[PS3, X360] Original Silent Hill art director disappointed by Konami's HD ports
Silent Hill 2 & Silent Hill 3 are probably masterpieces of the survival-horror genre, filled to the brim with symbolism and mature themes combined with an interestingly complex environment layered with this and that. This year they joined the parade of high definition ports, unfortunately they seem to have come out in a less than impressive form.

The original art director, Masahiro Ito, for the first three Silent Hill titles has been posting some comments on his thoughts on the high definition 'remasters' on his Twitter account. He commented on a comparison image and was less than impressed with the results. He was especially disappointed, as I was, with the lessened fog levels exposing incomplete environments.

"Left side is HD, isn't it? It's poor," he wrote. "It's really a released version? Really?"

When a follower replied that the images were indeed from a retail disc, his reaction was a simple "OMG!". He also believes that Konami might benefit from releasing a patch, hopeful that the issues might be repairable with a patch.

"I guess that it was a problem of PS3. PS3 has a weak point for using 'translucent texture'," he wrote. "But PS2 has no such a weak point, and original SH2/SH3 use so many 'translucent texture'. Example, for fog/mist."

Konami have confirmed a patch will fix some issues users have been experiencing, these issues will be fixed when the collection launches in Europe on the 29th of March though.

It is incredibly disappointing that Konami cannot at least maintain classic games while they continue to drag the franchise into the depths of despair.
