Splinter Cell: Blacklist will not have local (offline) co-operative play on the Wii U; despite still having online co-operative play as an option.

Liu Jun, Producer on Splinter Cell: Blacklist, confirmed the absence of the feature in an interview with Nintendo Life. Jun cites the game's ship date as the reason to leave the feature out of the Wii U version.

"In order to ship at the same time as the other consoles, we unfortunately weren't able to delve into this feature," said Jun. "But we think Nintendo gamers will be really excited to get the game at the same time as other consoles."

I can understand Jun's point, it also upholds Ubisoft's policy with releasing games across all available platforms in the same window. If there's any consolation prize to be taken away from this it is the confirmation that the Wii U will still have online co-op, a feature that will not be included in the Wii U version of Batman: Arkham Origins later this year, as well as taking full advantage of the Wii U's GamePad and included a DLC schedule that is the same as the other platforms.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist releases this month for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360.
