REVIEW – Art of Balance Touch!

A review by Jeremy Hardin

Art of Balance Touch! is a port/sequel to 2010's popular WiiWare puzzle game Art of Balance.  Art of Balance Touch! takes everything the original did right – which is the entire game – and then doubles it, bringing more levels challenges and even an endurance mode to keep you entertained and on your toes.

Gameplay and Controls
Art of Balance Touch! is a physics based balance/puzzle game and your goal is to stack and balance a set of blocks for 3 seconds.  Sound easy, right? Sure, it’s easy at first but as you progress through the worlds, you will find challenges aplenty.  The real challenge is thinking of how to get your blocks to balance on whatever base you have.  You may have a single flat base, or two upside down triangles, or a curved base.  The combinations will vary greatly.  In the beginning you will start out with simple shaped blocks, such as a cross, or a rectangle, or a triangle.  However, you will soon find yourself having to work with timed blocks, which shatter a few seconds after another block is placed on top of it.  There are also pressure blocks which allow up to 2 other block to touch them.  Once a third block is placed on it, the pressure block will shatter.  Something new to the series are gravity blocks.  As if you weren’t already having to plan your moves carefully, the gravity blocks will without a doubt throw a wrench in the works.  In levels which use the gravity blocks, you will have a top and bottom base.  Each time you place said block, the gravity will reverse.  So, what was the top now becomes the bottom and vice-versa.  You can imagine having to work with multiple gravity blocks and still trying to maintain balance.

Arcade mode is the bulk of the game with 8 worlds and 200 levels.  Initially, only the first of eight worlds is unlocked.  In order to unlock another world, you must obtain at least the minimum number of rings, awarded to you upon completion of a level.  There are 3 different types of levels in each world; basic, bonus and end.  Upon completion, the basic will award you with one ring, bonus with two rings and the end stage with three rings.  Once you obtain a set amount of rings, the next world opens and so on.  Usually the bonus levels consist of you not only balancing your stack, but having to reach a preset height as well.

Endurance Mode presents you with a series of random levels which challenge you to beat the local hi-score records.  You accomplish this by completing as many levels as possible, as quickly as possible with no more than 3 retries throughout your entire run.  Your score is based upon a difficulty multiplier, life bonus and time bonus.  It’s a great addition to an already robust game, however, an online leader-board is sorely lacking.  There is also an Awards section which is your basic Achievements list.  Unfortunately, there are only 13 achievements listed.  It seems as though this was just tacked on in the end but I see the potential for so much more.  Perhaps Shin’en will release a patch which will add new awards (hint!  hint!)

The controls are simple and very easy to use.  You have a choice of using either your stylus to drag and drop your blocks, or use the circle pad to move the onscreen cursor.  You can and will rotate block using the shoulder buttons and that’s about all there are to the controls – simple and easy to use.

Visuals and Sound
The visuals are pretty decent looking and the 3D effect looks quite nice.  You have the option of choosing between two different cameras, both of which alter the depth and zoom of the top screen.  I believe in the WiiWare version the water would splash on the screen when your stack tumbled.  While not anything to gripe about, it is noticeably absent from this version.  Each level is very basic looking.  You have a small dish filled with water and a base object protruding above the water.  Since each world is themed, the levels themselves carry the theme over in the backgrounds and the blocks themselves.  While fairly simple looking, the themes are unique and do a good job of adding some visual flair as you stare at the screen and ponder your next move.  The sound is good, fairly simple and relaxing.  While the soundtrack is repetitive, it’s pleasant enough to never be offensive to your ears.

Concluding Overall ImpressionsShin’en has done a great job of not just porting over a classic WiiWare game, but of also making it worth the $7 price tag – with 8 worlds, 200 levels, some really good physics and an endurance mode to boot – so do yourself a favor and download it today!

[Image: game-news-image-2012-1aeb600c626c070ffb4...13e910.jpg]
Sad news today, folks. Although the GAME stores scrapped through in the UK reaching some form of safety, the same cannot be said for the Australian branch sadly.

A large number of stores had already closed down but now it appears that the final Australian stores will be joining their brethren in closure.

“In the interests of creditors, the 31 remaining Game stores are to be closed over the coming weeks and a final closing down sale has commenced with discounts of up to 60 percent available in-store and online,” administrator Kate Warwick said in a statement provided to Gamespot.

“This is a difficult time for employees and closing the stores was not a decision we made easily. Despite exploring available opportunities for continued trading, the ongoing trading performance and absence of viable offers for the purchase of the business has resulted in these closures.”

It is a sad day, I hope you'll join us in sending our thoughts and best wishes to everyone out there who has been affected by the closures.

[Wii] Nearly 11 minutes of Dragon Quest X footage

[Wii] Nearly 11 minutes of Dragon Quest X footage
After the Japanese Nintendo Direct stream wrapped up a lengthy presentation concerning Dragon Quest X was shown. It seems like Square Enix are going out of their way to please as many fans as possible and are offering Dragon Quest IX-based character customisation, social spots such as customisable houses, and plenty of fields filled with very familiar monsters.

This is likely to be the Wii's swan song in Japan and is slated to be released on August 2. It will also include two hours of "kids time" free play each day as well, which is a nice addition.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier maintains top UK sales spot

by Writer RSS on Jun 6th 2012 10:45AM

Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Rockstar's Max Payne 3 remained bosom buddies atop Chart-Track's UK sales chart for another week. The team of Ghost Recon kept their advantages position on the high ground for a second week, with Payne providing back-up in second.

Capcom's love or hate RPG Dragon's Dogma slipped one spot into fourth, with FIFA 12 running up the field from fifth into third.

Nihilistic's Resistance: Burning Skies for Vita debuted at the 12 spot. Chart-Track notes the previous handheld Resistance title was Resistance: Retribution for PSP, which failed to crack the top 40. The UK top ten invade after the break.

Everyone who has played Street Fighter, especially at a high level, will know who Seth Killian is. He has played a large part over at Capcom with the Street Fighter community but has now announced that June 22 will be his last day of work with the studio.

"I have chosen a new path which will let me embrace a new dream, but to everyone that ever believed in this dream we shared together, let me say this final thanks. I will leave as I began--a Capcom fan for life, looking forward to all the great games still to come."

You can check out the full letter over here, I'm sure he'll be sorely missed by many fighting game fans.

Here's what you get in Kirby: 20th Anniversary Special Collection

by Writer RSS on Jun 17th 2012 1:30PM

Nintendo has been pretty quiet about that anniversary collection of Kirby games for the Wii ever since it was announced way back in April, but now the full list of games included in the collection, as well as the collection's Japanese title, have been released by Famitsu and translated into English by Andriasang.

Kirby: 20th Anniversary Special Collection will include Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. The collection also includes a timeline and soundtrack, and will launch in Japan on July 19, according to Andriasang. Alas, no North American release information has surfaced as of yet.

[Wii U] Black and White Wii U SKU's listed at Best Buy

Black and White Wii U's have popped up in a retail listing over at Best Buy, which is far from confirmation but Best Buy is joining a number of retailers listing both colour options.

It wouldn't surprise anyone if Nintendo released two colour options at launch, they did so with the 3DS and they were showcasing the Black variation of the Wii U at E3. Having said that, they showcased a whole range of colours of their hardware prior to launch previously.

Would you like to see a dual colour launch? Or are you not fussed with the colour of your Wii U?

Madden 13 aims to be the 'first true sports RPG'

by Writer RSS on Jun 5th 2012 6:00PM

Madden 13 aims to be the 'first true sports RPG'

After Electronic Arts held its E3 2012 press conference Monday, the Madden NFL 13 team streamed the latest in its series of "playbook" videos detailing the game's Connected Careers mode. The mode is new to the series, but was described by Senior Designer Josh Looman as a combination of the familiar superstar and franchise modes of the past.

"Franchise mode is dead. Online franchise mode is dead. Superstar mode is dead," Looman explained. "It's really the first true sports RPG."

In Connected Careers, players will have the option of controlling individual football players or coaches, the latter being more akin to the standard "call all the plays, use all the players" game of Madden. The mode can be played alone or in a league of 32 players, clearing away any distinctions between online and offline franchise modes we've been accustomed to.

Connected Careers' role-playing elements boil down to goal-based gameplay and "level-up-style" player progression. Looman explained that players can achieve weekly, season, and career milestone goals, such as rushing for over 1,000 yards in a season with a running back. By reaching these goals, players will earn experience points, which can be used to purchase skill and ability upgrades. At any point in their career, players can retire their superstar athletes and coaches in order to start up new players for their teams without disrupting an ongoing season of play against friends.

Connected Careers will also feature what Looman described as a "robust news system that captures everything that happens in your league." Madden 13 will populate stories surrounding players and display information in the form of news posts and a virtual Twitter stream, which uses the names and faces of 13 NFL analysts like Skip Bayless and Mark Schlereth. The media personalities will react to trades, injuries, and highlights from a player's career in the news and faux-Twitter system.

Looman posted finer details on the game's Connected Careers mode in a developer blog. Players will get to try it for themselves when Madden NFL 13 hits the turf on August 28.

[DS] Review Roundup - Pokémon Conquest

[DS] Review Roundup - Pokémon Conquest
[Image: game-news-image-2012-4a538fa1ea1a530b521...f232f9.jpg]Destructoid - 8/10 - "Pokemon Conquest could have been a cheap tie-in with a terrible gimmick, but instead it's managed to be a fun and rewarding little strategy game with its heart in the right place. It's not going to tax your mind and it's not going to provide anything too complex, but it will more than like suck up hours of your time while you gladly let it, because it's just too satisfying to grab as many Pokemon as possible and see what they can do. As far as Pokemon spin-off games go, this is definitely one of the best offerings on the market, and is worth picking up by any fan of the series."

IGN - 9/10 - "Pokémon fans should not hesitate to give Conquest a try. It offers a new and different way to enjoy the Pokémon universe, and is well worth your time and money. The same goes for strategy fans, or those looking to get into the genre. For all these reasons, and for the game’s creative and apt execution, I walked away from the experience thoroughly impressed and amazed. It easily stands alongside the similarly well-executed (and unexpectedly splendid) likes of Pokémon Snap as one of the greatest, most fully realized Pokémon spinoffs in existence."

GamesRadar - 8/10 - "However, all the extra touches and rules gave much more to Pokémon Conquest than it took away. If you were concerned that a strategy game starring Pokémon would be simplified for a wider audience, let go of your worries. PC retains the addictive qualities of battling and team-building we love in tactics titles while fully embracing everything strange about niche Japanese titles like this one. By coming at it from a different angle, Conquest finds its own special spot in the world of SRPGs."

EGM - 8/10 - "Though the Pokémon label might be slightly disingenuous, Conquest does offer a novel, enjoyable take on the strategy genre—and the Pokémon brand also gives the traditionally hardcore strategy genre a modicum of accessibility to a wider audience. If the wider Pokémon fanbase can look past a few curious decisions in regards to this odd franchise marriage, they’ll find a strong strategy title that should provide some severe addiction in its own right."

Game Informer - 7/10 - "Pokémon Conquest takes the Pokémon you know and recognize (and love?) and places them into the world of tactical turn-based strategy with little kicking and screaming. Unfortunately, its simplicity will turn away tactical purists, and its complexity and management demands will turn off fans of the traditional Pokémon RPG."

[PC, PS3, X360] 'Enter the Dominatrix' DLC becoming a new Saints Row game

[PC, PS3, X360] 'Enter the Dominatrix' DLC becoming a new Saints Row game
[Image: game-news-image-2012-a418185e0a61faa5b00...97b2e6.jpg]
Remember that forty weeks of DLC promised for Saints Row: The Third? Well, the next instalment of that DLC strategy, Enter the Dominatrix, has been scrapped in favour of an all-new retail release in 2013.

""When I looked at the Enter The Dominatrix expansion in production at Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise," Jason Rubin stated. "I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed we wanted to play that game.

"When it comes to Saints Row, it's clear our fans want bigger, better, and even more over the top, and that's why Enter The Dominatrix will now be incorporated into a vastly expanded, full-fledged sequel, scheduled for calendar 2013."

The only question is: will this new Saints Row be the victim of a new 'forty weeks of DLC' strategy? Stay tuned for more on this new announcement.

[X360] Ryse is Still More than a Year Away

[X360] Ryse is Still More than a Year Away
[Image: game-news-image-2012-36277fa0d4078e45adf...64f62d.jpg]
Conspicuously absent from Microsoft's E3 presentation this year was Crytek's Ryse, an Xbox 360 exclusive previously deemed to perhaps be Kinect's greatest hope for capturing the 'hardcore' audience. After some rumors of the game's demise, corporate VP of Microsoft Studios Phil Spencer dispelled any such notion in an interview with The Verge, but we won't be playing it anytime soon.

"We're still building Ryse," he said. "We're focused on games coming in the next twelve months, something I say every year, and it's not something we'll be shipping in the next twelve months."

Other rumors have suggested that the game's development has jumped to the next-generation Xbox console, but Spencer also seemed to indicate that this is not the case.

"Yes I can play it on my 360. Actually, the last review I had with the team was probably four weeks ago and there are some very cool things the team is working on."

Ryse, a Kinect-based hack-and-slasher, was first revealed at Microsoft's E3 presentation in 2010 under the title Codename: Kingdoms. It looks like it will be at least late 2013 before we'll get our hands on this one.

[PS3, X360] Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance poised to get post launch DLC

[PS3, X360] Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance poised to get post launch DLC
[Image: game-news-image-2012-5faf57b4fc3b016eaa9...486a4f.jpg]
It looks like Platinum Games' Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance's will be receiving some post launch DLC according to a filmed roundtable with producer Yuji Kurekado from this year's E3.

“We do have plans for some download content after the release from the game that will allow you to play maybe as a different character or some new missions.

Sounds good, but unfortunately the news came hot on the heels of confirmation that we won’t be taking Raiden’s sword into head-to-head battles with other players.

We don’t have any plans for competitive online play or anything like that."

No further details were provided, so from here I suppose it is time to start the fan speculation. Personally, I'll be happy to play as Gray Fox in a Metal Gear Rex fight, but that could be a dream. Originally, the nugget managed to sneak under the radar but was bought to everyone's attention by Gamerzines.

[Wii U, Wii, 3DS, DS] Nintendo now co-owns the Fatal Frame IP

[Wii U, Wii, 3DS, DS] Nintendo now co-owns the Fatal Frame IP
[Image: game-news-image-2012-a2400c812121a58042e...a9897.jpeg]
After publishing Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse on the Wii exclusively in Japan, Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir for the 3DS and now bringing Fatal Frame 2: Deep Crimson Butterfly to Wii's everywhere it seems that Nintendo has managed to score a stake in the Fatal Frame IP.

A post on Rely on Horror Nintendo updated their copyright status on the IP. They now own the Spirit Camera IP and co-own the Fatal Frame / Project Zero IP, which severely reduces the odds of the games seeing a release on other platforms.

I'd be surprised if this didn't lead to an obvious Wii U / Camera Obscura Fatal Frame title and honestly if it does, sign me up! Fatal Frame is one of the last surviving survival horror franchises that is true to its name, unlike Resident Evil which has ditched the format and Silent Hill who has left Japan and is stumbling drunkenly around the world. So honestly, this could be a big win for Nintendo. Check out the trailer for Fatal Frame 2's upcoming Wii release below.

WWE '13 is your big chance to wrestle like a professional boxer
Mike Tyson is known for his years as a professional boxer slash professional ear-biter, so you can imagine our surprise when THQ announced this morning that he's appearing in upcoming wrestler WWE '13. Tyson's reprising his role from 1998 as a "ringside enforcer" for D-Generation X. He's also a playable character, though, ya know, he's totally not a wrestler.

"The baddest man on the planet is back – and only in WWE '13," Tyson said in the press release, totally of his own volition and not written by someone else. "Fans everywhere can now relive what I experienced during the 'Attitude Era.'"

Only pre-orders of WWE '13 get access to Tyson as a playable character. The game launches on October 30 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii.

Nintendo Direct returns tonight at midnight

by Writer RSS on Jun 21st 2012 10:00AM

Nintendo Direct returns tonight at midnightIt's two weeks after E3, so naturally Nintendo has more announcements to make (just as it did two days before E3). As has become the company's custom, it'll host a "Nintendo Direct" video, streaming from Nintendo's site, tonight at 12am EST.

According to a brief blurb from Nintendo, the video will be "about Nintendo 3DS, Wii and Nintendo DS products," so don't expect to hear any surprises about the Wii U. Do expect to see a different room in Nintendo's Kyoto headquarters.

[PS3] Okami HD first trailer offers a glimpse at its beauty

[PS3] Okami HD first trailer offers a glimpse at its beauty
You may have recalled reading about a high definition version of Okami being in the works (it was only an hour ago, geez). Well, now SCEA has released the first official trailer and damn does it look stunning. You can find it below, but prepare your eyes for some nice looking candy.
My only hope is that it includes standard Dualshock controls, but I'll assume this is based on the Wii one and therefore won't.

Okami HD is due this Fall in Japan, America and Europe.

RE: [PS3] Okami HD first trailer offers a glimpse at its beauty
At 2:30 in the trailer they mention you can use a controller or the Move so we're good for Dual Shock support.

The thing that gets me is that I can't help but feel like they're exaggerating the difference between the PS3 and PS2 versions. I don't remember the PS2/Wii versions looking nearly that blurry.

Bomb Monkey Blasts onto Nintendo eShop

Austin, Texas – June 21, 2012 – Today, Renegade Kid announced that Bomb Monkey, the explosive puzzle game, will be available on June 28, 2012 for $4.99 USD through the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS™.

Blok Bombing is a fine and ancient sport invented by a small and creative troop of primates, called Bomb Monkeys. The goal is simple: do not allow the bloks rising from the jungle floor to reach dangerous heights and knock you from your perch.

With an endless supply of bloks and a steady stream of bombs, you can partake in this legendary sport anytime you have a spare moment. Young Bomb Monkeys will learn patience and strategy. Older Bomb Monkeys will sharpen their wits. And, every Bomb Monkey will have a blast!

“We’re thrilled to be releasing our second title on the Nintendo eShop,” said Jools Watsham, Owner and Director at Renegade Kid. “A special feature of Bomb Monkey that I am particularly excited about is the two player mode, which can be enjoyed with just one Nintendo 3DS!”

[PC] Review Roundup - Civilization V: Gods & Kings

[PC] Review Roundup - Civilization V: Gods & Kings
[Image: game-news-image-2012-dc505c2f17e899ef175...7a5aee.jpg]Eurogamer - 7/10 - "For Civ 5 owners, the most important strategic decision in Gods & Kings is whether to buy it or not. At £20, it's not unreasonably priced, especially since it does succeed at making the game feel fresh again, meaning you're going to get hooked again, meaning that for £20 you're getting dozens and dozens of hours of play. On the first day I installed it, my three meals were toast, a sandwich in the afternoon and a sandwich at midnight. There's your capsule review. On the other hand, once you know the reworked espionage, diplomacy and AI all disappoint, Gods & Kings' feature list starts to look a lot thinner. In a series that's always had a certain pride to it, what you're paying for here, really, is a renewed addiction and precious little else. That's a bit of a shame for Civilization and civilisation alike."

VideoGamer - 8/10 - "Civilization V: Gods & Kings doesn't tear down and rebuild Civilization V, but instead acts as a gentle overhaul that rounds out and deepens many of the game's core systems. Gods & Kings won't be enough to silence the non-believers, but this expansion will certainly rekindle the attention of those faithful to Civilization V's streamlined focus."

GamesRadar - 8/10 - "The rippling effects of the Espionage system, Religion’s modifications to the early and mid-game, and the abundance of changes and other bits of new content more than justify the price of the expansion. While it might feel a little lackluster in the short term, the amount of variation it will add to the hundreds of more hours we plan on putting into Civilization V will undoubtedly prove worthwhile."

Game Informer - 8.5/10 - "My enthusiasm for Civ V has continued unabated for a full year now, and this expansion adds new fuel to the fires of conquest that still burn in me. Despite the days of playtime I’ve put into the base game, I can’t imagine going back after a few rounds with Gods & Kings. I strongly recommend this expansion to all Civ V players – though you may need to jump a difficulty level to account for how powerful the new toys are."

Giant Bomb - 4/5 - "Given how much time and piecemeal DLC has passed since Civilization V first hit store shelves, Gods & Kings suffers only by virtue of not being overwhelming in its revamping of the Civ V formula. And yet, neither is it underwhelming, given that the things it does add are all distinct improvements, and some are even pretty fantastic. This is a useful and enjoyable expansion to a game that's still one of the great time-stealers of this generation. To put it succinctly: it is more Civilization V to add to your copy of Civilization V. If you still have even a flicker of a desire to play more Civilzation V, that news should be all you need to justify picking up Gods & Kings."

[PC] Rumour: Final Fantasy VII making its way to PC again

[PC] Rumour: Final Fantasy VII making its way to PC again
[Image: game-news-image-2012-1c990b32c341121a608...6c394c.jpg]
A leaked Steam description has hinted at Final Fantasy VII making its way to Valve's digital distribution platform. According to the leak it will include a host a new set of features including Steam achievements (36 in total apparently), cloud saving, and online profiles to compare game progress with friends.

Apparently there will also be a new Character Booster Item that will max your HP, MP and Gil when you "find yourself stuck on a difficult section or lacking the funds to buy that vital Phoenix Down". This should be helpful for those players who find themselves struggling with a few of the more unforgiving battle's you'll face as you progress.

The new information appeared briefly on FinalFantasyVIIPC.com, a domain that was registered by Square Enix on June 15. The domain was spotted by the keen eyes over on the GOG forum.

The price seems to be pegged at around £7.99/€9.99 (or roughly $15) which seems like a fair price for a classic game. We are left wondering if Final Fantasy VIII will get the same treatment.

[Image: game-news-image-2012-c8ec57698d40065b45e...fe775f.jpg]
Bethesda announced just prior to E3 that it would be releasing a remastered version of Doom 3 for PC and consoles, called the BFG Edition, and today we got a better idea of what to expect and when to expect it.

Doom 3 BFG Edition will be released on October 16th of this year in North America and three days later in Europe. Not only will players get a remastered Doom 3 with improved HD graphics and sound, but also the Resurrection of Evil expansion pack (also remastered), new content called "The Lost Mission", and Achievement/Trophy support. Bethesda is also throwing in the original Doom and Doom II games for good measure. And yes, there is a new armor-mounted flashlight to rid players of the annoying flashlight mechanic.

The package will cost $29.99/£19.99 on PC and $39.99/£29.99 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

[PS3] Journey, Flower and Flow to receive an on-disc bundle

[PS3] Journey, Flower and Flow to receive an on-disc bundle

Thatgamecompany has given the PlayStation audience some pretty amazing experiences, and now it seems like there's a chance they could be heading to retail as an on-disc bundle.

So far, thatgamecompany has confirmed that the Journey Collector's Edition (SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY) is a thing, but they also confirmed they couldn't talk any further about it instead teasing that it will "be awesome." It sounds like both Flower and Flow could be included with their most recent hit, Journey, in this bundle.

Both GameFly and PlayAsia posted listings for the product, I'm heavily anticipating to hear what else they might throw in for the bundle.

NintendoWare Weekly: Double Dragon 2, Order Up

by Writer RSS on Jun 21st 2012 12:00PM

NintendoWare Weekly Double Dragon 2, Order UpThe NES classic Double Dragon 2 unexpectedly shows up on Wii today, in an otherwise portable-heavy week. Today's 3DS releases include the popular Order Up!!, and a series of "Slitherlink" math puzzles.

Normally, we don't give too much attention to the kids' stuff on DSiWare, but we feel compelled to share this. There is a game called Lola's Fruit Shop Sudoku, and it is a sudoku game designed for four-year-olds. You line up pictures of fruit instead of numbers. This is incredible.

WiiWare Save the Furries (SDP Games, 1 player, 1000 Wii Points): You're saving actual little fuzzy creatures by moving objects to create safe paths. Not people dressed as fuzzy creatures.Wii Virtual Console Double Dragon 2 (Aksys Games, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points): Billy and Jimmy Lee fight to defeat the Shadow Warriors, mostly through repeated use of that one knee kick.3DS eShop Order Up!! (SuperVillain Studios, 1 player, $9.99): Originally designed as a retail cart, the 3DS version of the cooking/restaurant management game comes to eShop.Slitherlink by Nikoli (Hamster Corporation, 1-4 players, $4.99) Draw lines to make a picture, based on numbers on the screen. It's kind of sudoku, kind of picross, and I kind of don't know what's going on.DSiWare Jewel Legends - Tree of Life (cerasus.media, 1 player, $4.99/500 DSi Points): Match three to rebuild the world of the "Hods." Won't someone think of the hods? Lola's Fruit Shop Sudoku (BeiZ, 1 player, $1.99/200 DSi Points): A cute sudoku game for kids. " "Lola's Fruit Shop Sudoku game is playable even by 4-year old children, yet still challenging enough for 8-9-year-old kids. How is that possible?"

[PS3] PlayStation Store taken down in Korea in order to comply with a new law

[PS3] PlayStation Store taken down in Korea in order to comply with a new law
[Image: game-news-image-2012-cf51329414e8067001d...18070f.jpg]
Recently a new law, the "Game Industry Promotion Act", was passed and goes into affect from July 1 in South Korea. This new act makes it illegal for any online service to request the real name or age of any account held by someone under the age of 18.

In order to comply with this new law Sony will be forced to take down the PlayStation Store. Sony remains hopeful that they'll be able to resume PSN service in the country sometime later this year. Online multiplayer will be offered through the PSN still, and the store will still be accessible through PSP's and Vita's.

The decision was made suddenly considering that the same day they had announced a sale on 2K Games software throughout the service.
