Were you excited for Fez II? If so, then I've got some bad news for you. It sounds as though the game may not be completed after somewhat of a blowout on Twitter earlier caused Phil Fish to announce that he would be cancelling Fez II and leaving the games industry.

The tweets were a little bit touchy, but essentially Marcus Beer had some selective words to say about Phil Fish and Jonathon Blow. During the latest episode of Invisible Walls he sarcastically labels the duo as "BlowFish" and commented on how they reacted when asked to comment on Microsoft's reversal concerning indies and self-publishing on Xbox One. What followed were some very radical tweets from Phil Fish, who has since made his Twitter account private and effectively blocked out everyone who wasn't already following him.

If you want to know more about what was said then I'd recommend checking out this NeoGAF thread.

The biggest news was, of course, the cancellation of Fez II. A tweet was posted by both Phil Fish and Polytron confirming the news, which has been solidified on Polytron's website.

"Fez II is cancelled. I am done. I take the money and I run. This is as much as I can stomach. This isn't the result of any one thing, but the end of a long, bloody campaign. You win," read the statement on Polytron's site.

My opinion on Phil Fish is divided, I really enjoyed the original Fez when it was released on PC and thought that Fish had some really good ideas going. However, it seems that he is vulnerable to flying off the handle and making spur of the moment mistakes, but he is human and that is definitely something that we're all guilty of.

Do you hope that Fish will return to games and resume working on Fez II? Or are you glad to see him bow out of the industry?

On the flip side, Jonathan Blow has handled the situation with a much more level-headed approach.

Thanks VG247.
