Video Game Vault: Diddy Kong Racing
In the latest installment of ScrewAttack’s Video Game Vault, they look at the Nintendo 64 classic, “Diddy Kong Racing.” While this title might not give you as wide of a variety and challenge as Mario Kart 64, it is still a great game. If you have not played DKR, watch and find out why you should. If only this game would come out on the Virtual Console.

Survey Points to Possibility of Epic Mickey 2
Destructoid had an anonymous reader send them over a tip that we found very intriguing. It seems there is a survey going around with the goal of gauging interest in a possible sequel to Epic Mickey.
Of course, there is no official word just yet regarding a second game from Disney and Junction Point, but we would welcome it. While the survey mentions Wii, PS3, and 360, if they brought it to the upcoming Wii U, it would allow many fans to see what they wanted the entire time — Mickey in high quality HD.
Game features listed in the survey include:
2-Player split-screen cooperative play.Mickey keeps similar mechanics with paint and thinner.Oswald can fly and control electricity (sounds more powerful than Mickey). There presented four possible titles for the game:
Epic Mickey 2Epic Mickey 2: Return of the Mad DoctorEpic Mickey 2: The Power of TwoEpic Mickey 2: Mystery on Mean StreetWould you be interested in a sequel? Let us know in the comments.

Just Dance Kids 2 shakes it all about this October
This October, Ubisoft will release Hokey Pokey: The Game for Kinect, PlayStation Move and Wii. Well, officially it'll be called Just Dance Kids 2, but make no mistake: this is an interactive Hokey Pokey simulation, in which motion sensing technology will judge whether you've properly internalized what it's all about.
To pad out the high-tech Hokey Pokey, Ubisoft also including Kidz Bop-style covers of pop hits like "Love Me," "Whip My Hair," "Just The Way You Are," TV and movie songs, and other children's standards. The announcement makes a point to mention the inclusion of "the YouTube hit song, 'I Am A Gummy Bear (The Gummy Bear Song).'" We'd never heard of it, but now we have, and we're sorry to be the ones to do this to you.
And on the subject of inflicting things on you, how about that Comic Sans UI? How about those South Park fruit icons?
UBISOFT® TO RELEASE JUST DANCE® KIDS 2 IN NORTH AMERICA IN OCTOBER
The #1 Dance Game for Kids and Families is Back; Now Available on All Motion Platforms
SAN FRANCISCO – August 22, 2011 – Today, Ubisoft® announced that Just Dance® Kids 2 will be available for the first time for Kinect™ for Xbox 360® and the PlayStation®Move for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and will return to the Wii™ system from Nintendo. Developed by Land Ho!, Just Dance Kids 2 will feature more than 40 new songs, including today's hottest hits, such as "Love Me," "Whip My Hair," "Just The Way You Are," and popular songs from kids' favorite TV shows and movies. In addition, the game includes mixes of classic kids songs like "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and "The Hokey Pokey" in several languages. Just Dance Kids 2 also contains all-new features exclusive to each platform and will be released in North America on October 25, 2011.
"Just Dance Kids 2 provides families and kids of all ages with exciting new features building upon those elements that first made the game a success," said Tony Key, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Ubisoft North America. "For the first time, Just Dance Kids 2 will be available on all three motion control platforms, making it a must-have family title. The game will get kids active and moving while bringing the entire family together, laughing and dancing in their living rooms."
Created with kids and families in mind, the game boasts colorful and lively graphics, super fun dance moves and easy-to-follow kid-friendly gameplay. The choreography will have players dancing to covers of such hits as "Burnin' Up," "Barbara Ann," "Shake Your Groove Thing," and the YouTube hit song, "I Am A Gummy Bear (The Gummy Bear Song)."
Just Dance Kids 2 takes full advantage of each motion control platform, providing each with a unique feature and experience for the player. The Kinect for Xbox 360 version of Just Dance Kids 2 will allow kids to play without using a controller, star in their own music videos, and create and save their own dance routines to challenge friends and family members. With the PlayStation Move, kids have the ability to capture their cool dance moves with the PlayStation®Eye, which snaps photos of players while dancing. In addition, kids can select their favorite song medleys. The Wii version of Just Dance Kids 2 features a brand-new multiplayer mode called Balloon Pop, which lets kids shake their Wii Remote™ controllers to earn more points and have more fun while dancing. All three platforms feature a brand-new game feature called Nonstop Shuffle, where players can play the game for designated periods of time of 15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes without having to push any buttons or navigate through menus for non-stop play.

While it'll be cheaper to produce, do you really think the GameCube hardware in the Wii really contributed that much to the cost?

GameStop also cited lower hardware sales and fewer games this quarter compared to last year, both of which the company said contributed to an overall lower quarter for store sales, down 9.1%. The retailer also reported diminished net sales of $30.9 million compared to $40.3 million in 2010.

[PC, PS3, X360] Valve announces Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, coming early 2012
Activision is releasing Modern Warfare 3 and DICE is releasing Battlefield 3, but if you want another FPS option then Valve might be the ones to deliver what you are seeking. It appears that they are hard at work with Hidden Path Entertainment to bring the world a brand new Counter-Strike title.
The new release promises to bring leader-boards, match-making, new gameplay modes and more when it becomes available during the current target release period, which is early 2012. The game is said to be targeting PC and the two home consoles (maybe having a shot at Call of Duty. It will also feature new maps, new weapons, new characters and will deliver updated CS content (such as de_dust, etc). Here's what Valve's Doug Lombardi has to say:
"Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999. For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac."
The world will get its first glimpse of CS:GO when it debuts at PAX Prime and the Eurogamer Expo later this year. Guns at the ready, we have another big third entry in the FPS genre on the way. You can check out the Steam store page here but there is no new information yet. So, do you think it will be free-to-play like Team Fortress 2 is and like DOTA is rumoured to be?

[GC'11, PSP] New Value PSP Model Announced
A new PSP model was revealed at Gamescom, this one aimed squarely at those light of wallet. The PSP E-1000 isn't about adding new features, but rather about removing them. This €99.99 model will have a fresh design with a new "Charcoal Black" matte finish (same as the PS3 slim model), but will not include Wi-Fi. That's right, while buyers will get full access to the consoles UMD library, the only way to access the PlayStation Store is through Sony's Media Go software. The PSP E-1000 is expected to launch in Europe sometime this fall. No word yet on release in other territories.
Sony also announced that a number of €9.99 PSP Essentials titles will be released at the same time, including Invizimals: The Lost Tribes, EyePet Adventures, and FIFA 12.

Sorry, I could not read the content fromt this page.[GC'11, Vita] Silent Hill: Book of Memories gameplay, but beware of Silent Hill fans
So, Konami have posted a brief video touching on some of the key points in Silent Hill: Book of Memories as well as showing some gameplay in action. I'm not sure what sort of reaction they were hoping for but they are certainly getting the exact opposite of that. The YouTube video is currently sporting 35 likes and 790 dislikes. Regardless of that, if you are still interested then hit the play button below.
As you can see, the top-down gameplay that was talked about earlier is in full action, you can even spot some of the role-playing elements. But, as a fan of Silent Hill, I'm struggling to see how this game will even come close to emulating the atmosphere of the franchise. You'll create your own character and set about to rewrite your memories (and learn about the consequences). You'll find yourself fighting against the franchise's most popular enemies, including the now done-to-death Pyramid Head (to think, he was once a creature you would fear).
I want to believe, Konami. But recently you've given me very little reason to do so. Silent Hill: Book of Memories is coming exclusively to the PlayStation Vita with no date set. You'll be able to pick up Silent Hill: Downpour this November and the Silent Hill HD Collection in early 2012.
