiar to the knuckle-biting intensity of the final stages, but I feel something's missing. The game never quite reaches the heights of Super Mario Galaxy or New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Maybe it's the fact that the game's name calls back to the Super Mario Land series, which increasingly pushed the limits of what a Mario game could be. By comparison to both those games and this team's own work on Galaxy, 3D Land feels conservative and safe. Within those tightly prescribed limitations, it's wonderful. But as I played through Super Mario 3D Land, I couldn't help but stand on those familiar, candy-colored grasslands with my 100-plus stock of extra lives and wonder how much more exciting Mario's adventure would be if he'd been allowed to slip free of the boundaries of the old days."

IGN - 9.5/10 - "As a whole, 3D Land is brilliant and addictive, and should do for 3D-enhanced platforming what the original Super Mario Bros. did for 2D platforming. If you own a 3DS system, you have no choice - you simply must own this game."

Game Informer - 9.5/10 - "Super Mario 3D Land isn’t perfect, but the few complaints I have (like the lack of variety in boss fights and some re-hashed levels) can’t bring down this entertaining mix of nostalgia and innovation. ?It lives up to the level of quality set by previous entries and is easily the best reason to own a 3DS."

Joystiq - 4.5/5 - "And while it takes a while to build up, and lacks the rich variety of secrets you know from games like Mario 3 and Super Mario World, Super Mario 3D Land eventually becomes a demandingly hardcore, addictive platformer. It's also easily the most beautiful game on the 3DS, and one of the best-looking Mario games."
