Nintendo has released a new application for the Wii U called Animal Crossing Plaza, it is a free service available for download right now and will operate through until the end of 2014.

Using this service Animal Crossing fans from around the world will be able to "meet, interact and exchange information through the Animal Crossing Miiverse community." You'll also be able to import images that you've taken on Animal Crossing: New Leaf and custom QR code patterns you've created and organise them neatly into albums, from here you'll be able to post them to the message board directly (I guess this will suffice until the Miiverse comes to the 3DS). Additionally, players can select their favourite animals in Animal Crossing Plaza to post about those specific animals or view posts only about them.

If players want to see more posts then Nintendo reminds wants to remind you that you can jump over to the full Animal Crossing Miiverse community.

I'm not sure what the goal is here, but that didn't stop me from firing up my Wii U in order to download this free application. I was just starting to quit my Animal Crossing: New Leaf addiction as well, Nintendo.
