[Wii U] Black and White Wii U SKU's listed at Best Buy

[Wii U] Black and White Wii U SKU's listed at Best Buy
[Image: game-news-image-2012-ddbaad386697d7985f3...501a97.png]
Black and White Wii U's have popped up in a retail listing over at Best Buy, which is far from confirmation but Best Buy is joining a number of retailers listing both colour options.

It wouldn't surprise anyone if Nintendo released two colour options at launch, they did so with the 3DS and they were showcasing the Black variation of the Wii U at E3. Having said that, they showcased a whole range of colours of their hardware prior to launch previously.

Would you like to see a dual colour launch? Or are you not fussed with the colour of your Wii U?

New Michael Jackson Costume White Silver Glitter Glove

New Michael Jackson Costume White Silver Glitter GloveThe popular convention of Michael Jackson's iconic Glitter Glove is right handed, but did you know that the "Billie Jean" performance at "Motown 25" in 1983 clearly shows a left handed glove? This proto-type featured rows of rhinestones only on the back of a somewhat yellow leather looking glove. Once perfected and popularized, the glove was indeed right handed and the sewn on swarovski crystal technique was perfected for a more brilliant result.

[DS] Pokémon Black & White sales data is super effective against previous US records

[DS] Pokémon Black & White sales data is super effective against previous US records [Image: game-news-image-2011-b2b02d7c5ad73391a2d...c8ec2f.jpg]It seems to be becoming a trend now, out comes a new Pokémon title and suddenly records are broken. The previous record was held by Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, which managed to sell 780,000 copies on their first day of sale way back in 2007.

Well, now we can usher in a new record holder, Pokémon Black & White have taken that respectable figure and surpassed it. By how much I hear you ask? Well, Black & White managed to push out 1.08 million copies after being available for 24 hour period in America. Pretty astounding figures and concrete proof that the Pokémon franchise still has plenty of consumer pull.

For those who haven't looked into the new entries, they introduce 150 new critters for you to capture and they are set in an all new region (which seems a lot larger compared to the usual ones) with eight new gym leaders to battle and conquer. Plenty of time to sink in the new entries, and it is time well spent as well.

[DS] Pokemon White – Review Round-Up

YouTube Preview Image

The Escapist – 100
With slick and fast-paced battles, a more adult take on the traditional Pokémon concepts and an entirely new roster of characters, Pokémon Black & White is as close to a “reboot” as the franchise has ever seen, but it doesn’t reinvent what doesn’t need reinventing.

Destructoid – 95
Pokémon Black/White is my favorite Pokémon game. That’s my opinion. It’s also the most robust, fully featured, polished Pokémon game on a technical level. That’s an objective fact. Put those opinons and facts together, and you can only come up with one conclusion — if you like Pokémon, you should go buy Pokémon Black/White. Like, right now.

Official Nintendo Magazine UK – 95
A beautiful refinement of a great series. Game Freak has surpassed itself – the best Pokemon ever. [Mar 2011, p.87]

Digital Chumps – 90
Pokémon Black & White are again the strongest additions to the series to date. Game Freak has succeeded once again in creating an even better Pokémon title than all previous iterations and has created another true Pokémon reboot.

Cubed3 – 90
Game Freak has worked its socks off to ensure that Pokémon Black / White not only live up to the standards set by past entries in the mainline series, but have included a wealth of extra content to entice newcomers to the world of Pocket Monsters.

Nintendo Life – 90
Black and White are certainly up there with the best of the series: unlike HeartGold and SoulSilver they don’t have nostalgia as their main attraction, but they come closest to recreating the sense of discovery felt when embarking on that first journey with Pokémon.

Games Radar (in-house) – 90
It may not break the Pokemon mold, but Black/White offers enough new content coupled with the series’ classic, deep battle mechanics to make it endlessly playable. If you could only play one game for the rest of your life, this would be a wise choice.

IGN – 90
If you have never played Pokemon, get off your ass and get Pokemon Black/White. Aside from a weaker lineup of monsters (largely an aesthetic complaint), this is the best Pokemon has to offer on every level, renewing my waning interest in monster battling. It proves that the Pokemon series is still rock solid after a decade and a half.

Eurogamer – 90
Of course there’s a lot that’s the same. Of course there is. But with a great many small and well-placed innovations, a vivacious, inventive new cast and the biggest cosmetic makeover the series has ever seen, Pokémon Black and White makes it all feel new again. It reminds you what there was to love about Pokémon in the first place – and perhaps we all needed reminding.

Nintendo Power – 90
The Pokemon series’s latest pair of adventures is as addictive as ever. [March 2011, p.82]

Game Informer – 88
Pokemon Black and White do a great job building upon already solid features and taking them to the next level. [March 2011, p.95]
All this publication’s reviews

Game Revolution – 83
It’s highly likely that if you spent any energy at all anticipating Pokémon Black and White, you’re going to be ridiculously pleased with whichever version you choose. For Pokévirgins who are curious as to what it’s all about, this is a fine place to start.

GamePro – 80
It’s a smaller world than HeartGold and SoulSilver’s Kanto and Johto, but it’s a new world that should be explored by any Pokemon fan, young or old.

Wired – 80
Pokémon is a series that never reinvents the wheel, but instead continues to polish the basic design until it sparkles.

Joystiq – 80
Ultimately, though, these are the new trappings of an old, old game — one you may have already played three or four times before.

games(TM) – 80
While die-hards might still prefer the more expert-friendly features of HeartGold and SoulSilver, the fresh approach and fiercely impressive visuals, draped over a tried and true frame of addictive, highly nuanced battle and customization, make Pokémon Black/White the defacto catch-all solution to monster collecting on the venerable DS.

GameSpot – 75
What it lacks in originality, Pokemon Black more than makes up for with a vast world to explore and an absorbing battle system that’s heaps of fun.

[DS] Review Roundup - Pokémon Black and White

[DS] Review Roundup - Pokémon Black and White [Image: game-news-image-2011-b2b02d7c5ad73391a2d...c8ec2f.jpg]IGN - 9/10 - "Every time a new Pokemon game comes out people ask me, "Is this a good one to start with?" And while my answer is always yes, this time it's an emphatic one. Because this is the first time I don't add that they can start with any of them. If you have never played Pokemon, get off your ass and get Pokemon Black/White. Aside from a weaker lineup of monsters (largely an aesthetic complaint), this is the best Pokemon has to offer on every level, renewing my waning interest in monster battling. It proves that the Pokemon series is still rock solid after a decade and a half."

The Telegraph - 9/10 - "Pokémon Black is far from a series overhaul, then, and given how Pokémania has never really died out, it's perhaps understandable that it isn't. It is, however, a considerable improvement on the existing template, to the point where it's hard to see how the series can avoid a fairly notable change in approach. This could – and perhaps should – be the swansong to the Pokémon formula we're accustomed to, but if it is then it'll go out at the very peak of its existence: teetering on the edge of feeling too familiar, sustaining an incredible feat of balance, but nonetheless still standing tall at the very top of its game."

Eurogamer - 9/10 - "Of course there's a lot that's the same. Of course there is. But with a great many small and well-placed innovations, a vivacious, inventive new cast and the biggest cosmetic makeover the series has ever seen, Pokémon Black and White makes it all feel new again. It reminds you what there was to love about Pokémon in the first place – and perhaps we all needed reminding."

Joystiq - 4/5 - "Pokémon Black and White represent the very best that the franchise has to offer: An endearing cast of monsters and trainers, addictive collection mechanics, a 40-plus hour single-player campaign and a bevy of bolstered multiplayer functions. Ultimately, though, these are the new trappings of an old, old game -- one you may have already played three or four times before. And while that realization ultimately doesn't ruin what turned out to be a delightful and compelling handheld RPG, it does beg a necessary question: Why are Nintendo and Game Freak so terrified of letting this franchise evolve?"

GamesTM - 8/10 - "At the end of the day, Game Freak artfully treads a tightrope between several very different, very savvy audiences with Pokémon Black and White, and there’s more than enough here to please everybody. While die-hards might still prefer the more expert-friendly features of HeartGold and SoulSilver, the fresh approach and fiercely impressive visuals, draped over a tried and true frame of addictive, highly nuanced battle and customisation, make Pokémon Black/White the defacto catch-all solution to monster collecting on the venerable DS."

Pokemon Black and White Hits 2 Million in Sales

According to Nintendo of America, Pokemon lovers throughout the U.S.A. have purchased over two million copies of the Black and White versions in only two weeks. I’m curious as to whether or not this momentum will continue on and hit ten million in sales within the next few months.

Thanks, Pokémon fans! You helped the Pokémon Black and Pokémon White Version games hit the 2 million sales mark in just 2 weeks!

Pokémon Black & White Early Adopters Rewarded with Victini

EARLY PURCHASERS OF POKÉMON BLACK VERSION AND WHITE VERSION TO BE REWARDED WITH VICTINI DISTRIBUTION

Feb. 3, 2011

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are giving Pokémon™ fans yet another reason to get revved up for the March 6 launch of the Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version video games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems. Consumers who purchase either of the new games between launch and April 10 will be able to receive a special Liberty Pass via Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection (broadband Internet access required), which will enable them to catch the never-before-seen Mythical Pokémon Victini™.

Victini – the Victory Pokémon – is the first Pokémon that’s Psychic- and Fire-type and cannot be obtained through normal game play. It is said that Victini creates an unlimited supply of energy, which it shares with others. This energy source may be the secret to how it brings about victories. Victini’s unique and exclusive Victory Star ability not only increases its own accuracy in battle, but also boosts the accuracy of all a player’s Pokémon in battle. Victini is a must-have in any Pokémon battle, and is especially useful in Triple Battles, which debut in Pokémon Black Version andPokémon White Version.

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version include more than 150 never-before-seen Pokémon that players can catch, train and battle as they progress through the game. Both games are now available for pre-order from major retailers throughout the United States for a suggested retail price of $34.99 each. A deposit may be required for pre-orders. See individual retailers for details.

[DS] Pokémon Black & White Introduce Evolved Battle Systems

POKÉMON BLACK VERSION AND POKÉMON WHITE VERSION INTRODUCE EVOLVED BATTLE SYSTEMS

Jan. 25, 2011

The upcoming Pokémon™ Black Version and Pokémon White Version games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems feature more than 150 never-before-seen-Pokémon™. No matter which version players choose, they’re sure to have fun with an array of expanded features for taking their Pokémon into battle, either in the game’s main adventure, or head-to-head against friends.

Triple Battles debut in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, giving players more ways than ever to battle their customized team of Pokémon. Conducted in three-on-three format, Triple Battles introduce even more strategy to the game’s already deep battle system. Depending on a Pokémon’s placement in the battle lineup, it will only be able to attack certain Pokémon from an opponent’s trio, providing an exciting new way to battle. For example, a Pokémon in the center of a player’s lineup can attack any of its three opponents. However, a Pokémon positioned on the left or right of the formation can only attack the Pokémon in the middle of the opposing lineup, or directly in front of it.

The new C-Gear device in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version gives players an easier way to battle with others, and multiple ways of interacting with friends. Using IR Communication that’s built into the game card, players can quickly connect with friends to battle and trade Pokémon faster than ever before. Even exchanging Friend Codes is easier, with only a tap of the stylus needed to add them to your list. C-Gear also grants players a variety of game play and communication tools that utilize a local wireless connection and the Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection service (broadband Internet access required). Players have the option to always utilize the C-Gear while playing, allowing for instant access to other players around them — even displaying what nearby players are doing in the game.

Another new feature in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version is the Wi-Fi Random Matchup, which allows players to battle others from around the world over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service without needing to exchange Friend Codes, opening up even more opportunities for players to test their teams in battle.

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version will launch on March 6 and are now available for pre-order from major retailers throughout North America for a suggested retail price of $34.99 each. A deposit may be required for pre-orders. See individual retailers for details.
