[Project Cafe] Nintendo Stream? After the leak of Project Cafe, the dam continues to pour out with details on Nintendo's next-gen console.
This time the rumored technical specifications have been called out. According to sources, the console will feature a look similar to "a modernized version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)". Internal the console will be powered by AMD's R700 GPU which is said to outperform the NVIDIA 7800GTX found in the Playstation 3. Additionally, the CPU will be a custom triple-core IBM PowerPC similar to the Xbox 360's but with a higher clock speed. The system will naturally be able to output in 1080p as well as stereoscopic 3D although that has yet to be nailed down as a feature.
It is also noted that one of the names floating around Nintendo HQ seems to be 'Stream'.
E3 can't get here fast enough.

Assuming this is all true, Nintendo must have one hell of a leak for all this information to get out.
RE: [Project Cafe] Nintendo Stream? It is a double-edged approach though, because then what happens if certain groups of people aren't happy when you don't deliver features that were "rumoured" about leading up to launch. Honestly, it does sound possible though. Nintendo must know they aren't popular with the hardcore and a good way to catch interest is do this sort of stuff. Get people talking about this sort of stuff and a lot will be watching Nintendo at E3.
Shigeru Miyamoto warned not to believe everything you read recently, so that helps.
Even if Nintendo don't announce anything about a new platform at E3, they are fine. Because they never confirmed that they were going to in the first place.

[Project Cafe] Nintendo's new hardware all but confirmed? Gamers have uncovered another clue that could be further proof that Nintendo's next piece of hardware is indeed labelled as 'Project Cafe'. The discovery came from Wario World, which is the website where developers can order hardware or seek development support.
What was the discovery exactly? Well, entering in http://www.warioworld.com/cafe redirects you to the main Wario World site. If you try any other sort of word then it will give you a 404 page. Further more the following banner was discovered on the website:
Another picture was also discovered which is just a picture of a latte and it says 'Cafe'. It all seems like too much of a coincidence, also considering the thumbnail was added on the 5th of April and the banner came around ten days later (roughly the same day that the rumours started pouring out). Tomorrow is when Nintendo will be holding their investor meeting, so chances are something could be teased at tomorrow. How much we'll know about it unknown at this point, but this new development does give fans something to chew on while they wait for Nintendo to make their next move.

According to an investors note (below), Nintendo will be releasing the newest console in 2012. There will be a playable version at E3 this year, June 7, 2011. Of course, the multiple rumors surrounding the system are still floating around. So, we’ll have to be content with those until Nintendo sets us straight.
To whom it may concern:
Re: Wii’s successor system
Nintendo Co., Ltd. has decided to launch in 2012 a system to succeed Wii, which the company has sold 86.01 million units on a consolidated shipment basis between its launch in 2006 and the end of March 2011.
We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles.
Sales of this new system have not been included in the financial forecasts announced today for the fiscal term ending March 2012.
[Project Cafe] Nintendo seemingly announces new hardware, premiere at E3 Looks like E3 is where it will all be going down. Nintendo of Japan has been circulating a press release that lets know that E3 is where our eyes need to be. No name is mentioned in the release, but after Shigeru Miyamoto commented that where there is smoke there is fire. What are your thoughts on the matter?

RE: [Project Cafe] Nintendo seemingly announces new hardware, premiere at E3 This article seems to suggest that Cafe isn't as powerful as IGN is claiming:
Quote:There's also talk of an AMD GPU from the R700 family, which unfortunately tells us very little about what we can expect from Cafe's graphics. However, it does fit in with Nintendo's modus operandi in utilising cheap, existing hardware, most likely with console-specific refinements.
In terms of available power, R700 scales up from anything from a low-power Radeon HD 4350 with 80 streaming processing units all the way to the HD 4890 that utilises 10 times as many. Optimistic speculation zeroes in on the HD 4770 as the most likely candidate for inclusion in Cafe, but our sources suggest that the overall profile of the GPU is much closer to the Xbox 360 - and we've even heard that in some applications it may even operate at a deficit compared to Xenos.
The next six weeks is going to be a cluster**** of rumours and speculation. Hopefully it won't be more than that.
RE: [Project Cafe] Nintendo seemingly announces new hardware, premiere at E3 Heard it was potentially confirmed by word of mouth, but still.
I found my wii! January 21, 2007, circuit city, first in line Thanks mom! If you would like to add me, my wii number is- 0178-7996-3632-4248. Please post to my guestbook if you do! Live GamerTag: R3vengeance
by Griffin McElroy on Apr 15th 2011 1:00PMThe towering pile of rumors regarding Nintendo's next generation console, supposedly to be announced at E3, continues to grow today with a report from French news site 01net (which divined the hardware specs of the NGP before its official unveiling). Citing unnamed sources, the site claims the system is currently codenamed "Project Café," and adds that it does feature hardware resembling that of the Xbox 360, such as a three-core IBM PowerPC CPU.
The real meat of the report isn't in the specs of the console, but rather, its controller. According to 01net, the peripheral will feature a six-inch single-input touchscreen -- which corroborates a similar report published by CVG yesterday. The French site also says the controller features a standard set of buttons, a front-mounted camera (what?) and can even function as a Wii sensor bar, should the player choose to indulge in the console's built-in backwards compatibility. That's actually pretty believable -- after all, the same effect can be achieved using a pair of candles.
We'll keep an ear to the ground for any additional reports of a touchscreen-infused remote for the heavily rumored console. At the very least, we can be certain that over the course of the next few nights, visions of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures will be dancing through our heads.
