You did not misread the headline, starting from today Microsoft will be giving everyone access to free Xbox Live Gold memberships for the weekend starting from 5pm today GMT.
Everyone's favourite Microsoft man, Major Nelson, wrote: "With the free Xbox LIVE Gold weekend... now is a great time to get your friends online to experience all that Xbox LIVE Gold has to offer." Makes a lot of sense to me, so if you have a Silver membership, jump online and get in there! Just in time to test out Dead Space 2's online features as well!
On a slightly sadder note, this event has been postponed until a later date for the UK due to 'technical difficulties', don't worry guys! You'll get your turn soon enough.
