[PS4] "Always online" was apparently never really considered an option by Sony
[Image: game-news-image-2013-9c5ac8fb994229f1762...ce5603.jpg]So, there's been a lot of controversy surrounding the possibility that Microsoft's new console could be required a constant internet connection (depending on your interpretation; personally I don't think they'll pursue it in this manner). A lot of people were quick to cast the spotlight back on Sony; who, despite never mentioning always online during their PlayStation 4 showcase, never actually denied its inclusion.

However, Gaming Everything spied an interesting statement during an interview in Game Informer claiming that Sony never considered going down that road.

“Did we consider it? No, we didn’t consider it. The main reason being that many countries don’t have robust Internet connections. It makes sense for people to have Internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw do not really have robust Internet,” Shuhei Yoshida told the magazine.

So, what do you think? Is this just Sony playing the role of a 'good guy' or do you think they genuinely never considered implementing in with the PlayStation 4? Its worth noting that patents surfaced suggesting that Sony might have been investigating its use at one point.

Or will Sony still announce some sort of incentive to be constantly connected to the internet heading into E3?

Thanks Eurogamer.
