Did your heart break when you heard about Free Radical? Luckily it may not be over just yet. According to CVG, Crytek is exploring the possibilities of a new installment in the Timesplitters franchise.
After reports that Timesplitters 4 had been in development since 2008 (3 years after the previous entry, Timesplitters: Future Perfect, was released) until Free Radical went into administration it seemed like it was all but over. Thankfully Crytek picked up the struggling studio and has since assigned them to developing the multiplayer component that will be featured in Crysis 2.
"I love working with our UK friends," Cevat Yerli (CEO) said. "The team has been performing up to the quality bar easily. Our thinking was that the team had done 80-85 rated games, and we thought that with the right technology, IP and global IP direction they could reach the 90 barrier. I'm very confident that they can do that."
On the topic of future Timesplitters titles he said, "Yeah, we have been discussing it, but nothing has been confirmed yet, so let's see after Crysis 2."
Do you hope for a new entry in Free Radical's franchise?
