This news isn't really surprising, but I guess it is good to see it has finally been confirmed. The Xbox One's 'DVR' feature that allows players to record their gameplay will require the player to have an Xbox Live Gold Account.

An official Xbox One/Xbox 360 features list confirmed the information earlier. Additionally when One Hit Pixel reached out to Microsoft on the matter they also confirmed it, saying "I can confirm that Game DVR features will be available to Xbox Live Gold members only.”

In case you weren't aware, the Xbox One allows players to record up to five minutes of footage as well as edit and upload it to the internet, hopefully the amount of footage you can record is increased in time because five minutes really isn't that much. However, it is still a nice feature to have.

Sony's PlayStation 4 will have a similar feature incorporated into the console's 'Share' button, the main difference being that you'll be able to record the last fifteen minutes of gameplay. It currently seems as though this feature will be free, but it wouldn't surprise me if Sony incorporate some of its features with PlayStation Plus now that it is required to play online multiplayer.
