[PS3, X360] Updated Persona 4 Arena revealed; includes two more Persona 3 characters

[PS3, X360] Updated Persona 4 Arena revealed; includes two more Persona 3 characters
[Image: game-news-image-2013-ccd78453942b4f26fd2...34b774.jpg]
I have only just picked up my PlayStation Vita lately so I've been on a serious Persona binge, so I was a more than a little excited when I saw news that a sequel to Persona 4 Arena was in development. However, that excitement has cooled off somewhat now that I've discovered that we're still not sure if it is a full sequel or if it'll be an update, which we know that Arc are infatuated with.

Reports seem divided currently; VG247 note that both Gematsu and Shoryuken labelled the game as a sequel when translating the Famitsu report, but Siliconera is much more vague concerning whether this will be a sequel or just an update.

What we do know is that the update will include two characters from Persona 3, who'll also be sporting updated designs to coincide with the time lapse between events. Both Yukari and Junpei will be joining the playable cast of characters and they'll both be bringing very different attributes to the fray.

Arc System Works will be testing the updated fighter at Hey Arcade in Akihabara and Taito Station Nihombashi. Hopefully we'll find out what form this update will take soon enough, I will not be optimistic considering how Arc System Works has handled the BlazBlue franchise so far. You can check out some off-screen photos over at Famitsu.

Now I'll continue waiting for Persona 5.

Disney Infinity review: Dream it. Do it.

by Danny Cowan Writer RSS on Aug 19th 2013 1:00PM

Activision's Skylanders series is doing big business – big enough for the House of Mouse to take notice and develop a multi-million dollar competitor. The result, Disney Infinity, shares surface similarities with Activision's series, but its gameplay skews toward an older audience, in the hopes of capturing a universal appeal. Disney Infinity makes a lot of promises, boasting gameplay that takes cues from big-name hits like Minecraft and LittleBigPlanet. The finished product is a rousing success, offering lightweight but solid co-op gameplay built on a foundation of undiluted nostalgia. Disney Infinity is divided between the creation-focused Toy Box mode and Play Set mode, which offers a series of open-world platforming challenges. Gameplay is driven by sculpted figures that sit atop a USB-powered base. Characters that are placed on the base are given life in-game, complete with familiar animations, voices, and abilities.

Both Toy Box and Play Set modes take place from a third-person perspective and share similar gameplay mechanics. While the Skylanders games focus on combat, Disney Infinity takes a different approach, placing more of an emphasis on platforming. The result could frustrate some of Skylanders' younger fans, though adults will appreciate the added complexity.

Disney Infinity players can equip multiple Power Discs, which are physical, blind-boxed bits of plastic that stack underneath character figures and unlock new abilities and Toy Box toys. While the Toy Box bonuses are welcome, stat-boosting Power Discs have a negligible impact on gameplay, largely thanks to Disney Infinity's lack of difficulty or punishment for player death. They might be useful if you need an experience boost or some quick in-game cash, but Power Discs otherwise have very little use during gameplay, even when stacked for bonus buffs.

Toy Box mode comprises a large percentage of Disney Infinity's appeal. Starting in either a pre-built playground or a custom world, players can add terrain and all sorts of interactive elements to a non-canonical Disney universe filled with unlikely crossovers. Players can populate Aladdin's Cave of Wonders with a gang of Muppets, for example, or they can place Disneyland's Haunted Mansion next to Epcot's Spaceship Earth. Even if you have minimal knowledge of Disney movies and characters, you're bound to find a favorite among Toy Box's offerings, and mixing legacy Disney characters with modern-day faces has an unquestionable appeal.

Those who enjoy structureless sandbox games will get the most out of Toy Box mode, but its sheer breadth of content will win over pretty much anyone. Even if you lack the imagination or patience to create a world within Minecraft, Toy Box mode eases the creative process, making it a cinch to craft racetracks, platforms, and various oddball tributes to Disney's legacy.

Multiplayer shines in Toy Box mode. During one session, my partner built a replica of DuckTales' Killmotor Hill, topped with Scrooge McDuck's Money Bin and a small army of wandering Beagle Boys. On a nearby continent, I constructed the world's worst race track, filled with hairpin curves, huge dropoffs, and a finish line placed at the brink of a bottomless cliff. Despite their noble efforts, many Cars figures sacrificed their lives at the hands of Death Track, and it was hilarious.

While much of the content within Toy Box mode can be unlocked by completing Play Set missions, some of it is tied to specific figures. Unfortunately, players will need to purchase full sets of franchise-specific figures in order to access some of the best Toy Box elements (including pre-built Toy Box worlds, large themed structures, and toy characters) via Play Set Vaults. It's worth noting that the bulk of Skylanders' content can be accessed with just a handful of characters, while Disney Infinity's approach to unlockable content basically requires a full set of figures.

Disney Infinity's figure-collection aspect introduces a major drawback to its co-op component. While Toy Box mode is open to all characters, Play Sets are restricted to figures from their respective franchises – Sulley from Monsters University is unable to join the Incredibles Play Set, for instance. As Disney Infinity's Starter Pack only includes one character from each of its featured Play Sets, players will need to purchase several additional figures if they wish to join a partner for the duration of the game's campaign.

Disney Infinity review Dream it Do itGameplay within all of Disney Infinity's Play Sets is noticeably laid-back, compared to other open-world games. Exploring these worlds with a capable partner in co-op mode is especially enjoyable, as an experienced team can tackle multiple missions and objectives at once, turning gameplay into a satisfying conquest. Outside of challenges, players are free to explore on their own and pursue missions at their own pace, and are rarely at the mercy of their partner's actions.

All Play Sets are also distinct in style. The Incredibles Play Set focuses on open-world action and combat, while Pirates of the Caribbean features shooting mechanics and surprisingly in-depth ship navigation sequences between levels. Monsters University was my personal favorite Play Set, as it involves playing pranks on those uppity snobs at Fear Tech by toilet-papering their trees and tossing firecrackers in their windows.

Though all Play Sets offer a variety of simple, low-impact challenges, they're definitely targeted toward the youth market and pre-teens, in particular. Challenge is practically non-existent, and the lack of complexity may be a turnoff for those who are old enough to play other open-world games.

At the same time, Disney Infinity's challenges may prove too difficult for young children. The platforming challenges could be particularly frustrating, as they require much greater dexterity and coordination than what Skylanders demands. A parent-and-child team is an ideal setup for Disney Infinity, letting kids delegate platforming to adults while they focus on the simplified combat and exploration elements.

Adults who have a fondness for Disney will get the most out of Disney Infinity, thanks to its expansive Toy Box mode, and the Play Sets will provide hours of entertainment for kids who have prior experience with platformers. While the Play Sets may be a little too simple to be enjoyed by adults in single-player mode, they're a lot of fun with a co-op partner, as long as the both of you can revel in the fact that you're playing with childrens' toys. Despite some missteps, Disney Infinity does a solid job of appealing to a broad audience, and lives up to its lofty promises.

This review is based on the retail release of the Xbox 360 version of Disney Infinity, provided by Disney.

[PC] Announcement trailer surfaces for King of Fighters XIII Steam Edition
The rumours surrounding an impending PC release for King of Fighters XIII via Valve's Steam have been floating around for awhile now. However, we have our first piece of real evidence supporting the PC port.

An announcement trailer has surfaced on YouTube supposedly outing the King of Fighters XIII Steam Edition of the game and seemingly confirms that it will be released in the future. SNK Playmore hasn't confirmed anything at this point, but it seems like the trailer has done that work for them.

Would you play King of Fighters XIII on Steam?

Disney Infinity rustles up Toy Story set, makes new pals

by Sinan Kubba Writer RSS on Aug 12th 2013 12:00PM

Disney Infinity rustles up Toy Story set, makes new palsSkylanders rival-to-be Disney Infinity unveiled 'Toy Story in Space' as its sixth play set, along with a whole bunch of new playable characters for the Toy Box mode. The game's play sets include physical figures that grant access to in-game worlds and stories, in this case the Toy Story universe. Buzz Lightyear and Jessie are the packed-in figures, while a Woody figure is available separately.

Infinity's Starter Pack, priced $75, includes the game, three play sets, and a figure for each one. Those sets are The Incredibles, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Monsters University, and they come with Mr. Incredible, Jack Sparrow, and Sully figurines.

As ever with toys, some play sets are sold separately, and Disney has announced three other additional play sets so far. They are Cars, The Lone Ranger, and the newly confirmed Toy Story in Space, each one adding around six to nine hours of gameplay and priced $35. Unlike the other two, Toy Story in Space won't be available when the game launches for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii, and 3DS later this week - it's scheduled for October.

Disney also announced new figures for the Toy Box mode, the game's communal sandbox where collected characters can be brought together for crossover antics. While we'd prefer Wreck-It Ralph to get his own launch play set, the big lug does feature as an additional Toy Box character along with co-star Vanellope. The other newbies are Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey from Fantasia, Tangled's Rapunzel, Phineas and Agent P from Phineas and Ferb, Anna and Elsa from upcoming film Frozen, and finally, maybe the pick of the bunch, The Nightmare Before Christmas' Jack Skellington. The newly announced Toy Box characters will roll out starting October through to next year. Disney Infinity

The company also announced the next wave of playable characters for the Disney Infinity Toy Box mode, including Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey, and characters from Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen and Phineas and Ferb. These new character figures will be rolled out beginning this October, through 2014.

In Toy Box, players can build and customize worlds, and incorporate these new items into their interactions with other Disney and Pixar characters.

Toy Box Characters
The newest character figures announced today will be playable in the Toy Box mode and will also come with their own "Adventure." Each Adventure is unique to that character and allows them to play a short game. Disney Interactive loses $58 million in Q3

by Jessica Conditt Writer RSS on Aug 7th 2013 7:30PM

Disney Interactive loses $58 million in Q3Disney Interactive reported an operating income loss of $58 million in Q3 2013, 38 percent greater than the loss in 2012's third quarter (operating income measures money brought in after costs, but before taxes). Disney's video game arm brought in revenue of $183 million this quarter, down 7 percent from last year. At least Disney Interactive is consistent.

Disney attributed the losses to the lack of new consoles on the market and a decrease in its social games sector following an acquisition in Q3 2012. The decreases were offset by growth at Disney's Japan mobile business, the company said.

The financial report doesn't mention April's closure of LucasArts or its imminent Disney Infinity series, which takes a page out of Activision's Skylanders playbook.

Video Games Live: Level 3 Successfully Kickstarted – Now What?

vgl-level3-kickstarter-funded

Video game composer and friend of NintendoFuse, Tommy Tallarico, has been hard at work promoting his first Kickstarter project, and two days ago, it met its goal of $250,000. This project is Video Games Live: Level 3, the third album of popular video game music recorded by the orchestra, choir, and rock compilation of Video Games Live (VGL). They have made a name for themselves by touring the world and putting on shows for thousands of people with multimedia, lights, integrated game video, crowd participation, and well-known music from video games. For their third album, though, Tallarico headed to Kickstarter. Previous albums were funded primarily internally by himself, so this is the first time he has turned to the VGL fans.

There were many levels of funding, which all boasted rewards worth much more than the amount they pledged. The time has now passed for supporting the campaign via Kickstarter, but Tallarico realizes some might have held off or just missed the opportunity to jump on board. Thus, VGL is offering, for a limited time, the ability to support six of the tiers via Paypal. Just head to their site.

So, what now? One of the biggest points of this album is that Tallarico is focused on having the original artists playing in each recording. Over the next few months, they will be gathering the rights, getting the artists and musicians together, and recording the album.

We would like to congratulate Tallarico and VGL for their successful campaign. We also want to thank him for his two podcast interviews. We wish them the best, and we cannot wait until we begin to receive our Kickstarter rewards, including the new album!

[X360] Microsoft Points will disappear when the next system update is released

[X360] Microsoft Points will disappear when the next system update is released
[Image: game-news-image-2013-c2462bfe54c0f2eb68f...18346a.jpg]
Do you find Microsoft's mysterious space dollars to be too troublesome to fiddle around with when you browse their Xbox Marketplace offerings? If you do then we've got some good news for you, those mysterious point values are set to disappear!

A rumour suggesting that Microsoft Points would vanish first appeared back in May and it was later confirmed during E3 but we didn't know when the change would be happening. Now it has been confirmed by Microsoft's Marc Whitten, Chief Product Officer, over on Xbox Wire that we can expect the switch to happen this year.

In the post Whitten talks about Microsoft's desire to make the transition as easy as possible for Xbox users around the world. He confirms that change will arrive with a new system update, after the update all prices will be displayed in your local currency on the Xbox Marketplace. Additionally, Whitten confirms that you'll still be able to purchase Xbox 360 content with any current form of payment option available in your region.

This means that any Microsoft Point cards that are redeemed, after the update is completed, will be converted to an amount of currency equal to or greater than the Xbox Marketplace value of the Microsoft Points.

Later this year Microsoft will start released new Xbox Gift Cards, they'll be available through online and local retailers and should help make the transition a lot more fluent. This will bring their Marketplace into line just in time for the launch of the Xbox One this November, I will be curious to see how Xbox users respond to the change. I know some people will be happy for it to finally happen, but there are also a handful of people that don't mind the current point system.

Thanks VG247.

[Image: game-news-image-2013-bbcbb572369595b8806...ee7861.jpg]
Mixed reactions echoed across the internet when Irrational confirmed they would be returning to Rapture for the upcoming BioShock Infinite DLC expansions; I was among those voicing a mixed reaction.

On one hand I am very excited to see what Irrational will do with the narrative in Rapture featuring both Booker and Elizabeth, but at the same time I'm concerned that returning to Rapture could spoil the magic. This isn't surprising considering I was pretty annoyed with nearly every aspect of BioShock 2; I felt that Rapture's story was done. You can consider me a skeptic; a title that I'll happily take on.

Anyway, here's your first proper look at the more mature Elizabeth that will be playable in the second episode of Burial at Sea; don't worry, she won't play like another Booker. I guess for this very reason I'm actually excited to see how Elizabeth will handle in episode two, because I found the combat in Infinite to be quite unimpressive.

Disney passed on Iron Man, Star Wars games to focus on Disney Infinity

by Danny Cowan Writer RSS on Aug 16th 2013 1:00PM

Disney passed on Iron Man, Star Wars games to focus on Disney InfinityDisney tightened its focus within the video games sector in order to concentrate on the upcoming multiplatform release of Disney Infinity, the Wall Street Journal reports.

As part of its restructuring efforts, the company canceled a previously unannounced Iron Man-licensed game that had entered production. Disney Interactive additionally passed on its option to produce multiple Star Wars-licensed games following its parent company's purchase of Lucasfilm earlier this year.

According to the Wall Street Journal's report, Disney Infinity cost the company more than $100 million to produce. The risk is great, but Disney counts on a big payoff, as Activision's competing Skylanders series has raked in more than $1.5 billion in sales since its launch in 2011.

Disney positions Infinity as a boost for its faltering Interactive division, which has incurred more than $1.41 billion in losses since its formation in 2008.

"If Infinity does well, it bodes very well for the bottom line of this unit," Disney CEO Robert Iger told the Wall Street Journal. "If it doesn't do well, the opposite will be the case."

"It's a Hail Mary with a tremendous amount of pressure to be a hit," said an unnamed source who recently left Disney's video game division.

Wonderful Ones Unite! Nintendo Unleashes The Wonderful 101 on September 15, 2013

Are you excited about The Wonderful 101 for Wii U? It launches this Sunday, September 15, in retail stores and the eShop. Below is a press release with more information about the game.

Wonderful 101

—————

PRESS RELEASE

Wonderful Ones Unite! Nintendo Unleashes The Wonderful 101

Heroic Wii U Game Features Epic Game Play Built for a Superhero … 101 of Them!

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Earth’s only hope against an alien invasion is a team of 100 fearless superheroes, and they need YOUR help. Only you can unite these superheroes – not to become the “Just OK 101,” or even the “So-So 101,” but rather the Wonderful 101! Launching on Sept. 15 exclusively for the Wii U console, The Wonderful 101 is an incredibly vibrant action game that lets players control a team of superheroes that is trying to defeat alien invaders known as GEATHJERK. Individually, these superheroes pack a decent punch, but unite them together and they are unstoppable.

“The Wonderful 101 is one of the most over-the-top games on Wii U – in a good way,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Featuring hordes of heroes and enemies on screen at once, deep game play that rewards experimentation and several different uses for the Wii U GamePad, the game illustrates the kind of original and refreshing experiences that can only be found on Wii U.”

The Wonderful 101 is filled with a cast of colorful characters, led by the dynamic Wonder-Red. Players can meet other heroes that will join the team, such as the charming Wonder-Blue and the tough-as-nails Wonder-Pink. These fellow superheroes each grant players access to a new ability.

The touch-screen actions performed on the GamePad controller are vital to the success of the superheroes’ brave mission. By drawing certain symbols on the screen or with the right Control Stick, players combine multiple heroes in a Unite Morph. A circle forms Unite Hand, which delivers a powerful blow; a straight line creates Unite Sword, which can be used to attack enemies on all sides; a right angle activates Unite Gun, a morph that is useful against aerial targets; and a wavy line unleashes the power of Unite Whip, which can rip the armor from an enemy’s body.

By drawing circles around average citizens and sending them Wonder-Energy, players can recruit them to become heroes in battle. The more citizens players recruit, the more powerful their Unite Morph attacks become. To further bolster their ranks, players can track down and recruit the rest of the Wonderful 100, who have eccentric costumes and wild names, like Wonder-Guitar, Wonder-Locomotive, Wonder-Signal and even Wonder-Toilet.

Unite Morphs are also used for puzzle solving in the sprawling and towering game world. Drawing a straight line might create a ladder for scaling a wall or a bridge to cross between buildings. Unite Hand might be used to turn an oversized crank, while drawing a triangle might create a hang glider to fly through the city. Puzzle solving also takes advantage of the second screen on the Wii U GamePad controller by allowing players to control individual heroes.

The in-game Wonderful Mart lets players spend O-Parts acquired during battles to unlock additional Unite Morphs, as well as new abilities and upgrades. The game also challenges players to get top scores in their missions as they gain strength and experience, and learn more devastating combos.

In addition to the frenetic single-player mode, The Wonderful 101 offers a co-op multiplayer mode for up to five players. With one player controlling with the GamePad and four others each using either a Wii U Pro Controller or Wii Remote with a Classic Controller attached, friends can team up to take on the game’s numerous and larger-than-life challenges.

The Wonderful 101 can also be purchased and downloaded in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U. For more information about The Wonderful 101, visit http://www.thewonderful101.nintendo.com.

Remember that Wii U features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu.

Gamestop defends Xenoblade price tag, Metroid Prime Trilogy being restocked

by Jessica Conditt Writer RSS on Aug 13th 2013 5:01PM

Gamestop defends Xenoblade price tag, Metroid Prime Trilogy on its wayGamestop's inventory of pre-owned Xenoblade Chronicles copies seemed to inflate overnight on August 10, when the game showed up at previously dry retail locations and online for $90 a pop. Xenoblade is a famously hard-to-find Wii role-playing game that was sold only via Nintendo and Gamestop on first printing, and until now it seemed retail stock teetered on nonexistence.

We contacted Gamestop when Xenoblade was resurrected last week, and today the company issued a response:

"Gamestop regularly receives feedback from our PowerUp members regarding old titles they would like us to bring back, such as vintage games like Xenoblade Chronicles. We were recently able to source a limited number of copies of this title to carry in our stores and online.

"In fact, we have sourced several more vintage titles that will be hitting stores in the coming months, including Metroid Prime Trilogy.

"As always, our pricing for these games is competitive and is based on current market value driven by supply and demand. PowerUp Pro members always receive a 10 percent discount and earn PUR points on pre-owned purchases."

There's no word on the source of Gamestop's fresh copies. Nintendo has yet to respond to our requests for clarification, regarding whether this is a reprint or simply a surprising windfall of pre-owned games. Really, all of this comes down to one, simple question: How much is five stars worth to you?

[PC] Blizzard launches Diablo 3 teaser titled 'Reaper of Souls'

[PC] Blizzard launches Diablo 3 teaser titled 'Reaper of Souls'
We are mere weeks away from the console release for Blizzard's Diablo 3; an event that we saw coming long before Blizzard announced it. However, Blizzard is determined to keep their fans buzzing and as a result have launched a new site for something title 'Reaper of Souls'.

It is not clear what exactly the site and it doesn't provide much information; you can check it out here if you don't believe me.

[Image: game-news-image-2013-5d150855ffd40da07ef...ffb509.jpg]
The page contains the above text, which is a quote taken from the Book of Tyrael. Popular speculation suggests that this could be the first expansion that Blizzard will release for Diablo 3 and that this teaser site has been launched to generate hype for its announcement.

Gamescom is due to kick off next week and there's a good chance that Blizzard will announce something, but could an expansion for Diablo 3 be their news?

How do you think an expansion announcement would affect the console release of Diablo 3?

Thanks VG247.

Iwata: Nintendo magic comes from integrating hardware and software

by David Hinkle Writer RSS on Aug 8th 2013 7:45PM

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says the company's chief differentiator is its invention and introduction of hardware and software, and how having those different teams under the same umbrella.

"What I believe is that Nintendo is a very unique company, because it does its business by designing and introducing people to hardware and software – by integrating them, we can be unique. And because we have hardware and software developers in the same building, they stimulate each other," Iwata tells CVG.

This approach, Iwata says, has cemented fandom in Nintendo's lineup of franchises. And why not offer Nintendo games on competing platforms? With such a stable of system sellers at its disposal, Iwata thinks it'd be short-sighted for Nintendo to offer its games elsewhere.

If he wasn't "concerned about the long-term future of Nintendo at all," Iwata says putting Nintendo games on other systems may lead to "some short-term profit." Ultimately, it's Iwata's responsibility for the long-term that prevents him from ever "providing our precious resources for other platforms at all."

Iwata, who this year took on the role of Nintendo of America CEO in addition to his duties as company president, got his start at Nintendo as a programmer for HAL Laboratory, the outfit responsible for creating Kirby, the Mother series (Earthbound) and the Super Smash Bros. franchise. He has served as president of Nintendo since 2002.

Eidos-Montreal have been working on on Garrett, the Master Thief, and his comeback game and Square Enix have filled us in on when we'll be able to experience the fruits of their labour.

Thief will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on February 25th, 2014 (North America) and February 28th (Europe). So if you are a fan of the franchise this will be a game worth keeping an eye on. The title will also be featured at Gamescom next week and as a result Square Enix have prepared a new trailer to celebrate.

I'm finding myself somewhat anxious about this game, I have fond memories of the original Thief games and can't shake the feeling that this title may not fill the void. I am willing to give it a chance though, so I'd best start training my first-person stealth abilities in preparation.

PRESS RELEASE

International Charity Sets New Milestone Opening First Physical Laboratory for Gamers with Special Needs

The AbleGamers Charity Launches New Service for Gamers with Disabilities

Harper’s Ferry, WV – Sept 11, 2013 – The AbleGamers Charity is thrilled to announce the opening of the first AbleGamers Lab for gamers with special needs. Located in the headquarters of the AbleGamers Charity just outside of Washington DC, the AbleGamers laboratory features all of the top-end gaming devices and cutting-edge assistive technology set up specifically to enable those with disabilities to play video games.

“This day has been nearly a decade in the making,” said Mark Barlet, Founder and Director of the AbleGamers Charity. “And up until this point, the AbleGamers lab has only been a dream.”

“But I’m proud to announce that this dream has become a reality,” he continued. “We already have our first appointment scheduled and will continue consulting with special needs gamers as quickly as we can. It is, has been, and will always be our primary goal to empower and enable any gamer with disabilities to play video games.”

“It’s all thanks to the community,” said Steve Spohn, Chief Operations Officer and Outreach Chair for the AbleGamers video game charity. “We have had a tremendous outpouring of generosity from the videogame industry and community over the last year. These amazing donors have enabled us to begin consulting with gamers one-on-one to figure out the exact equipment each individual needs to get back into the game.”

Consultation is free, but by appointment only. Each appointment lasts approximately 1-2 hours, but can sometimes take longer depending on the individual’s particular needs. For more information, gamers with disabilities and/or caretakers can email lab@ablegamers.com to schedule an appointment with one of our assistive technology specialists.

About AbleGamers

The AbleGamers Charity is a 501(c)(3) public charity that runs AbleGamers.com, which provides news and reviews on the accessibility of mainstream video game titles, as well as consultation on assistive technology. As an alternative to Serious Gaming, mainstream video games supply many disabled individuals and veterans with rehabilitation as well as social stimulation in situations where they may be otherwise shut out of society’s idea of normal everyday life.

[PC, PS3, X360] Morrigan will play a major role in Dragon Age Inquisition

[PC, PS3, X360] Morrigan will play a major role in Dragon Age Inquisition

That's right, folks. BioWare have confirmed that Morrigan's fate is set to be decided in Dragon Age Inquisition; which is news that shouldn't really surprise anyone.

Speaking to Game Informer the game's writer, David Gaider, and creative director, Mike Laidlaw, also confirmed that her role would definitely be more than a cameo. Gaider and Laidlaw are pretty excited to bring Morrigan back to the forefront with the duo claiming that they the core elements of Inquisition's story since about "midway through Dragon Age: Origins."

Sadly she will not be a playable character, but don't let that news downplay the importance of her return.

"[Morrigan] has a human role in this plot, which I think may surprise some people because they might only think of her as a plot device," said Gaider. "She has this big plot she's involved in, and while that's true to an extent, I'm taking her to a human place. That will make sense after the fact."

Okay, BioWare, you've got my attention. I've been anxiously waiting to see what was actually happening with Morrigan since the Witch Hunt DLC was released for Dragon Age: Origins. In fact, one of my biggest complaints about Dragon Age II was the fact that this plot point was completely ignored in favour of the disappointing adventures of Hawke and his gang of misfits.

Do you care about Dragon Age Inquisition after Dragon Age II? BioWare is still staying considerably quiet concerning the game's mechanics, which worries me. If it plays like Dragon Age II then I'm afraid I'll be very disappointed.

[X1] Xbox One's 'DVR' features will require users to have a Gold Account

[X1] Xbox One's 'DVR' features will require users to have a Gold Account
[Image: game-news-image-2013-186269cf678e20b97d6...c5ffeb.jpg]
This news isn't really surprising, but I guess it is good to see it has finally been confirmed. The Xbox One's 'DVR' feature that allows players to record their gameplay will require the player to have an Xbox Live Gold Account.

An official Xbox One/Xbox 360 features list confirmed the information earlier. Additionally when One Hit Pixel reached out to Microsoft on the matter they also confirmed it, saying "I can confirm that Game DVR features will be available to Xbox Live Gold members only.”

In case you weren't aware, the Xbox One allows players to record up to five minutes of footage as well as edit and upload it to the internet, hopefully the amount of footage you can record is increased in time because five minutes really isn't that much. However, it is still a nice feature to have.

Sony's PlayStation 4 will have a similar feature incorporated into the console's 'Share' button, the main difference being that you'll be able to record the last fifteen minutes of gameplay. It currently seems as though this feature will be free, but it wouldn't surprise me if Sony incorporate some of its features with PlayStation Plus now that it is required to play online multiplayer.

Disney Infinity puts away 294,000 copies in August

by Jessica Conditt Writer RSS on Sep 16th 2013 10:00PM

Disney Infinity put the revenue from 294,000 sales in its toy box in its first two weeks on the market, a Disney spokesperson told Games Industry. Disney Infinity launched on August 18 and it hit No. 3 on the NPD's monthly sales report, behind Saints Row 4 and Madden 25.

The Accessories section of the NPD's totals hit $136.7 million for August. "Combined with sales of Skylanders accessories, one in every three accessory sold this month was an Interactive Gaming Toy," NPD reported.

We found Disney Infinity to be a joy for Disney fans of any age: "Adults who have a fondness for Disney will get the most out of Disney Infinity, thanks to its expansive Toy Box mode, and the Play Sets will provide hours of entertainment for kids who have prior experience with platformers."
