Official SteamWorld Dig video trailer is now live! Plus screens!

You know the drill by now:
The remaining scraps are huddling in caves beneath the surface, and steam-powered robots have taken over the Wild West. A horror scenario? No, rather the setting for SteamWorld Dig, the new 3DS eShop game from Swedish developer Image & Form. Don’t worry: the robots are the good guys. And you’re one of them.

You play the protagonist, Rusty – a lone-wolf, steam-powered cowbot who has come to an old mining town in great need. While digging your way through the old earth for riches and helping the townfolks get back on their feet, you unwittingly wake an ancient evil that lurks below…

SteamWorld Dig is a hardcore platform mining adventure that will be released on the Nintendo 3DS eShop™ in Europe and Australia on August 7, 2013 and America on August 8 (Japan will have to wait a couple of months). You dig tunnels, collect rare minerals, sell them for better equipment and take on the terrors of the underground – while Rusty undergoes the strangest of transformations.

PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond – New Screens, Box Art, & More

Join the quest with Pikachu and his friends to save the missing Pokémon and discover the mystery of an enchanting new world in PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, available exclusively for Wii across Europe from 23rd March 2012. As Pikachu and his Pals, solve the mystery of the missing Pokémon and save them from Wish Park. Only you can find out who or what is behind the disappearances in order to save the rest of the Pokémon.

Control one of four Pokémon characters in PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, Pikachu and the Unova starter Pokémon Oshawott, Snivy and Tepig, all with unique abilities that will help you in your quest. Each of Pikachu’s Pokémon Pals’ unique skills could prove vital if you are to save the missing Pokémon from the trance of the mysterious world: Pikachu’s Electric moves can help you to activate devices on the way; Oshawott has the ability to move through water; Snivy can move faster and jump higher than the other Pokémon, and Tepig can destroy obstacles on your quest.

This wide range of skills allows Pikachu and his pals to adapt to almost any environment or situation, with easy-to-use controls that make PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond a game that young Pokémon fans and beginners can enjoy just as much as PokéPark veterans.

Pikachu, Oshawott, Snivy and Tepig aren’t the only Pokémon you will get to know on your mysterious journey as there are nearly 200 other Pokémon that you can befriend to lend you a hand on your adventure, including many from the Unova region. The other Pokémon can challenge you to games where you may have to battle multiple opponents, play a game of hide-and-seek, partake in a game of chase or even compete in a quiz. Take on these Pokémon to prove your skills and they will reward you by becoming your friend and helping you on your quest to save the Pokémon.

While searching for Pikachu and his pals’ friends, you will encounter Attractions, guarded by a Boss Pokémon. Once you have completed the Attraction, you will have to battle the Boss! You will have a choice of which of the four playable Pokémon you wish to use in the battle, but choose wisely as a particular Pokémon’s unique strengths may be best suited to the battle and would therefore give you a greater chance of success.

This game also offers younger players a chance to experience the magical world of Pokemon for the very first time and provides a safe platform allowing parents to leave their kids to play by themselves.

Can you solve who or what is behind the mystery of the disappearing Pokémon? Join Pikachu and his Pals and befriend and battle many different Pokémon in PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, which launches across Europe on 23rd March 2012 only on Wii .

[CC'11, PS3] Silent Hill HD Collection off-screen trailer footage, two screens

[CC'11, PS3] Silent Hill HD Collection off-screen trailer footage, two screens
[Image: game-news-image-2011-afd879d79acddd21d60...846e93.png]
Konami took the Silent Hill entourage (Silent Hill: Downpour and a trailer for the Silent Hill HD Collection) on the road for Comic-Con. One fan managed to catch the trailer for the HD collection, which is still without a release date (be warned, it is cam-recorded off-screen footage).
Konami also released two screens from the Silent Hill 2 HD remaster as well, while they don't showcase too much it will certainly give a jolt of nostalgia to those who played this game back in the days of the PlayStation 2. The remasters feature high definition textures, trophy / achievement support, newly recorded voice acting (watched over by series regular Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) and, unfortunately, still no concrete release date. Have you ventured into Silent Hill as James Sunderland or Heather Mason yet? If not, then your chance to do so is quickly approaching.

[3DS] Dream Trigger 3D – Screens

The top screen shows what may look like a standard one-screen shoot-’em-up that has been around since the days of Asteroids. The combat, however, is far more complex. The onscreen avatar couldn’t kill the enemies in their initial form — instead I had to drop a line of “sonar” panels (from a limited supply) that revealed their vulnerable state. These sonar panels will only launch when a timing bar passes over them, in the same way that blocks were destroyed in Lumines.

After the enemies were caught by the sonar, you could then attack by firing my avatar’s lasers and running into the enemies. If enemies were left untouched for too long, they’d explode into a barrage of lethal bullets. While it only takes a few enemies to fill the screen, the bullets moved fairly slow, allowing dexterous maneuvering to make up for subpar sonar/shooting skills.

The 3D visuals aren’t very extravagant, but they do allow for some unique gameplay elements. Particularly, powerups would start in the deep background, moving toward the screen slowly, only becoming attainable when they reached the same plane as my avatar. While the powerups can still be detected in 2D (there’s also an element of brightness that indicates if they can be picked up), it’s a bit more natural in 3D, and one of the more clever and subtle uses of the extra dimension.

Dream Trigger 3D has 50 levels spread across 10 environments. Each environment features different musical tracks (techno takes on public-domain classical music), with your onscreen avatar and the enemies changing, too. Some of the different forms for the player include a fish, a bird, a butterfly, a bio-hazard signal, and a flying creature reminiscent of the critters in Panzer Dragoon.
