Modern Warfare 3 and the rest of the CoD family on sale today at Amazon

by on Dec 12th 2011 4:00PM

Many, many people have already picked up copies of this year's Call of Duty entry, Modern Warfare 3. This we know. But what about those of you hoping against logic that the game -- one of the fastest selling media properties of all time -- would drop its price relatively close to launch? Bizarrely, your time has come, with Amazon offering Modern Warfare 3 for $50 (10 percent off) across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, today only.

In fact, the entire stable of Call of Duty titles are on sale (not to mention various DS and Wii iterations) going all the way back to Modern Warfare 1. Amazon promises a day of Assassin's Creed savings tomorrow, so perhaps holding off on a purchase of Revelations this afternoon would be a smart move.

'Family Game Night 4: The Game Show' got bored with board games

by on May 3rd 2011 4:15PM

The crazy thing is: Yahtzee played with a giant rubber bawl and bowling pins, instead of the traditional cup and dice, is actually a better idea for a video game -- especially one compatible with Kinect and PlayStation Move.

The crazier thing is: The Family Game Night 4 video game includes fewer than half of the minigames featured in the Family Game Night television game show on which it's based. You can't even begin to imagine how "Operation Relay" is going to work in your living room -- you just have to wait for the EA Hasbro division's next sequel.

Family Game Night 4: The Game Show will be released this fall for Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and features support for motion control on all three platforms. It includes five minigames adapted from The Hub channel's Family Game Night game show, including "Bop-It Boptagon," "Connect 4 Basketball," "Scrabble Flash," "Sorry! Sliders" and "Yahtzee Bowling."

Wii-lly Good Fun Family Memories Thanks to Wii Sports Games ...

What do you get when you combine a black or white Wii console, great Wii sports games like tennis or bowling, three grandboys, and one senior Sandwich Generation granny nanny? You get a lot of laughs, a ton of fun times and so many special family memories. Yup, this baby boomer has gone over to the Wii side and is loving it! Even if I do lose almost every single game to three adorable rapscallions who are only 7 and 8! (What can I say. It's their game and they get a LOT more practice than I do!)

I had tried Wii a year ago when their console was a bright and shiny and new. It seemed interesting but I just couldn't get the hang of the remote controllers. Now it's still bright and shiny BUT...

It all started when a couple of the grown-ups in the family kicked the grandkids off the Wii temporarily to settle down and enjoy a fun game from my baby boomer past - Mario Brother games, to be exact! I had enjoyed that so much with my kids when they were little, and lo and behold - it was the same game being played on the Wii. Turns out you can download Wii games, including the original Mario Brother games I fondly remembered playing on the little NES. Of course, I had to give it a try. And I was thrilled to discover that once I started playing a game I was fairly familiar with (even if it had been 15+ years ago), I could then understand how to use the remote controller. (Probably could have figured it out sooner if I'd just tried a bit. :) ). From that point on, I was hooked!

I now have a great Wii book to help me, have played multiple Wii sports games of bowling, tennis, baseball, and even golf, and even get an occasional Mario Brother games fix (the grandkids aren't as fond of it as I am). Even better, I have such wonderful family memories with my grandkids to add to my stockpile of memories from when my kids were young (it goes so FAST), and it's definitely grand! I've even toyed with getting my very own Wii for my house - hmmm, wonder if they make a Pink or Red Wii console...

If you are intrigued in knowing more about fun Wii Sports games for grand kids (not to mention all us seniors who love them), pop on over to SandwichINK - http://www.sandwichink.com/, where I'm writing all about my new-found Wii relationship! Not to mention other fun and interesting activities for grandparents and their grandchildren - all of which work together to create even more special family memories for us all.
