Section 8: Prejudice is the downloadable sequel to the 2008 full retail title Section 8. The first title, despite generally positive reviews, wasn't a commercial success and was sadly quickly forgotten about behind other genre-leading first person shooter titles and the developer, TimeGate, decided that releasing a sequel on downloadable platforms was the way forward with the franchise and have tried to put a full retail title worth of content into a $15 download. Beyond the generic front of space marine shooter Section 8: Prejudice is in fact a very distinctive game. Does the gamble pay off? I believe so as TimeGate have crafted an exceptional value for money game. Read on to find out why!
The gameplay builds on the already solid foundations that the predecessor set. It is comparable to Halo: Reach in that you will be utilizing your suit's abilities in a number of different ways such as a sprinting maneuver, a jet pack, a reticle auto-lock and customizable load-outs. Your survival depends on you learning how and when to use the limited-use abilities and which load-outs to use in what situation. Do you think you'll need a repair tool or a knife? Or should I jet pack over the hill or sprint around to flank them? Assessing each situation is key to the strategic gameplay. You also rack up money for your efforts which can be used to purchase extras to aid in the battle such as a supply terminal that refills ammo and lets you change guns or you could purchase turrets and mechs to defend or attack. The intricately designed gameplay is backed by Prejudice being one of the best looking titles available on Xbox Live Arcade.
