[3DS] Cave Story 3D Coming This Summer
NIS America has announced that it will publish a 3D-enhanced version of developer Studio Pixel's critically acclaimed shooter Cave Story for the Nintendo 3DS this summer. The publisher claims the title will be "fully reconstructed in 3D", rendering the environments with three-dimensional polygons. The gameplay, however, will remain on a 2D plane.

Cave Story is an old-school platformer that blends in shooting elements and upgradeable weapons and abilities. The game was originally released on the PC in 2004, but was ported to WiiWare and DSiWare in 2010. The WiiWare version currently boasts an impressive 90.3% average rating on GameRankings.
