The 3DS isn't selling very well? PlayStation Vita is likely to be dropping at the end of the year? Well, Nintendo have already begun their counter-attack by announcing a price cut for the 3D handheld.
Starting from the 12th of August the 3DS will be selling for a whole lot cheaper than it currently is. The US price is being slashed from $249 USD down to $169 USD, in Australia it will drop from $349 AUD down to $249 AUD, and in Japan it will drop from 25,000 yen down to 11,000 yen. Europe will also be getting a price cut, but no official figures have been confirmed (reps are saying the price will drop by roughly a third).
The question still remains as to whether this will make much of a difference in the long run with very little software to use on the device before the year's end. At the very least it should definitely see a few more units shift from retailers into homes.

Holy f***ing s***. Can't say I was expecting that. I thought that if they ever did cut the price it would have been to $225 or at most $200.
