[X360] Gears of War 3 beta set to start in April
Are you excited for Gears of War 3? If you are an Xbox 360 owner, then you most likely are. If so, then here's some news that might interest you. The beta for Epic's upcoming shooter has been dated.

However, there are a variety of different ways to access the beta in the first place, so pay attention. To access the beta you have to pre-order either the Standard, Limited or Epic Editions from Game or Gamestation (claims Microsoft). The other method is unlocked through owning a copy of Bulletstorm. It kicks off for Bulletstorm owners on the 18th of April and runs til the 24th of April before other Xbox Live gamers gets to dip their toes in. The key dates are as follows:

Owners of "Bulletstorm: Epic Edition" are eligible for a one-week beta preview period featuring the new Team Deathmatch mode on four new maps (Thrashball, Checkout, Trenches and Old Town).

Gears of War 3 Beta, 25 April - 15 May
The full public beta period begins 25 April. Players can look forward to special events and playlists throughout the beta period. Two additional competitive game modes, Capture the Leader and King of the Hill, will be added during the final week of the beta.

Beta concludes.

Through playing the beta, players will be able to unlock special items for use in the full version of the game as well. Some of these items include Beta Tester Medal (which will give you a Beta Tester title in the full retail copy of Gears of War 3), Thrashball Cole (complete 50 matches to unlock the Thrashball Cole character, then complete 10 matches with him to unlock the character in the full game), Gold-Played Retro-Lancer (complete 90 matche to unlock, then get 100 kills with it to carry it over to the full game), Flaming Hammerburst (complete a match by the 24th of April to unlock), Flaming Lancer (complete a match during the week of the 25th of April), Flaming Sawed-Off Shotgun (complete a match during the week of the 2nd of May), and the Flaming Gnasher Shotgun (complete a match during the week of the 9th of May).
